Hi everyone,

So there has been some talk of this before, but now I'm formalizing it a bit more.

Beauty will be replacing Beast in the near future. Not sure exactly when yet, because it depends on how much free time I get and when it is.

Currently, I've got the RPG website DB importing (without errors, yay!) and will soon have a test site up for some others to play with. Would like to make sure that there are no problems with it before we make the full switchover.

Hi everyone,

I've spent some time this week working on getting Beauty into shape. Now, the DB is loaded (and the data load seems good). Over the past couple of days, I've worked on getting the website up and running.

There are still some oddities, which I'll be ironing out in the next couple of weeks. The biggest one I know of at the moment is that the pretty URLs aren't working on Beauty (ie: brennor.dyndns.org/rpg/Forums.html vs brennor.dyndns.org/rpg/index.php?name=Forums).

Beauty has an old DB load from the end of August installed so that it is rather apparent that you aren't on Beast. The Beauty install is available here: http://brennor.dyndns.org:8080/rpg/

What I'm requesting from others at the moment is to please check out the install on Beauty and:

• look for things that are broken
• look for data that didn't import correctly
• look for images that didn't import correctly
• Try posting some messages (copy/paste of existing messages is fine)

Please post anything you come across to this thread so that it can be tracked.

Broken items that I know of already:

Issues:

• SSL does not work
• pretty URLs busted

Fixed:

• None

I'll update these lists as issues are found or fixed.

I noticed apostrophes don't show correctly. Instead it looks like two boxes or something. Not sure what that is.

I followed a few links to games, and it just leads to a dead link.

I cannot get to the Player Absences with the link in the left bar, but I can reach it when I go through the forums.

Not many of the Left Box links work, About Our Games, Master Game List, Donations, Wiki (still but who cares) - no worky.

Says "The characters that you tried to include in your modules request are forbidden..."


Looks like custom adds to that are busted.

Clicking on like "Age of Ice: Fallen Empires" from the overall Forums view is busted. I get a broken link error in my browser. If I take the long way in Forums -> Pathfinder -> AoI -> Etc, it seems to work.

The same happens with any links I tried.

I'll check out the links. Most likely, the links are all busted because of the pretty URLs not working.

Can you link to a post that shows apostrophes all messed up, Tet? I think some of those might be from WAAAY back in the puke timeframe and are seriously busted (and should be on Beast too).

All of the above should be fixed now. The fix was a missing .htaccess file.

Also fixed a couple other issues I found. All in all, things are looking MUCH better on Beauty.

There was another report somewhere, but I can remember where. Anyone else know of any other problems with Beauty?
