Joe Haldeman's The Forever War is probably my favorite book of all time. It was the first book that I read that really left an impression on me (at the time I was just reading space opera & fantasy adventure type novels). It's highly dated to 70s time period, but if you can look past that and into the story bits, then it's a great book IMO.
I'm just sad that Channing Tatnum is looking like he'll be the lead in the movie. I hope they don't destroy this great book.

Channing Tatum truly is a terrible actor.
Foxcatcher is an incredible story that I've long known about, but the movie wasn't very good, and it didn't help Tatum was the main star.

The link isn't working. I agree The Forever War is a great book, even if it feels a bit dated in parts. I would worry, however, that a movie would play up the war part and downplay the forever part--that is the story on the difficulties of veterans readjusting to civilian life, especially in a society that has really changed.

Link works for me.
Agree with @Muskrat, I think they'll lose the actual point of the book when they turn it into a movie. The ending of the book (not the love story part, but the alien war part) was truly the first time I ever read a book and have a single paragraph enlighten me, make me laugh, and rethink the entire book at the same time. That ending was so simple, but yet so powerful at the same time to me.

The link works now. The website must have been down or something when I clicked on it before.
