Chapter 4: Red Blades

After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumors of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. The Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Round 2: Grand Inquisitor, **Jedi**
Skill: med ggg
diff: pp
result: 1 success 1 threat
recovers 1 wound (no wounds to recover)
gain 1 strain :(

Janos attempts to find peace to relieve some of his mental stress and strain from the recent encounter with the former Jedi turned Inquisitor, but he is unable to to put aside their current conflict to clear his mind.

Round 3: **Grand Inquisitor,** Jedi

maneuver: move closer
act: atk

rolling to pick a character at random:
1 = Uri
2 = Shoshannah
3 = Janos
4 = Granite
result: 1 Uri

atk: yyyy
diff: +3 setbacks (concealment) melee pp
uri def: 2 setbacks (melee def, inc lightsider def)

total: yyyy sss ss pp
uri misdirect = inquis gains 2 threats (1 per committed force die)

result: 1 triumph, 3 threats, 2 successes
1 triumph = crit
3 threats = Character’s attack rebounds, character suffers half the damaged dealt by the check, reduced by soak
dmg: 6+2=8 (breach 1 cuts through soak)

inquis dmg = 4 (breach 1 cuts through soak)

uri's crit 60 = Agonizing Wound: The target increases the difficulty of all Brawn and Agility checks by one until the end of the encounter.

uri's crit for going over wound threshold: Discouraging Wound: Flip one light side Destiny point to a dark side Destiny Point (reverse if NPC).
With the Grand Inquisitor within striking range of the concealed Jedi, he holds out his blade and the Jedi watch in horror as the red lightsaber spins around his grips. Some might recall holovids of General Grievous employing a similar technique that was near impossible to defend against even for the Jedi Masters.

His spinning blade cuts through the smoke finding a blurred vision of Padawan Urizen. Uri's lightsaber blade makes contact with the Inquisitor's red blade. His misdirection aids in opening an counter blow. The lightsaber of Master Caitken slices across the shin of the Grand Inquisitor, cutting through his armor and leaving what could be a nasty scar. However, the Inquisitor's blade is too much for the young Jedi and quickly slices through his defenses. A moment later, the padawan lets out a shout and falls to the ground unconscious with an agonizing and discouraging wound. His former master's lightsaber blade goes dark as it falls from his hand.

Uri - 15 wounds, (fear) 2 setbacks until end of encounter - unconscious
Granite - 4 strain, (fear) 2 setbacks until end of encounter
Janos - 4 strain
Shoshannah -

Red Blade Sister - unconscious
Grand Inquisitor - 4 wounds
Round 3: Grand Inquisitor, **Jedi**

With Padawan Urizen unconscious on the floor and the Inquisitor within lightsaber reach of them, the Jedi Granite, Janos, and Shoshannah are a few meters away from the facility's exit to the exterior landing pad area.

Granite is a soldier, through-and-through. He leaves no man behind, even if it exposes him to danger and death himself. He quickly pivots to turn his forward inertia into angular momentum, pivoting and ducking to grab onto the prone body of Uri, heave upwards, and begin running again. It is a strenuous move, but at least they aren't both covered in heavy commander armor. Compared to that, it isn't much worse than carrying a sack of supplies.

Without looking back, he runs for the ship.
Action: Pick up Uri. Maneuver: Move for the ship. Spend 2 strain for a 2nd Maneuver: Move even more towards the ship.

Seeing Uri fall before the Inquistor's blade and Granite grab him, Shoshannah abandons any attempt to maintain the pall of smoke around them. She turns and runs, following Granite.
Maneuver x2: Run like hell.

Part of Janos wishes to stay and test himself against their foe, but he also feels responsible for the others. He hesitates for only a moment and then follows the others.
I will follow and stay in the back if we care about running order.

The group decides not to stay and fight against their newest challenger. With Jedi Knight Granite carrying the unconscious padawan, they push through the Jedi Shoshannah's dissipating smoke concealment towards the exit.

Once they arrive at the door, they slip through their makeshift entrance and immediately feel the
heat. As their vision adjusts to the bright and ash-laden exterior, they hear thunder storms in the distance.

Turning to scan their surroundings they find ... what they would recognize as a company of white clone-trooper-like armored soldiers. At a glance, it seems there's nearly a hundred soldiers with blaster rifles and two large crew blaster weapons aimed at them.

From behind them, they hear the familiar voice. "Put down your lightsabers and do not resist, and I will see to it that your padawan be placed in our bacta tanks to recover from his wounds. There are not enough tanks for all of you, so I suggest you consider your options very carefully.

Granite stops in his tracks, his eyes scanning their surroundings for possible surprise advantages or routes of egress. Finding none, he stands proudly, disdainfully tossing his vibro-axe to the group. He reaches into his belt and pulls out a stim, jamming it in Uri's leg to at least stabilize him after the gutting he took a second ago. While he never personally had to surrender during any battle of the Clone Wars, at worst they beat a hasty retreat, he will not give them the satisfaction of cowardice in the face or death or worse.

Shoshannah quickly glances at the others to see what they are doing, then slowly raises her hands above her head. She doesn't see any way out of this. At least right now. If they were imprisoned, they might be able to escape. If they were killed--well, she had heard rumors of Force ghosts, but didn't want to see if she might become one.

Lastly, Janos complies. Placing both his lightsaber and the captured weapons of the female inquisitor on the ground before him, he wordlessly stares down the other inquisitor as if to say, "I'll want those back."

Watching Jedi Shoshannah and Janos comply with the Imperial's orders and with Padawan Uri in no place to comment, Jedi Granit realizes that it's best to lay down his arms as well...
