Chapter 4: Red Blades

After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumors of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. The Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Chapter 4: Red Blades

Post by Shurijo » Fri May 21, 2021 12:38 pm

As Jedi Knight Granite moves towards the smoking lifter, the other Jedi is left to figure out their next move. Padawan Uri offers to sneak into the compound, while Jedi Shoshannah and Jedi Knight Janos debate hacking into the facilities communications network.

Granite approaches the Mustafarians, who appear to be verbally accusing each other over the situation. The Mustafarian chief points in the direction and one of the workers runs off. The other two begin disassembling the panels of the droid so they can see the interior damage.

Meanwhile, on the other landing pad, a Lambda-class T-4a shuttle lands. Immediately, the squad of white armored soldiers and the two gray figures now accompanied by a figure dressed in black arrive to greet the passengers. When the ramp lowers, a phalanx of red robed individuals exits surrounding a black robed figure.

The six white armored soldiers and two gray armored figures follow the four red robed guards and two black robed individuals into the building. It appears the red robed guards are escorting the black robed figure who exited the shuttle. The two black robed figures joined and walked side by side as the white and gray armored soldiers followed behind them.

Uri looks between the two remaining Jedi with him and Granite going off to draw attention. He stares at the folks in robes for perhaps a second too long. He looks toward the compound, rooted by the compulsion to remain with the group, but clearly he prefers his own idea.

"I have a datapad, if... Uh, nevermind. I'll go help with that droid problem."

He wanders over to where Granite and the droid are, and silently begins helping them fix the droid, but doing so without providing assistance, making an effort to do so without any collaboration.
As part of Granite's distraction, Uri is going to make a genuine effort to fix their droid, but completely separate from their efforts. As a result, he may end up just being in the way.

Shoshannah looks at Janos. "I don't like the look of the group that just landed," she whispered. "They have the look of some pretty important and their personal attendants." She glances over at Granite and Uri. "It looks like out techs are creating a distraction, so sneak aboard it is."

She takes a deep breath and then begins moving carefully through the area, trying not to draw attention, but looking like she feels comfortable where she is, waiting for a chance to slip aboard the cargo vessel unnoticed.

Can we still have Janos give the computer terminal the college try before we move into the compound?

Yeah, let's have Janos and Shoshannah give it a go."
"I don't like it either," Janos replies. "They look dangerous too. I think we resort to combat only in great need here," he adds, wondering if bringing his lightsaber had been a good or bad idea

"Uri, let me borrow your datapad," he says quietly before the other man joins Granite. "Now, to find a place to plug in."

Well, that backfired quickly. Granite has no idea who these dark-robed figures are, but they sure don't radiate sunshine and rainbows. He immediately reverses his tactic of loud and brash, and shuts the hell up. He stops deliberately drawing attention to himself, instead trying to generally look busy while keeping an eye out.

Shoshannah nods at Janos' words. "Yes, those are not people I want to fight. And if we can do this without sneaking in, all the better," she whispers.

Bonus provided by Granite and Uri's distractions

Deception
Granite skill = gg
Uri skill = g
diff p

Granite = ggp = 1 success
Uri = gp = 1 success, 1 threat

Each distraction success will remove a failure

---------------------------------------------

Stealth
Janos skill = yyg
Shoshannah skill = yg
diff ppp

Janos = yygppp = 3 success, 1 threat
Shoshannah = ygppp = 5 failures

Janos passes 2 successes to Shoshannah, brings failures to 3
Granite and Uri passes 2 successes to Shoshannah, brings failures to 1

Janos threat = increase time by 25%
Janos and Shoshannah turn and begin to quietly stalk towards the other landing pad. Meanwhile, Uri and Granite provide a distraction that turns the attention of the Mustafarians towards them giving the other Jedi a chance to slip unnoticed.

While the moved, Janos is able to pass through the landing area and towards the other landing pad without being noticed. However, Shoshannah's stealth isn't as well trained. As she looks back, she bumps into stack of shipping crates. The sounds and shifting of the crates alerts the Mustafarian supply chief to her location.

"Hey there!" The Mustafarian supply chief shouts in the direction towards Shoshannah.

When Janos hears the supply chief, he realizes that Shoshannah has been spotted. The Jedi now needs to decide whether to continue or go back to assist her.
Janos can continue unnoticed or stay with Shoshannah.

Shoshannah can just run or wait for supply chief and try to deceive them.

Granite and Uri can re-try distraction, difficulty would now be hard "ppp". If the total distraction is >= 1 success (with no despairs), then Shoshannah can slip away again.

"Oh, sorry, sorry," says Shoshannah. "Just looking around." She walks back to her ship. "I'll get out of the way." She doesn't like leave Janos alone, but at this point, she fears her presence will be more of a burden than a help.

Granite bumps hard into one of the Mustafarians as they're all gathered around the mechanical wreck. "Hey, watch it! I want off this rock sooner rather than later, I've got orders to fill. Every extra minute here is Credits out of my ass."
Sure, why not? :P Try to be distracting again.
