That is certainly AN interpretation. :D

Where exactly is the palace of Birdsong? And where is this estate we got now?

The Campaign Maps are spectacularly unhelpful in establishing where any area is in relation to each other, so it took some sleuthing to put it together.

The County of Meratt is a 5-day ride northwest of the Capital. The County is about 30 miles north-to-south and 50 miles east-to-west. The Betany Estate is almost right in the middle, slightly to the east of center. The Palace of Birdsong is about 10 miles north of your new Estate.

For the general location description:
Nestled just south of the Verduran Forest, the County of Meratt sprawls across the Tandak Plains, which stretch northeast of Cassomir. The land here is pastoral, with rolling hills and pockets of verdant forest. The World's Edge Mountains to the east occasionally rise into view, creating breathtaking vistas for travelers cresting the rising plains. Noble estates, hamlets, villages, and farmland of all sorts knit the countryside together like a familiar and comforting quilt.

So the estate is in the countryside and the palace in a town?

That's pretty accurate, yeah. You've got a village that supports your Estate, but the Palace has an established town. It is the seat of the County after all.

So what would a grand party look like?

Not sure if a decadent orgy would be Mercutio's style....probably wouldn't be. But if it doesn't irritate Vernisant sensibilities, it's not worth hosting.

The Tanager Jubilee will take place over 2 full days. The main event of the first day is a jousting tournament, and the second is a grand hunt. The second evening will end with a masked ball. There are anticipated to be about 40 people total there, although not everyone will be 'important'. Many would be minor functionaries or visiting relatives.

Even though there is a tournament and hunt, this isn't just a place to show off martial might. And on the opposite end, just because there is a masked ball doesn't mean that only bards and great communicators will have a chance to shine. Lots of opportunities to impress and influence using any and all of your abilities.

Some events will be more about improving the standing of the whole group, while others might more highlight your personal influence. And of course some of this could go badly, and you end up looking the fool. :P

Keep in mind that the vast majority of the people will be locals, so the party-goers in Act I are going to be your neighbors (and potential allies and enemies). So it should be interesting!

Astraea will volunteer for the tournament. I have max ranks in Ride, but the armor check penalty is rough, so maybe I'll borrow some lighter armor for that?

At any rate, do we all want to be heirs, or should we nominate someone?

Bertram is ok with both options. He does not need to be the heir himself.

Hello everybody. Working on my character profile, worked out the sheet & entrance with the DM. You're getting a fighter built as a halbardier and a Taldan Horse cavalrywoman aspiring to be a commander. For Facets, going with Heroism and Charm. Looking forward to jumping in. :)
