RPG-at-Work theme

Post by Bitom » Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:22 pm

if anyone has any suggestions for the new RPG-at-Work theme, go ahead and post them here.

current plans, in order of priority
  1. Do not show banner
  2. Do not show avatars
  3. make much less colorful and eye-catching
Idea that have been mentioned
  • Do not show signatures
  • auto-wrap all images in spoilers
  • disable all smileys
note: I do not know if all of these are even possible yet.

Wasn't there a sugestion to show a "Office" tool bar?

Personally not banner and no avatars would be the best two options for me. Pictures of fun things just aren't great at work, but the color and all the other stuff is no big deal all sorts of tech forums have colors and smilies and things.

Also, something that maybe does not say "Brennor's RPG Corner" on the top of the browser as well.

That would be better. Anything that's not obvious.

I think all 6 bullet points that have been presented above are all possible.

I'm not sure the smilies will be necessary -- they are kind of a given with forums now-a-days. However, in the new theme can just hardcode the "disable smilies in this post" value for every post.

Changing the name to BRPGC is a little bit trickier, but also possible, especially if we don't make it configurable.

I spent a little time on this today.

head on over to RPGtest ( http://brennor.dyndns.org/rpgtest/Forums.html ), log in, and have a look at the RPGatWork theme.

Everything requested except the smileys are implemented in there. I decided that V and B are right, and they're fairly ubiquitous on forums these days.
