Chapter 1D: Last Days of the Republic

After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumors of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. The Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The galaxy is in conflict. After years
of growing tension, the worlds of the
SEPARATIST ALLIANCE have seceded
from the GALACTIC REPUBLIC. Under
the leadership of the Jedi Knights,
clone troopers fight bravely against
the remorseless droid army.

At the request of the Senate,
SENATOR BAIL ORGANA is recalled to
Coruscant. Under mandate from
Grand Master Yoda, Jedi TEMPLE
GUARDS complement the Alderaan
guards.

On the Alderaan docking bay, the
senator's personal ship, TANTIVE IV,
and crew await the senator and his
entourage to arrive...

Chapter 1D: Last Days of the Republic

The CR90 Corvette's hull was colored white, as many other CR90 corvettes. However, this vessel's unique appearance included distinctly painted dark red lines. The interior walls of the corridors and chambers were also adorned in white and dark red colors. As a vessel of state, the ship featured dining rooms for hosting state dinners, as well as conference centers suitable for negotiations with interstellar dignitaries. Supporting the ship were more than forty crew members.

Boarding a transport vessel, Senator Bail Organa is accompanied by Jedi Knight Granite and three of Alderaan's finest guards. Once aboard the vessel, the pilot takes off towards the landing platform reserved for Tantive IV. It was a hasty departure from the senator's residence, but it is also a common occurrence. So common, that nearly all the crew and guards keep a packed "to go bag" ready with personal belongings in case of an unscheduled departure.
1 more post, probably tomorrow
There's a Jedi Knight, Jedi Padawan, and you/MWD as far as Jedi. I'll introduce those 2 and add them to NPC thread tomorrow.

Chapter 1D: Last Days of the Republic

Three Jedi are assigned to guard the senator. The senior Jedi Knight has recently been reassigned back to the Coruscant Jedi Temple. This left an opening which the newly knighted Jedi Granite accepted. Upon their arrival at Coruscant, the two week transition period where the senior Jedi Knight instructs and provides guidance to the younger Jedi Knight will conclude. Along with Jedi Knight Rikros Batu is accompanied by Jedi Padawan Zett Jukassa.

As the senator's transport and escort arrives to the landing platform, the two Jedi stand on opposite sides of the ramp along with a pair of Alderaan guards. Stepping out of the transport and beginning to ascend, the ramp, the senator stops and speaks to Jedi Knight Batu. "I've been told you will return to the Temple when we arrive on Coruscant. Thank you for your service. Please inform Grand Master Yoda that Jedi Knight Granite has done great and will do a fine job carrying on your work."

The Kel Dor Jedi Knight bows his head and replies, "It has been an honor to serve, Senator." The rest of his escort follows Senator Organa up the ramp leaving the two Jedi Knights and Padawan enter the ship last.
Feel free to mingle a bit, the ship will take off in a bit and we'll get going

His face covered by the masked helm of the Temple Guards, reading his visage is an impossible task. But from his bearing he stands proud from the compliment by Senator Organa, and gives a small bow as he boards the ramp. He stamps the butt of his lightsaber pike on the ground energetically, facing outboard from the ship. "An interesting man. I will be pleased to guard someone of his caliber. Thank you for entrusting me to carry on in your stead, Jedi Batu." He nods respectfully to the senior Knight.

Looking around the landing platform, he eyes the ship and the environs. "I'm going to do one last look around the perimeter. Can't be too careful with the war on." Leaving the option open on whether either will join him, Granite begins a slow but steady walk around the ship. Explosive devices are always an assassination or sabotage threat, especially against such a visible political figure. Tracking devices too. As an engineer who additionally feels the Force flowing through the mechanisms around him, he can also survey for any deficient heat shielding or weakened struts that may have been missed by maintenance.

Chapter 1D: Last Days of the Republic

Post by Shurijo » Sun Oct 04, 2020 2:15 pm

As Jedi Knight Granite inspects the ship, he is joined by Jedi Padawan Zett Jukassa. After the death of his master, the young Human male was reassigned to Temple Battlemaster Cin Drallig. At the request of Grand Master Yoda, Battlemaster Drallig assigned Zett to Senator Organa's security detail. The padawan was deemed too young to rejoin the war after witnessing his master's, Jedi Mierme, death in the first encounter of the Clone Wars. As he has yet to pass the Jedi Trials and become knighted, the young boy's face remains unhidden by the traditional mask of Jedi Temple Guards.

"Hey, Granite." The young boy says as he approaches, "Rikros said I should follow you around and learn what you're doing. She said you knew what you were doing down here."Zett follows and asks questions of Granite as he finishes his inspection.

As they board the ship, the engines begin to start up. Behind them, the ramp raises and locks into position. As they settle into positions, the ship slowly begins to lift off. After a few moments, they leave the planet's atmosphere.

"Ten minutes to hyperspace route." The pilot says over the intercom. Once the ship nears the route, they will enter hyperspace and begin their journey to Coruscant. The Commenor Run takes them through the Cirius System (Caamas), Korfo System (Korfo II), and Tepasi System (Tepasi), and finally the Brentaal System where the Commenor Run begins. The ship then changes course to the super-hyperroute Perlemian Trade Route which takes them through the Azure Systm (Anaxes) then finally the Coruscant System (Coruscant).

The Jedi finds the Kel Dor Jedi standing outside the senator's study. She, as always, is quite and doesn't initiate conversations. The padawan looks at Grante and Rikros and then says, "I'll be in the lounge. I'm hungry."

After Kett departs, Rikros asks-or possibly states, its difficulty for most to tell with her inflection, "All clear?"

Granite does his best to describe both the physical and unseen aspects of the ship and their environs he is looking for. From what any engineer could detect he points out any discoloration in panels or cabling. Signs of fraying or breakage. Disruptions in the smooth lines of the ship that might indicate a loose armor panel. That sort of thing.

Describing what he feels in the Force is a whole lot harder to verbalize. Every individual experiences the universe through their own perspectives and feelings. It is up to each Jedi to discover their understandings on their own; the best he can do is say what he thinks and hope for the best. He tries to speak about how he feels the flow of energy through a machine. Not just flows of electricity and plasma, but on a deeper level than that. The interconnectivity of the metal lattices in the structure of an alloy. A subtle feeling that a machine is out of harmony with itself. How he touches a strut and urges it to correct its imperfections, strengthening it. He hopes that the Padawan gets some use out of his descriptions, and trusts that Zett will successfully find his own path.

---

Speaking to Rikros' query, he responds with "Yes, only minor fixes made here and there. Nothing that would have endangered our flight, but useful teaching opportunities nonetheless. Padawan Zett is an attentive listener, and takes his duties seriously. A good sign."

Jedi Knight Rikros nods, but doesn't respond to Granite's report. Rikros hasn't been cold or unfriendly, but she's not the most talkative of the Jedi. Other than providing Granite with details and guidance, she hasn't engaged with either Granite or Kett. The young padawan described her as "too serious" and "doesn't even play Dejarik with the crew."

The pair stand outside Senator Organa's study as the ship begins orienting itself for its hyperspace jump. Opening the door, the senator begins to exit when the emergency lights engage. Captain Raymus Antilles voice comes over the intercomm. "To your stations."

Looking at the two Jedi, the senator says. "Let's get to the bridge."

Once they arrive, Captain Antilles is giving orders to the navigators to hurry up with their astrogation calculations. "Sir, we can't rush it or we'll end up inside a black hole or a planet," is their reply.

"Sir, there's a pirate fleet on an intercept course. It appears we'll need to engage them before we have time to make the jum..." The Captain begins.

As the Clone Wars raged across the galaxy, the Jedi, who once kept the peace, have instead become leader of the Republic's Armies, and the duties they once tended have gone neglected. The parasites who always existed at the fringes of the Republic, such as slavers, smugglers, and pirates, have become bolder. A senate transport ship that once would have been inviolable has now become an easy target.

*Boom* The the ship shakes as a missile impacts its shield.

"Captain, ion torpedo starboard side. Another torpedo in 5.. 4.."

"Captain, shields at 45 perce..." *Boom* The second ion torpedo makes contact as the shield rattles under the pressure of the explosion. "...25 percent."

"Captain, turbolasers and canons engaging."

"Captain, three minutes until astrogation calculations are complete."

Outside, several pirate ships engage on the ship's starboard, port, and aft sides.

"Sir, we need to secure you to your chambers." Jedi Knight Rikros Batu instructs the senator. "It is unlikely they are here to salvage the ship's remains. We should expect a boarding party."

Senator Organa appears confused for a moment, "This is unheard of. Who would be this bold?" He doesn't immediate show signs of complying with her request.

"Breach in Sector 32-A. Sealing compartment."

Granite runs a quick status check on his equipment, making sure his armor is moving correctly, his toolkit is on him, and his commlink is active. He sends out a comm to the trainee that went to get a snack. "Jedi Padawan Zett Jukassa, we are under attack by raiders. Rally immediately at the bridge, then I will move to engage any boarders." He fires up his lightsaber pike to similarly test it is online, then turns it off for the time being. No reason to chance an accident.

Turning to their ward, he speaks more. "Senator Organa, it may be simple raiders or a targeted assault by the Separatists. We need you to stay securely on the bridge while the threat is handled. You and the bridge crew should lock yourselves in, so unless they brought equipment to burn through the door they can't take you hostage." He does not speak for Knight Rikros as to what she and the Padawan will do. But at least he can slow or eliminate the boarders, at least buying time until they can enter hyperspace.

Chapter 1D: Last Days of the Republic

Post by Shurijo » Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:15 pm

The captain calls over the intercom, "Security to docking tunnel. Standby."

Jedi Knight Rikros accepts that the senator won't leave the bridge and nods her head at Granite's proposition. "Let's get to the docking tunnel to assist the security detail."

After a few moments, the padawan responds, "I'm trapped! The doors are jammed and won't open!"

As the Jedi begin to depart, Rikros stops and says, "Get Zett. I'll head to the tunnel. Send him back to the bridge once you get him free. If you're unable to free him, and he's safe there, just leave him for now."

"Captain, two minutes until astrogration calculations are finished."

The senior Jedi Knight then presses a button opening the sealed doors. Turning to the Captain, she says "Once they breach, DO NOT open this door under ANY circumstances."

As the doors seal behind them, the Jedi hear, "Captain, three vessels incoming. Two tractor beams locked on. We can't jump."

Granite hurries towards the young Padawan to find the doors of that compartment locked. After a quick inspection, he finds a fuse of the magna lock's power outlay differentiator has been blown due to the ion torpedo. It appears that life-support, gravity, and other compartmental systems are working as normal.
There's a couple different options for you here. You only really have time for one option, then you need to hurry to docking tunnel.

If you go the skill route, then I just wanted to make sure I'm correctly doing the math since you have a bunch of talents/abilities here.

Difficulty to repair = 3 difficulty - Hard task (hard due to not carrying around a box of unused fuses)
1 Setback for being under attack = minus 1 Setback for Gearhead

Using the force, you can add a Manipulate Force Power Check, converting all LS to success/adv. And you can commit a FD to upgrade your mechanics (so 1 green/ability is upgraded to 1 yellow/prof)

I think this would total: 3 purple/difficulty 3 yellow/proficiency 1 white/force

For Force die, any LS can be converted to success/advantage. If its a DS, then you can flip a LS destiny point to convert those to LS results (assuming LS destiny point is available).

"Hold on, Padawan. I'll have you out in a minute." He pulls out his tool kit while reaching out to the differentiator, feeling where it just is ... wrong. Using the guidance of both his mind and the Force to try to fix it, opening up the door.
I don't think it works like that. If I 'Commit' a Force Die, I only have the 1 Die. I then can't use it on any Rolls, since I have Zero left over. So I have to choose either to use the Commit power (Upgrade) or Roll the Die (possibility of a success if I roll Light Side).
- I'm going to go with the Upgrade. So 3 Yellow vs 3 Purple.
