Euric the Curious

Race: Man
Culture: Beorning
Calling: Slayer
Vitals: 6'8", 230lbs, Brown Hair, Brown Eyes, Age 17
Traits: Curious, Hardy, Mountaineer, Anduin-Lore, Enemy-lore (Orcs)
Family: Father - Evoric (dead), Mother - Gailavira, Younger Sister - Grimhild, Younger Brother - Widuven

When Euric was in his 14th summer his father was called by Beorn to head into the mountains to guard the passes against the encroachment from orcs. It was a proud duty, but one with much danger. Still Euric was happy to know his father was a trusted ally of Beorn the Great. The oldest of three siblings, it fell to Euric to be the man of the family while father way away. He took great pride in his duties at home, and worked hard to help his brother and sister, and his mother in all that their small homestead required. His family raised bees, it wasn't always glamorous but the honey produced was used in honey-cakes all about the nearby lands. Yet ever did Euric's eyes wander west to the mountains where his father was. On occasion his father would return from his post or send for Euric to join him. Those summer months spent in the mountains were some of Euric's favorite. He learned much in way of mountain-craft there, and his heart opened with a longing to see more places in the world. He toughened up there too, but he could not remain, not for long, and would return home to aid his family through the fall and winter.

Now 17 summers Euric has grown into his full stature as a strong young man, hardy and bold, with a mix of pragmatic lore and foolish wanderlust sprinkled together. Yet the joy of childhood was shattered only last month, news of an orc raid in the High Pass came down to the Beornings. The men there were attacked and many died fighting valiantly against the orcs. Among the dead was Euric's father. When news arrived home the family mourned for several weeks, but now a burning desire for vengeance has welled up in Euric's heart -- and some day soon the orcs will suffer for what they have done.

Name: Guldem, Son of Caldem
Race: Human
Culture: Woodsmen
Calling: Wanderer

Vitals: 6'0", 205lbs, Brown Hair, Grey Eyes, Age 30
Traits: Curious, Determined, Mirkwood-lore, Leechcraft
Family: Father - Caldem (dead), Mother - Maldara (missing) no siblings
Village: Clearwood

Background Story

For most of his childhood being confined to his small village in a Mirkwood, clearing was perfectly normal for Guldem. Things started to change in his adolescence where he developed from an innocent child-curiosity to a real thirst for the outside world. At the same time, his father began to take him on infrequent trading trips, where he got to meet beornings, the men of Dale, other woodsmen village and the occasional dwarf, and even a chance encounter with some Mirkwood elves. He always expressed to his father his desire to one day leave the community and wander around, to which his father responded with a resounding no. "One day my child you will understand," his father always explained. "Some duties go beyond our desires, for the reason that I cannot yet explain, an old oaths bind us, and oaths should never be broken. We protect something here, something important, and the enemy should never have it his hands." Guldem begrudgingly accepted his father words, but never gave up on his dream of wandering the world. He did, however, become an excellent fighter and healer, as he saw that this was an easy way to convince his father and other men of the village to take him on trading trips, serving as a bodyguard.

As he got older numerous rumors began to reach Clearwood, stories of an ever-growing shadows, of orc and spiders getting more and more aggressive, attacking other woodmen village and raiding the lands of the beornings. Axantal, one of the Village Elders called upon Guldem for a special mission. He handed the Guldem a letter, written in strange writings (Guldem would later learn that it was Elvish), and ask him to deliver it to the King of the Mirkwood Elves Tharundil. "The Elves of Mirkwood are folk that don't talk much with outsiders but show this letter to anyone one of them, and they will understand, there are things at stake that go beyond the peculiarities of the races of Middle-earth."
Guldem made the trip, a dangerous one as Mirkwood had gotten more and more perilous during the last seasons. As he made to the Elves, he was greeted with bows and spears, when Guldem presented the letter, he was told to wait, as the guard informed the King of its content. For a full day, he waited, the Elves never taking their eyes off of him, spears at the ready. When the guard return he gave an answer from his King. "Tell your elder this: 'It is with pain that I deny his request for elven aid, these are indeed dangerous times and all the more reason for us to protect our realm more than ever, diminished as it has. If the object that his speaks is really in his possession, tell your elder to do the old stories justice and bury that dangerous artifact at sea."

Guldem didn't completely understand what was going on, but he did feel like he was being betrayed somehow like an old promised had been broken. He made the trip back to his village, and as he returned he noticed smoking coming out of it the clearing. He ran towards the town, and what he saw appalled him, everything was burning. He hurried to his home, and saw that it was empty, he ran towards Axantal's house, his father lay dead inside, arrow and sword wounds covered his body. Axantal was wounded sitting with his back towards a wall.
"My child," he spoke. "Your father fought valiantly to defend me and it, but it was not enough. Your mother and half a dozen other fighters are pursuing the orcs. They stole it, the seeing-stone. We must get it back. Tell me of the elves, will they help?"

"No," Guldem said quietly, but full of puzzling anger. "They won't. But I don't understand what is going on, why did the orcs attack?"

"The stone, we exist to protect it," Axantal voice sound weak. "Go, follow your mother, help her retrieve it."

"But I can help you" Guldem protested. "I've trained in healing."

"I'm a dead old man, and there is nothing you can do. Go now, the stone is more important."

Guldem left in search of his Mother and this mysterious stone, but five years later he still has found neither. He now wanders searching, and ironic fate considering his youthful wishes.

Grimbold

Race: Man
Culture: Beorning
Calling: Warden
Vitals: 2.2 m/7.3 feet, 90kg, Black Hair, Blue Eyes, Age 20
Traits: Bold, Swift, Anduin-lore, Beast-lore, Shadow-lore
Family: Father - Unknown, Mother - Unknown, Adopted Father - Ilkorin, Adopted Mother - Garsendis
Background Story:

On a cold, biting night, Grimbold was found on the doorstep of a farmstead in the West-Middle Vale. Wrapped in a pack of leather coats, which were engraved with symbols of unknown origin, Grimbold was taken in by loving parents. They felt blessed with this gift, the gift of a child. There are whispers about Grimbold's heritage, but he set thoughts about that aside. He learned to take care of himself from his father, who is tasked with protecting the Vales of the Anduin, also known as the Land of the Beornings. Grimbold would, as he grew older, on occasion accompany his father.
Like Northern Rangers protecting the Shire, they would not enter the spotlight often. Grimbold, however, has a certain aura surrounding him, a natural charisma. Maybe it was because of his height, even tall for most Beornings, he was. He seemed to resemble their leader Beorn, his black hair surrounding his face and covering his arms like ivy.
Out in the Wild, Grimbold learned a lot about the wildlife and how to hunt it. Whenever they would visit a settlement, Grimbold would watch the people and study their behaviour. He developed a talent for spotting thieves and lying merchants and would sometimes intervene, for he hated infighting. The enemy should not be sought among the people, Grimbold knew. The Enemy was that what surrounded them, with their most crystallized forms being Orcs and Wargs. Grimbold knew that they formed the lesser evil, for his father told him that Beorn spoke of a Sorcerer to his lieutenants.
After several years Grimbold was capable enough and given the same task as his father. He managed fine without his father and found the loneliness somewhat attractive. He liked the task, the roaming of the realm, and learned all there was to learn about what he was protecting. Being grown up, he was able to wear the leather armour in which he once arrived, which made him feel strangely comfortable. He could travel fast between the known and unknown borders of Beorn's lands, while never drawing attention to himself or his actions. He did not want any respect or glory, for that was not in his nature. He did his job, for the people. Especially for his parents, who took him in and fostered him so lovingly. He wanted to make sure no harm ever came to him.
Couldn't find a fitting picture, this is quite cool art tho. The other one is a picture of Grimbold's home. Okay, how do I add the images to the spoiler thing? @Vardaen
