arkahm wrote:Yeah, just tried to mark individual forums as read and can't do it yet. It will only make all forums read from the index. I'm sure you have a fix though. Still great job on the site. It's nice only having to wait a second or 2 for the forums to access now.
I think that this might actually have to do with cookies and the server change.

The mark forum as read feature has never really worked well and is up for replacement now that we are going on Beauty.

Can you try to mark forums as ready in a few days and see if it works then?

I noticed that a few letters from my signature (these: ū, ō) weren't displayed correctly, but I replaced them in my profile and now they're just like they were before the server switch.
Hmm... this likely has to do with the character encoding on the previous DB. PostgreSQL 7.4 allowed storing characters different than the DB encoding in the DB. PostgreSQL 9.0 does not. However, in PostgreSQL 9.0, UTF-8 encoding actually does work.

There may be other character encoding issues like this that pop up, though the conversion process I went through should have taken care of 99% of those.

Erg. That sucks.

I'll have to see if I can find out how many posts are affected like that.

The conversion process took the data dump and moved it through 2 different character sets and 2 different encodings, trying to capture all of the funky characters that could have been stored in the DB previously.

I'm experiencing problems with the FTP, my short cuts to the RPG folder don't work, and I can't access anyting via the RPGUser user either.

I assume B you haven't migrated all that stuff over yet?

Correct. I still have TONS of work to do on the Beast->Beauty transition.

All the work I did over the past week (since Tuesday/Wednesday -- excepting the stuff to keep Beast in check) was to get the site up and running on Beauty on Saturday in the least time possible... though most of the time taken on Saturday was making sure that your guys' home dirs were copied with the latest stuff in place.

Righto. I saw all that was over, maps and things still working. Looking good with that.

This place is almost too fast now.

Yep. Wanted to make sure that the site proper was working without issue as of Saturday.

Looks like we've got some outstanding character encoding issues that I need to look into. Probably because of people copy/pasting characters from different encodings into their posts, most likely.

Just making sure that Beauty was ready to go on Saturday kept me busy for most of the previous week, too... hence why I missed posting to some games -- that and swapping browser between Beauty/Beast blew my unreads multiple times.

Yup, for what its worth, any Posting Rules you missed in my games I'm just going going to wipe out, I sort of forgot about the Beau-easty thing last week.
