Dungeon Saga

Post by silverfoxdmt73 » Mon Dec 14, 2015 12:08 pm

Hi,

I've recently took the plunge and forked out £40 for Mantic's Dungeon Saga. I've not played yet, but I am impressed by the quality of the box and it's contents.

Has anyone else got it, and if so have you played it yet?

Can't say I've ever heard of it. Can you elaborate?

Not sure this is the right forum for this thread.

Considering this forum isn't used for anything else, we can move it later if needed.

@silverfoxdmt73

I see that it is a Dungeon Crawler board game, kinda like Descent I guess. How is it?

@Vardaen: Apologies if this is the case.. I can relocate if needed.

@TetNak: Looks good from my early exploration of the set, but not had the chance to play it yet.

Very nice.

@silverfoxdmt73

The only thing I've played similar is Imperial Assault which is a Star Wars version of Descent, basically.

Not played Imperial Assault, or Descent... I chose Dungeon Saga as the core set is a little less ££ than Descent, and it seems a little simpler to play too. I was looking for something to introduce my 9 year old to RPGs etc and this seemed like a good route in.

Dungeon Saga

Played through the first two Dungeon Saga quests with my 9 year old son over the last two nights. Seems like it could be a good purchase, James likes it (mainly because he's completed both quests) and I enjoyed it too.

I played as the Overlord and James took on the role of the Heroes. First quest was pretty much a walkover as my minions made some appalling rolls and the only overlord cards I drew were command ones so I couldn't Raise Dead once my skeletons got the chop.

Second quest wasn't as one sided as I managed to wound the mage but once James worked out how best to use his ranger to shield the magic user and (with a few hints from me) what spells were best to destroy my minions, he got to the final door and broke the ward on it before my skeletons could do any more damage.
