"We should get moving," Astraea urges the others. If she felt annoyed at mercy being shown to the rat, she didn't show it, though Ragathiel was well-known for being a god of holy vengeance. "I would like to see the sky again, and we need to find out what happened."

"Shouldn't we take a rest here first for a night, where it's relatively safe?"
Aurelia didn't see the magical ring being taken, so she doesn't comment on it.

As they contemplate the future, another mental missive is yelled into their minds by a familiar voice. "Out of the Senate building, just rounding the corner to a safe house. The military is divided, and the assassins continue their work. We need to rally, figure out what to do. The safe house is located at the Dignif---". The message ominously cuts off mid-word.

"Well, that's a bummer" Mercutio sighs. "For all we know, we're way up in the mountains, leagues and leagues away. But if we got teleported here, maybe we can teleport back?"

Hard to know for certain, as Mercutio is correct about the lack of context clues. There are no windows or sounds of nature. This does seem to be constructed for use by Taldan nobility, such as the noble that holed up where they teleported in. So it stands to reason they're still within the national boundaries, perhaps even still within the capital itself. But it's impossible to know for certain until they're outside.
The door to the east is the only remaining exit. Hopefully that leads out of this complex.

Re: Book 1: Crownfall, Act 2: Lost in History
Theodrix does two things while everyone is slightly distracted. He palms the lesser magic ring, the protection one, and deftly slides it on his finger without asking anyone. Then he comments, "Well, there are a few places that could be Dignify or Dignified or similarly named, that's not great. Could take hours to search them all, if we ever make it out of here." Then he leans into the old box and the ring there, "Ratman the Great, what's this? Oh my, House Picard? Really? You have a ring from Noble House Picard. Tell me, how did you come by this?" He is completely bluffing of course, he has no idea which house it belongs to. His plan is to get the rat man talking about it, and if he must 'put it back' to do so, but not really.

"Might be easier to find the way out than find the way in, I am thinking." Mercutio comments. "Besides, they seem to be less safe than we are.."

The rat looks surprised, angry, and confused by this line of reasoning. He starts arguing that it was an inheritance of his Master Eros, it interrupted by anger at the sarcastic Ratman the Great line, then it absolutely flummoxed by the House Picard claim. Now he's confused if it's even the same ring, or after all these years he mixed up the memory of where it came from, or what the heck is going on. Eventually he waves it away, too confused to lay claim to it again.

"Do you know a way to the surface?" Bertram asks the ratman, still frowning.
