"Well, the most I can say is that you'd be welcome in the Grey Company. I just joined before this mission, and they seem like a solid crew." He pats Oloven to comfort him, as they get close to 'home'. "Other than that, I've found it to be similar to any other growing frontier city. Growing pains, but working through it." She looks down at her own body. "Looks like I'll be relying on the rest of you to vouch that I really am Zeevan. I look a little different. You know. Different race. Switched gender. Worst liar in the world if I was trying to steal an identity."

"Of course, I vouch for you. You're still the same gal I met last week." She grins momentarily, and looks down at Oloven again.

"None of us left that place unharmed. Will the Grey Company be able to do anything for them?"

Reaching Stormreach

Post by Vardaen » Wed Feb 12, 2020 3:11 pm

In order to make things easier. We can say the Grey Maidens took a boat down the coast, only pausing in the harbor of Stormreach to resupply and such, then sailed along the coast to the Cape of the Lady Light. So this is your first time in Stormreach.

The Grey Tower, the PC's headquarters would be a good place to start maybe for healing even.
Fletcher nods to Sheevan, I mean Zeevan, "Come, I will speak to Valtrith d 'Orien leader of the Grey Company and vouch for all of you. He will know who to seek about healing." He takes a moment and continues, "I belize Azincourt of House Jorassco is member of the Grey Company in good standing and is well versed in the healing of soft bodies. We should make for the tower straight away."

Orianna stops the company before you continue any further into the outskirts of Stormreach. "I think we should part ways here. I have a contact with in Stormreach who is to give us passage back north to Thrane. I do not wish to burden you further." She looks at Taris, "Here is now Taris, the choice that has long been coming. Will you stay with us, or will you join these new companions? Either is acceptable to me."

Reaching Stormreach

As much as heading home and helping to redeem her knightly order from their sins at the Lady's Light, Zeevan feels conflicted in that she also doesn't want to lose Taris as a companion. She has shown herself to be fierce and brave, staying the course when others might falter. "The choice is yours indeed. But let it be known that you are greatly desired by the Grey Company, and by us in particular."

Taris looks between the warforged, the (ahem) sulator, the wounded priest, and their ironically-afflicted Riedran, and then back to Orianna.

"It would be nice to see the squad remade," she answers, "but, I got the wake-up call to end all wake-up calls, and the Grey Company are working toward something very important that they need my help with. So, let this be my resignation, or my exile, or whatever pleases the Silver Flame. I'd like to keep the armor if I can, though. Tyra knows it's saved my hide a few times. Please let my family know that I'll be staying in Stormreach from now on, and that I miss them." She pauses. "And I'm going to miss you, too."

Orianna steps up to Taris, "I have made many mistakes, and this will not be another you. You are on sabbatical Taris. If you ever desire to return to us, you are most welcome." He hugs Taris, a rare sign up physical emotion from the leader of the Grey Maidens. "May this armor protect your body, and your faith protect your soul. Go with my blessing, for what its worth." She steps back and calls to the others, "Grey Maidens, let's move out! Remember Stormreach is a haven of sin, watch your step..." You can hear her shouting orders as they march off into the city, a few giving nods or waves to Taris as they go.

Fletcher looks at Oloven, then to the others. "Come."

Sabbatical, huh? Well then, she'll be curious to know what has come of their squad when she returns, before desire has anything to do with it. And although she did participate in their highwayman activities, Taris is careful not to bring it up lest the mood be broken.

She nods to the other steel tank in the party and to the conscious and lucid Zeevan, and falls in line.
"Stormreach is a haven of sin." Heh, that should make my character sufficiently wary of both guards & criminals while she's here and when she was sorta there but just in the harbor with the rest of her unit, thanks.

The Grey Tower: Debriefing

Post by Vardaen » Mon Feb 24, 2020 8:33 pm

You are lead through the edge Stormreach to Oldgate and Whitewash, where the Grey Tower stands on the edge of the wilds and the city.
The Tower is "a" on the top of the map, take notice the map is oriented sideways, North is on the right.

Image
Oldgate District

You'd heard that Oldgate was one of the oldest and most significant parts of the city, but passing through it doesn't give you that impression. Oldgate seems too ordered and polite, too clean and safe. Contrary to its name, this area feels newer than the rest of the city, and the people seem as if they're in a city of their own, far from the chaos in the neighboring districts.

Compared to the rest of the city, Oldgate is in good order, with rubble cleaned up and many buildings sporting new coats of paint. In the Age of Giants, the district housed the city's main inland gate, the ruins of which loom over the westernmost part of the district. In recent decades, Oldgate has become the home of expatriate communities from Aundair and Thrane and is considered a model district by the Storm Lords. However, under its respectable face, the district contains intrigues between its militia -- the Knights of Thrane and the Ninth Wands -- and other power groups in the city like the Grey Company.

Ward: Whitewash
Whitewash is home to Aundairian expatriates, who have a reputation for aloofness and one-upmanship. They certainly do take pride in their ward. Over the centuries, a considerable amount of magic has been woven into it. More everbright lanterns flicker here than anywhere else in the city, and the district takes its name from a centrally located magic fountain that allows people to instantly clean clothes there. A team of magewrights use prestidigitation to keep the district itself clean. The Aundairians are largely peaceful, but if pressed, they will not hesitate to call on Jorian Thiel and the Ninth Wands.

The Grey Company and the Grey Tower is in Whitewash.

The Grey Company
Role Call
Stormreach

All are important threads about the Grey Company. For what its worth, we won't be staying in Stormreach too long
Fletcher takes you to the base of the Grey Tower. "We are home. Come let us see if Val'trith or another is available."
Image

You head inside to the main hall and are impressed by the various trophies mounted to the walls, the cleanliness of it, and the efficient running of the Tower. You are not inside for more than a moment when a slender woman, a shifter by her look, "May I...." she sees Oloven and Fletcher and her eyes go wide, "Sir Fletcher! What has happened to Sir Oloven! By the Sovien Hosts, come quickly!" She runs over and pulls on a rope, an alarm sounds and the place is abuzz like a hive in moments. Porters arrive in a hurry and take Oloven rushing him off to the infirmary, while others escort you to a safe place. Its all quick and orderly and you are soon made at home. You are given a hot bath, fresh clothing, a nice meal some ale and wine, and then you find you are relaxing in one of the lounges before long. All the while you are kept apace of Oloven's recovery and you soon learn that the ranking healer in the tower will soon be here called away from other duties to tend to him, and you are put at ease.

Before too long you are up on the forth floor in the common room having a drink when you are approached by a serious looking half elf. "I am Imric Forester, Adjutant of the Company Commander, please may I sit?" He takes a seat when indicated. "I am here for a full debriefing, Lord Val'trith has gone to Khorvaire but he has left in instructions to aide you, and has filled me in on your mission with the Shards." He smiles and lays out a book, activates a magical quill pen, and begins inscribing your tale.

The Grey Tower: Debriefing

Post by RorytheRomulan » Tue Feb 25, 2020 10:57 pm

Taris chooses a skirt to match her shirt. She bathes for longer than the others, and when she comes out to the lounge, the only uncommon look about her is her shiny eyes and her physique. Oh, and a wicked scar. She looks like someone you could take home to ma. She hasn't eaten this good in a while. She gets a chicken leg, a pear, dried tomatoes, and a hunk of bread, and she goes all-out for the bread - warm, fresh, and buttered. To drink, she has a cup of wine.

"Mm. I really miss bread like this, you have no idea. This is amazing!"

When Imric arrives, she waits on Fletcher or Zeevan to do the talking.

The Grey Tower: Debriefing

Post by ManWithDoor » Tue Mar 03, 2020 6:57 am

Zeevan greets Imric. "Sorry to say, I look quite different the last time we met. Was a Soli ... and male. A magical trap that went awry put me into this body. No less skilled, but a different wardrobe is in order." She opens up with the humor of the situation, as the rest of the briefing is anything but a laughing matter.

She walks through their journey to the Lady's Light, skipping to the highlights. Their dealings with the Witch. The underground passageways. The demonic infestation. She goes light on the Silver Flame details, as that is Taris' business to share or not. But ultimately they prevailed and retrieved the Shard of Lust, and returned back to base. Wounded and changed, but nothing comes without a price.
