Chapter 1: A Mandalorian Never Forgets

Realizing they would never be able to control Mandalore and wanting to make sure no other faction did, the Empire launched the so-called "Great Purge" against the Mandalorians. Some attempted to fight the Imperial effort, but the purge nevertheless led to the near-total genocide of the Mandalorian people. Some Mandalorians, survived the Purge and fled Mandalore, though they scattered across the galaxy.

Lassa looks back at Rayne to answer her question. "The Zann Consortium provided supplies to the Empire and secretly to the Rebels. After the Empire fell and their fleet left the sector, others moved in to take some the Consortium's profits and supplies before the New Republic could get established. It may take years for the New Republic to protect the shipping lanes in the Outer Rim, if they ever do.

"Listen, I'm no friend of the Empire, but they knew how to police the shipping lanes. Since the Empire fell, consortiums and syndicates have begun to rise and fall. The Zann Consortium is one of the falling and the Crimson Dawn is one of the rising."

"We also believe that someone on the inside is providing the Crimson Dawn with data about our shipments. While embarrassing, this is not unexpected. Once we find the offender or offenders, they will regret betraying the trust of the Zann Consortium. This is why we need outsiders and issued the bounty."

Rayne says, "Do you have any clues who your traitor is? It will make our job easier if we can lean on them to get access to Crimson Dawn. Though I suppose if you did know, you wouldn't be needing to hire us."

The Pantoran woman nods negatively. "I have a few leads for you, but nothing about the spy."

Lassa then removes a small datapad from a pocket inside her jacket. She activates it, scanning its screen briefly before she begins. "Your first lead is an individual named Graf Lind. He was one of the Crimson Dawn’s brigands, until he lost favor with them six years ago. Though nearly killed by his former associates, he managed to escape. We have discovered his current whereabouts--a dwelling in a local slum. His information is surely outdated, but he may have valuable intel."

She then pauses for questions regarding Graf Lind then continues, "The second lead is Krezo Wasanti. He is a fence who operates his business near the starport. He came to our attention when he attempted to sell one of our agents some of our own goods, pillaged in one of the Crimson Dawn's recent raids. He must have some connection to the pirates, given he is obviously dealing in goods they have stolen."

She then pauses for questions regarding Krezo Wasantithen continues, "The last lead isn't a person so much as a resource. Our slicers uncovered a data node called 'CrimsonNet.' Though ostensibly used to schedule tours of Saleucami’s more rugged wastelands, the name alone is suspicious, and its security level is far too high for a mere tourism outfit. Should you have expertise in slicing, you might be able to learn more there."

She then pauses for questions regarding CrimsonNet, then continues, "We are very eager to see this matter taken care of in a prompt and well-executed manner." She slides the datapad loaded with all the information pertaining to the leads she mentioned towards the Mandalorians, as well as with a comlink code through which she can be reached.
Feel free to ask questions about either of the 3 leads (or anything else). You don't need to follow all of the leads, maybe 1 or 2 or 3 might give you enough intel to locate your bounty.

Resyr sits silently, listening to the information that is shared. "So," the Mandalorian asks, "what do you except as proof of death? If we have to bring a head back, I'd like to know up front."

Lassa looks plainly back at the Mandalorian, "If she'll dead, we'll know. But if you can't bring her in, then you can confirm using a medical scanner." A medical scanner is used to do medical diagnostics on various lifeforms, and is generally included aboard starships and in various hospitals.
There's a handheld medical scanner on the ship, in med bay/first aid kit

Rayne says, "In regard to Graf Lind, I imagine his help might be easier to get if we were able to offer him protection from Crimson Dawn and a new start in life. Would you be willing to let us negotiate such a deal on your behalf?"

Lassa looks at the other woman and replies, "You can tell him anything you want, but if you're offering up anything then it'll come out of your bounty."

"Captain, if we're going to be slicing into a datanode, we'll need proper gear," Lorn says over comms. "If it's basic security, I might be able to manage it, but that's not my specialty."

Rayne leans back in her chair. "How eager are you to crack this? We're more likely to get something out of Graf if we can offer him something than if we just threaten him. I'm sure he's dealt with plenty of threats, but not many offers of a new life. And surely having one more security guard or the like won't hurt your budget." She steeples her hands. "If that doesn't work for you though, fine. We'll take another route. But if you could get us set up with the proper slicing gear to crack CrimsonNet, that would go a long way to helping us."

Negotiation
skill: 3g
vs Lassa (4 pres, 3 neg)
total: ggg prrr
result: 2 failures, 1 threat
Lassa's eyes squint for a moment before saying, "I can offer 2,500 credits up front. If you fail to deliver on the bounty, then we'll find you. You can use that for acquiring gear or for Graf."
