Yep, those two reasons are part of why it hasn't been implemented yet. It always got pushed down the list... and now, I don't think it'll ever get implemented. Many other things can be done that will make things better and won't create confusion.

It is a very cool thing to have. On boards with many many players and many many games. Like RPoL. On smaller forums like this one it is a waste of resources, I think.

But what about adding the character name under your user name in the forums you play in? That would lessen the confusion as to who is who when people forget to mention who they are in their posts.

I just wanted to mention the topic. I guess it is not so important here. Agreed.

I try to start each post with the character's name as often as I can, so everyone learns it and gets used to it more.

What might be a neat sort of thing that goes along wit this is some form of Player "character sheet". This could be as simple as filling out some of your Account INformation where you put down all the games you play in, and your character name and other info. So if people click on you they can see who you are and who you play. Or possibly using the Blog to do this. Could be helpful and wouldn't require any new code for the site.

That would work, too.

Some people might like to even just put it in their signature line:

* Daerith @ Savage Tide * Ral @ Mass Effect, * Marak *, Etc...

There was someone who did put character names in their signature block. Don't recall who though.

Can we put pictures in the signature? I don't have time right now to try it, but it came to my mind that I could just put all the PC tokens together and put them there...

You can, its not impossible. Look at Bren's above, its an image. You just want to keep it small. Some people don't like big sigs, but I like the idea of a small map icon medly of your characters!
