I noticed apostrophes don't show correctly. Instead it looks like two boxes or something. Not sure what that is.

This one is likely related to the crappy data that puke let get into the database way back with the first incarnation of the site.

Beauty has been updated again. Data is from the Jan 1, 2011 backup, so don't be surprised that there are no posts from 2011 on there yet. That is by design.

Beauty is even faster now that it was before. We are now running absolute latest PostgreSQL (9.0.3), which has some significant speed benefits compared to the 8.4 upgrade that was running there.

I'm not expecting anything else to be found in this test run, but please double-check. I'll leave Beauty up for testing through all of next week, ending Feb 20th.

If there are no huge issues found (I can probably fix most of them over the next week), we can be ready to go live with Beauty by the end of this month. WOOHOO!

Also starting to ponder the time for the switchover. I'll be trying to gather some information this week as far as site usage goes. Choices for switch over are either a weeknight (late) or early on Saturday. Haven't decided which yet.

Weekend is probably best, most action seems slower on the weekends from activity in my games. Plus then work doesn't get in the way and we have time to handle this. You need any help with this, I can come over of course to lend a hand when we do it.

I agree that weekend is probably the best time for least site impact. I don't think work would impact the transition time if I chose a weeknight though. For a weeknight, it'd be like 8PM - midnight on a weeknight, not during the day.

As far as help, if you'd like to come over, no problem. However, the servers are already in place. What has to be done is move some network cables around and copy latest data from Beast to Beauty, so not too much physical work to do. Mostly time consuming in the data copy, since I'll be copying many GBs of data over a 100mbit network -- granted, I do pull at least 10MB/s between Beauty and Beast, but it will still take a while.

Weeknight or weekend are fine by me. I haven't seen any issues when I've went over there to test.
