Jalesh makes the adjustments necessary to follow the distress call, taking careful note of the surroundings looking out in case of an ambush.
Let's try for a perception check here and see if I see anything out of the ordinary that might indicate a trap

Jalesh scans for the distress beacon, honing in on the exact location as he lowers the ship gently into the atmosphere. With the team working together, they find what appear to be the ruins of a Starfinder ship amongst some arid sand dunes. Scanning the surroundings, they find that the sand near the ship is far too soft to land risk-free. It is likely that the Loreseeker would begin to sink, and might even become stuck and make castaways of them as well. Circling the area, they find a firm landing spot about a half-hour walk from the ship.

Satisfied with the parking job Jalesh, relinquishes the ship's controls and goes back to his quarters to gather his equipment for the trip ahead.

"Guess its time we walk-walk!" Quig gathering all his things, plus a few random bits and bobs from the engine room without even thinking about it. He is down out of the airlock, mask on, testing for atmosphere, and then sending scout out and up high to scan the immediate area around the landing zone for dangers.

Chapter 3: The Unbounded Wayfarer

The ramp opens in the rear of the ship, hitting the sand dunes with a dull thump. The three men walk with purpose to the north, towards the ruins of the Starfinder ship. The surface appears to be what you expected from the air. This area of Ulmarid is a wind-scoured desert with jagged protrusions of rock thrusting up through the sand. The air has a harsh tang, like burning metal.

The little drone speeds up into the air to scan for dangers as the hike begins. Visual readings come back to Quig's datapad, giving him an overhead view of their surroundings. No obvious movement appears in the vicinity. No large predators, other drones, etc. Electromagnetic signals seem to have a hard time traveling through the metal-heavy atmosphere, so it's hard to tell if only the mayday broadcast is active, or other parts of the crash-landed ship are running as well.

In the distance the air begins swirling and flashing. From their perspective the trio can't see it, but Scout's camera zooms in on the weather. After a few moments for analysis, a small audible alarm pings. The storm is moving swiftly in their direction, and it doesn't look friendly. The smell of harsh burning metal slowly intensifies, and the group picks up the pace.

By the time they run up tot the grounded ship, the skies are full of crazed clouds. Rather than darkening with rain, their metallic contents flash and sparkle, brightening the surroundings. No one feels optimistic about what that would feel like in their lungs, regardless of species. To their relief the ship seems mainly structurally intact, although the main side hatch appears open. As they hustle up, a shadow appears in the entryway ...

Successful Perception/Survival checks. Scout helped a ton there, since you sent him upwards to observe. The storm was poisonous, so that would have been fun!

Jalesh rushes into the relative safety of the ship, he covers his mouth and nostrils with his free hand trying as much as possible to avoid the metallic little bits in the air. Once inside he drops his hand back to his weapon which he immediately points towards the shadow in the entry way, "Who goes there?" He shouts.

As Jalesh's eyes acclimate to the dim interior of the ship he can clearly make out a Kasatha dressed in a well maintained set of black and turquoise clothes decorated with intricate patterns. As is typical of his kind, his mouth and the lower portion of his face is obscured by a piece of cloth that mimics the color and patterns of his clothes. A sheathed dueling sword hanging on his left side and a survival knife sheathed upside down on his right breast are the only visible weapons you can see on him. A blood red globe of light bobs playfully around his head and shoulders causing an eerie set of shadows to dance on the walls of the ship.

As Jalesh shouts out, surprise clearly registers in the Kasatha's eyes as he drops a protien bar he was holding in his hands. The Kasatha quickly recovers from this surprise and when he speaks his voice is strong, clear, and matter-of-fact. "Forgive my bluntness, Honored Guest, but are you real or has solitude finally broken my mind?"

Quig calls out about the storm, "We need to move, big storm, metal rain-rain, going to be bad-bad for all of us." He hustles along to the ship and as the timing of the storm and arrival at the downed ship meet he races up the ramp without thought, callin down scout to join him. As he's heading up the ramp he's grabbing Scout out of the air and tucking him into his specially made pack on his back. The shadowy form isn't even noticed because of this distraction until Jalesh is calling out and the figure is calling back.

Quig calls out, "We real, so is storm, we all need to be in-in like now-now!" He's twitching and eager to be inside with the ramp up if possible, he can worry about who this person is later.

Keskodai moves rapidly in, brushing dust from his mustache.

"Real as you, friend. You survived the wreck?"
