After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumors of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. The Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Janos and Shoshannah take a walk towards the mining facility's lab. It's not as fancy as the resources at the Jedi Temple, but after some rewiring and power redirection, they are able to make an attempt to decrypt the files.
At her suggestion to try the last file, even with the extra computing power Janos' attempts fails. After an hour or so of work, they try the second file again. This time, they are successful with the second file.
PROJECT BLUE SHADOW GAS
The Candorian plague was a very contagious and
deadly disease caused by the Blue Shadow Virus.
It triggered epidemics that decimated entire planets.
Dr. Nuvo Vindi and his microbial epidemiologists
have concluded their research into a designer strain
of the Blue Shadow virus. The virus is notorious for
being supposedly incurable, with a 96% success rate
in killing carbon-based life-forms. The Blue Shadow
Virus, in its natural form, is a waterborne virus. A
victim infected with the plague only had 48 hours
to live before the virus became fatal. The Vindi
plan is to create an airborne variant from the
waterborne virus.
The news concerning Dr. Vindi's laboratory on Naboo
is quite disconcerting. The facility was long touted as
the most secure within the Confederacy. However, that
didn't prevent the Galactic Republic from putting an
end to his work. Not only did the Republic thwart his
progress, Jedi Master Kenobi and Jedi Knight Skywalker
discovered the cure and saved the infected. Republic
scientists synthesized the antidote using reeksa root
taken from the rare plant on Iego.
I have begun working from Dr. Vindi's notes. I request
a facility maintenance crew to address the lack of
proper cooling, drainage, and power. Without proper
temperature control, the moon's humidity will affect
my research and possibly lead to another failure.
- Voren Hexabuda
We have received the shipment of aerosol grenades.
While my strain is not yet as strong as Dr. Vindi's,
I believe my team will be successful within months.
Once the variant strain is finalized, we can begin
mass production of the grenades. Even with the
Republic knowledgeable about the cure, they will
not be able to produce enough of the cure if we
take quick and decisive action.
- Voren Hexabuda
After two weeks, the cooling system has failed once
again. The facility maintenance crew must return
immediately. If the laboratory is not brought back to
the proper temperature range, our work will be lost.

Splitting to Chapter 3b: Polis Massa Base Exterior thread
If only Granite and Uri will be going along, then I'll spin off a separate thread.
If Shoshannah and Janos wishes to take another task (either further research/computer stuff) or another thing, let me know and we can start there or you can join the others.
Shoshannah leans back and stares up at the ceiling, then looks forward again at the data Janos decrypted. "This is bad news. I think. We can't be sure whether or not the Separatists succeeded. Let's hope they didn't. This sounds really nasty. And let's hope this is the only surviving copy of the research notes and this new Empire didn't lay hold of them too." She leans back to stare at the ceiling again. "I want to warn someone to keep an eye out for this, but there's no one left to warn, is there? We're what's left of the Jedi, as far as we know." She gestures at the computer screen. "I want to do something about this, but I don't know what to do."
As Janos and Shoshannah look over the decrypted and re-assembled files, they fail to hear and notice the quite footsteps of a youngling. When they glance over, they notice Hedala staring at them. The young girl states, "I'm bored listening to Master Tan. He tells too many stories. What are you doing? Anything fun?"

The last file will take longer to decrypt. Since we've already tried today with file 3, we'll need to wait another day to try again. If there's other leads you want to follow up on, or other tasks, just let me know. Otherwise, I can plant another hook or you can join with the other group going to secure the perimeter outside of the facility.
"When I was your age, I loved the stories," Janos responds. "Especially the ones Master Yoda used to tell."
"I'm afraid what we're doing isn't all that fun - we're attempting to decrypt some files Jedi Shoshannah had, but I think that's enough of an attempt today." Janos smiles at the girl, though his expression is also sad. He wonders what has happened to the younglings at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
The young girl smiles and glances over to Shoshannah and back, "I always wanted to see other worlds. I've only been here and home. And there's nothing to see here. There's not even any animals or birds to look at." While her face looks bored, the young girl still appears happy to be along with the others.
"Yes," says Shoshannah, "not all worlds are very nice places." She thinks for a moment. "I've traveled to many worlds. I could show you holos of them and tell you about what I saw there." She would be glad to get mind off the files for a while. If she did that, maybe something would come to her about what they could do about the dangers described on them.
"Master Tan says the holonet isn't accessible, because the Empire is blocking everything. We've been listening to him tell stories and watching him try to draw things." The young girl shoulders slumps. "Tomas told me about where he's from. It sounded really nice. Where are you from?"
Janos glances at Shoshannah and shrugs. "I'm not really sure where I'm from originally. Like most younglings, I was given to the Jedi at a very young age. I've seen a lot of spaceports though. Master Rhan Vel Aath dragged me around a lot, chasing criminals."
Shoshannah said, "I think I have some of my own holo records of the places I visited--images I captured for myself to help me remember them." She takes out her datapad and calls one of them up. "I'm afraid the stories I have to tell aren't very exciting. They're mostly about helping people with their farms."
