I realize this is an older thread, but here is my idea:
As a new player, I was overwhelmed by the site and all the forums. There should be a beginner forum that gives you tips on how to get started. Included could be some threads on different game rules and versions as well as telling new people where everything is at. Almost like a tutorial for the site.
I know I was alittle confused at first (And I still don't know half of everything on the site!!). In the Newbie section, there could be a list of things they can do on threads, like post OOC comments and the like.
If there is a place like this already, I apologize, I just haven't found it yet!!

Any ideas on where something like this might be best to put? There are lots of links all over the place already, so another link somewhere might get lost.
Also, we do have a couple of threads like that currently... I just don't remember where they are!

You can put it on the Forum front page. Just label it "Newbie Section" Or something like that. I'm sure it will help retention so new people aren't overwhelmed and just drop out after a couple days of not finding anything.
