"Well, whatever happens, we shan't starve in here." Astraea's tone is positive, though she doesn't relish the idea of subsisting on gruel. "Come, let us search for a key for that lock."

"Ok. Or maybe we can find a crowbar." Bertram says, then he looks around for some kind of key.

Theodrix pauses, "Now this is a high quality lock, clearly this room's privacy was valued by the Voritas family." He puts his items away one by one, cleaning them and tucking them away with care. "Let's see, teleporting broaches, highly secure chamber, weapons cache, magically produced food stuffs. If it wasn't already obvious enough, we are in their safe house, a bolt hole for just such an occasion as a coup or riot in the court."

He glances up at the ceiling, and runs a hand over the door frame and walls testing its construction. "A key would be helpful, but if not we will have to see if there is an axe in the weapon cache to hack our way out." He then sets to searching the chamber taking his time.
Alright Search, Take 20 while the others might search faster without it.

A search begins to find some sort of missing key or icon that can unlock the expertly made cabinet. Without resorting to brute force, of course. Every cabinet is opened and every corner checked. The drawers are pulled completely out to check for a hidden compartment within the woodwork. The soured wines are shaken vigorously to check for metallic stowaways, and the furniture moved around. Nothing.

Backtracking to the first room they appeared in, a similar search begins. All of the weaponry is hauled out of the compartments, but no key is found buried amongst the martial treasures. Suddenly, Theodrix finds a roughness in one of the comforters he is patting down. After closer examination, he finds an inelegant brass key sewn into the lining, and frees it. Brushing it off, he goes north and inserts it into the lock. Wish a quick twist, the thing unlocks!

Inside the previously locked cabinet is something that resembles an immovable crystal ball built into the wall. The device appears incomplete - a roughly rectangular piece of curved glass appears to be missing from a hole in the top of the device. Nothing they've found so far appears to match that shape or look.
There are 2 passageways left to explore. Passages go east from either the 1st or 2nd room you've explored (basically it's looking like there are likely 4 rooms in a square formation down here).

"Let's go through here." Bertram says, pointing to the door in the second room. "Let's pray to Cayden there is an exit."

As the party travels east, they see heavy wooden bookshelves line the walls of an opulent bedchamber. A posh chair sits in the northwestern corner alongside a circular table. A massive bed and an adjoining table rest along the eastern side of the room. An open bathroom fits into the southwest, with a bathtub matching the room's opulence, but adding an ignoble odor. A door leads to the south, to the last unexplored room.

Glancing along the books lining the walls you see many of them detail points of Taldor's long history. Despite a thick layer of dust, everything in here has aged much better than those in the servants' quarters, including the high-quality bed and bedclothes. A hand mirror and a frayed brush rest on the sink in the bathroom.

Aurelia, noted enchantress that she is, detects a strong magical aura in the room. After sniffing around she can tell there is some sort of conjuration aura along the western wall of the room, although it feels old and dormant. Touching and pushing on the wall elicits no response. She does find a circular, coin-sized niche that also shines with magic to those with the proper Sight, but otherwise it appears unresponsive as well.
Aurelia: Passive Perception check, Pass. Notice the magical auras.

Theodrix spends time inspecting the strange crystal ball, but then moves on to search the other rooms. The bedroom and bath room of the place are first on the list. He spends a while searching about for items that might fit in the missing part of the crystal ball, then he goes ahead and just looks for items that might bring a decent price on the open market. He pauses and stands with Aurelia as she checks the magical aura and the new coin-sized niche.

Bertram also inspects the anomaly, as an inquisitor, he might have some insight into what this is.

Keeping up his cheery mood and a seemingly endless repertoire of quips, Mercutio does work diligently in helping with the search.
