I'll have to see if I can find out how many posts are affected like that.

The conversion process took the data dump and moved it through 2 different character sets and 2 different encodings, trying to capture all of the funky characters that could have been stored in the DB previously.

I'm going to try to run some tests on imports and see if I can figure out what is going on with the character encodings.

I'll take DB dumps and try some transformations into another DB... however, a real fix may require some additional down time at a later point in time, provided I can figure out what encoding those characters are actually in (they aren't in standard windows encoding, which is what I expected).

At this point everyone should just check every game they are in and assume that the read flags might be goofed up. After checking things once, it should probably get back to normal for folks.

For my part, I almost never had any issue with read flags not working.

That will be true again, once we've been on Beauty for a while. More likely than not though, the switch from Beast -> Beauty screwed up read flags, since cookies are used to determine read flags, as opposed to server-side information.

This is why I borked my unread flags so good by swapping back and forth between Beauty and Beast.
