Chapter 1B: Onslaught at Boontu

After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumors of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. The Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Chapter 1B: Onslaught at Boontu

+1 boost (aim)
lightsaber skill 2y1g
difficulty: 2p (melee)
defense 1 setback
total: 2y 1g 2p 1s
results: 3 success, 2 threat, 1 triumph
3 success = 6 + 3 = 9 - 4 soak = 5 dmg
Triumph = Target drops weapon they’re wielding
2 threat = Opponent immediately performs one free maneuver
The padawan strikes with all of his force and anger knocking the blade from Thraka's hands. However, Thraka's lightsaber hilt doesn't travel far and he is able to pick it up and provide a counter strike.
man: guarded stance, +1 melee def, +1 setback on atk
lightsaber skill 2y 1g
difficulty: 2p (melee)
Uri defense: 1 setback
total: 2y 1g 2p 2s
results: 4 success, 1 threat, 1 triumph
4 successes = 6 + 4 = 10 - 5 soak = 5 dmg
Triumph = critical injury = 1d100 = 24: Off-Balance: Add 1p to Uri's next skill check
1 threat = Loses benefit of prior maneuver, so no longer in guarded stance
The eager Jedi Knight takes a guarded stance once he recovers and ignites his lightsaber. "You don't understand. We're all going to die." Swinging his blade with all his might, his blade clashes with Uri's blade. Deciding to give up his guarded stance, Thraka changes his plans and kicks Uri knocking him off-balance.

Before Uri can react, the two young Jedi are violently pushed away from each other in opposite directions. As they fly through the air, their lightsabers turn off.

"Enough."

Standing between the pair, is Jedi Master Lorraf Nolb. The Duros holds his green lightsaber in hand with his other hand outstretched and fingers spread. Then the three men has a strange feeling through the Force, an unsettling, dreadful, and overwhelming feeling of loss like something tragic has happened throughout the galaxy.
Uri = 1y 2g = 2 success
Thraka = 1y 2g = 3 success, 1 ad
Nolb = 3y 1g = 3 successes, 3 adv
4 Clones MG = 3y = 1 success, 4 ad, 1 triumph

Clones get free maneuver (triumph), then they go last
The nearby Clones react to the orders given through their communication gear. Turning away from firing towards the incoming droids, they raise their blaster rifles raised and point at the three Jedi. The Clone Corporal then flatly and methodically states, "You have been marked for termination by Order 66. Under this directive, any and all Jedi must be executed for treason against the Republic. "
Clones: AIM +1 boost (free man)

Nolb
Inc: talk
Man: guarded stance
Act: Push
Suffer 2 strain, take another man: move from short to engaged w/troopers
Jedi Master Nolb looks to the younger Jedi and says, "Run!" As he speaks he throws his hand up once more and pushes the two farther away. Turning back towards the Clones, he performs a forward flip and lands next to the Clones.
Thraka
Man: prone to standing
Man: mount speeder
The Jedi Knight doesn't look back after he is pushed a second time. Standing up, Thraka leaps atop the nearby speeder and prepares to depart.

Padawan Uri finds himself a dozen or more meters away from where he stood against Thraka, prone, and still holding his extinguished lightsaber. Glancing around to quickly get his bearings, he sees Thraka is several dozen meters away from him and Nolb. He also notices that he is within reach of a speeder parked outside of the facility. In fact, these were the speeders used by his squad to plant the explosives in the western canyon which closed that route.

In the distance, he sees more squads of Clones enclosing on Jedi Master Nolb. Meanwhile, the battle versus the droid army still continue.

Already off-balance, Uri gets blown back just a bit further than Thraka by Lorraf's push. He goes into shock when the feeling of loss through the Force comes to him again, this time stronger than when Master Caitken was struck by Thraka and left to die. Stronger than anything he'd ever felt before. Contemplating the bond he and his Master shared, His eyes grow watery from the loss he has yet to fully comprehend. His side warms to an uncomfortable, painful degree, and he reflexively puts his hand over the area where Thraka grazed him.

He comes out of it after the clones raise their blasters at him, at Thraka, and Master Lorraf, only to go back under when Lorraf pushes them both a second time. He stands up and rushes to the speeder near him, mounting it and looking back to see Lorraf facing the troopers alone. Not Lorraf. The thought compels him to remain planted on that speeder.

"NO! Master, run!"

He reaches out with his hand to bllind the troopers to their enemy, using the Force. Just enough troopers, just enough time.

Thraka doesn't waste any time. He twists the throttle and the speeder zooms away down the canyon. However, Uri ignores Jedi Master Nolb's orders and lingers behind hoping to assist the Duros. In the distance, three other squads of Clones are running towards Jedi Master Nolb.

At a critical moment, Uri can't find his center and focus, confused and preoccupied by Lorraf's actions. Why did he break up Uri and his rival? Thraka needed to be dealt with! Why did he throw the padawans aside when he sorely needed their aid? Why didn't he choose Uri to be his padawan, when Lorraf was the only reason Uri came to the Jedi in the first place? Don't I exist to you? A voiceless hunger makes itself known, and with it, the strength needed to buy the Jedi Master the time he needs to escape and survive. Not just that, but the chance for his admiration to be reciprocated.

Possessed by darkened thoughts, the boy reaches out once more. He can feel the power promised surging forth from his being. Suddenly, Lorraf seems to vanish to the eyes of the squad of troopers currently at the scene.

Nolb, Uri, Thraka, Clones
2 new clone squads enter
Current clone squad
Man: Grab grenade
Act: Throw grenade

Skill: 3 green
Def: 1 setback
Dmg: 8, Blast 6
Range: Short, difficulty 1p

To be fair, I'm not sold on targeting invisible targets with grenades, but since these are NPCs vs NPCs, let's roll with it for now.

total: 3g 2p 1s
result: 3 success, 1 threat
Blast didn't activate, but it hit
Two additional Clone Trooper squads enter the area and take positions. With the Jedi Master invisible, they take aim at the Padawan atop the speeder bike.

Having worked with Jedi and against Separatist Force-Users, the clones have tactical experience in these matters. The Clone Squad Leader yells, "Frag grenades!" In unison, the squad pulls their frag grenades and tosses them onto the last known location of the Jedi Master.

Meanwhile, Jedi Knight Thraka speeds off into the sunset leaving a trail of dust and his Jedi companions in his wake.

Faced with his own survival against the immediate three clone squads threats, the entire clone regiment, and Separatist droid army in wait, Padawan Uri decides to ....

Scared and confused, Uri starts his speeder and zooms after Thraka. The troopers have him greatly outnumbered, and outmatched. Whether lost or not - and it very surely will be - Boonta would no longer be safe. He can only wish hard for Lorraf's survival.
Full retreat on speeder.

Chapter 1B: Onslaught at Boontu

Post by Shurijo » Wed Oct 28, 2020 8:21 pm

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Chapter 2

With remorse and reluctance, Padawan Uri flees the Boonta Ordinance and Resupply Depot. After what seemed like hours, he finally slows down his speeder to a stop. Looking back, he sees no dust trails indicating anyone has followed him. Likewise, looking ahead his delay allowed Jedi Knight Thraka to escape into the desolate terrain.

While taking a moment to breath, he looks down to notice his Jedi Beacon Transceiver flashing. This transmission includes a recall notice to ignore the previous transmission, which must have been sent during his departure or the engagement with Thraka or the Clones. Once he activates it, a hologram of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi appears.

"This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both
our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen, with the dark
shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message
is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi:

Trust in the Force.

Do not return to the Temple. That time has passed, and our
future is uncertain. We will each be challenged – our trust,
our faith, our friendships – but we must persevere, and in
time, a new hope will emerge.

May the Force be with you. Always."

In the distance, the largest settlement on this side of the planet, Living Pits, can be seen. The city is known for its podracing, crime, and spice-smuggling. There is also a space port within the city, which might be Uri's only chance to leave the planet. Several months ago, Uri remembers a podrace, which took place several months, that he and Jedi Master Caitken watched with interest.

The voice of Jedi Master Caitken echoes within his thoughts. The response given when Uri asked why they were attending a podrace. "You must not forget who we are fighting for. Without order and justice, there will only be darkness."

Uri tucks his lightsaber beneath his robe and, with a heavy heart, revs his speeder again and drives toward the Living Pits. He plays the message a second time and listens to Master Obi-Wan's words carefully. Besides Boonta, the Jedi Temple had been his life. "Who are we fighting for, now?" he asks out loud.

Alone with his grief, he remembers the Jedi in his clan. The Masters. The people he met at BORD. Skid, Buzzard, Omen. He tries to remember more names. Lucky, still bloody and passed out in a triage. Drash Caitken and the last Jedi alive on Boonta, Thraka and himself. The quartermaster and his assistant. Glo Ka! In all the turmoil, Uri had forgot to get him. He blinks rapidly to clear his eyes. Glo died to, didn't he? No, he's alive. The clones were executing Jedi, not Ensigns. Maybe sympathisers too. Hopefully, Uri didn't give Glo the push to be a vocal one.

Lorraf has to be alive, too. The notion that he could be dead enters Uri's mind, and he shrinks from it, disgusted. May the Force be with them both.

Post by Shurijo » Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:46 pm

Looking onwards, the last words spoken to him by Thraka echo in his thoughts. "You don't understand. We're all going to die." He considers the statements for a moment, wondering was this a warning or a threat?

As the young padawan approaches civilization, he sees that the town is bustling with people. Even from a distance, he can see signs and banners hanging for the Boonta Speeder Race. As he watches, he notices freighters and transports coming and going from the spaceport located on the opposite edge of town. The town is lightly guarded by city guardsmen. There is a gate at the edge of town, but there are openings in the surrounding wall large enough for a star destroyer to fly through.

It must have been a warning. He wouldn't have said "we" if he was trying to menace Uri. It lines up with the murder. Kill one Jedi Master, send hundreds of clones to their deaths, to make sure... Then, Uri cuts off his own train of thought. Thraka knew! How did Thraka learn about the kill order? Was that why he joined the droid army? Why didn't he say anything? Baffled, Uri resolves to hunt down his rival.

He opts to fly his speeder through one of the gaps in the wall around Living Pits. The sooner he can get into town, the sooner he can find Thraka or someone who'd seen him.
