Here begins the side tale of our heroes who are adrift in the Gateway City of Dhiliz. After several encounters with the locals of the city it can become apparent that the Rawun Kasib is the spitting image of a well known an very wealthy merchant by the name of Bassam Reehan. After an encounter the main bazaar with a nursemaid and then an assassination attempt on Kasib something has to be done about this.

Kasib, along with Rambad and Ahmed once again split off from the rest of the group, who have all decided to continue their research in the Mosque of Zann, in search of Bassam Reehan. They find themselves heading down the eastern streets of the city, close to many of the larger and richer mosques. The locals have provided some useful directions to Bassam's estate, and the trio now hurry along heading there.
Welcome to the side thread guys. This is for only those going with Kasib.

Kasib wakes up surprisingly early for him. He is not the earliest riser in the group, that is for sure, but today is a bit different. He is excited to find out what is going on. Obviously, something is amiss, and the rawun is determined to find out what.

As the trio leave the inn, Kasib looks to both, "Well, it is daylight, I doubt anyone would dare shoot me." He clears his throat, "Do you think?" Frowning, he shrugs, "I wished I had a veil right now."

As the troupe heads out Ahmed finally asks his two companions, "So fill me in Effendi's. Is this noble the one that hired the assassin? Or is the lead something completely different." His eyes watch the high rooftops as they travel the street, paying attention to the shadows where the rays of the jungle sun skip away in fear of the darkness.

Kasib shrugs to Ahmed speaking as he walks, "I have no idea," he says, "All I know is that people are mistaking me as his son. So, I would have to doubt it was he that hired the assassin."

Rambad shugs, "We don't know if the merchant is teh one that hired the assassin. We do know that woman the other day in the bazaar was happy to see Kasib, strange enough, but she didn't seem ready to hire an assassin. I think we shall find out soon enough..." Rambad points and the estate of Bassam Reehan appears before the group.

The estate is set on the edge of the of a canal that seperates the main plazas of the city from a wealthy residential district. The villa is a large ivory marble construct of several stories. A walled courtyard seperates it from the street, with a garden inside the wall before one reaches the house proper. Palms and flowers can be seen inside. Posted at the gate are two Mamluks of The Exhalted that stand in full arms and armor protecting the front gate of Bassam's estate. They eye the nearing trio wit causion and suspicion, their minimal tattooes on their faces mark them as lower level Mamluk's of their organization.

Kasib walks straight up to the Mamluks and says, "We are here to speak to Bassam." He clear his throat, "Can you please alert him to this?"

The Mamluks look at Kasib, then at one another with a shocked look on their face. "The old nursemaid wasn't kidding, you do look just like the old man." They almost at once open up the gate, pushing it inward toward the garden. "This way effendi." One of the guards leads the trio into the garden, they assume Rambad and Ahmed are Kasib's friends or bodyguards so say nothing about them or their weapons. One guard remains at the gate. As the Mamluk leads through the garden covered with irises and orchids he turns and speaks, "Master Bassam is not at home right now. He is returning from retreat in his country villa, but the Mistress of the house is home and she can explain..." The Mamluk leads you up a set of marble stairs to the main house, a house that is clearly a very rich and expensive abode.

"Explain! Indeed!" Kasib seems happy with this. Even if Bassam is not home, any explanation from someone who knows what is going on will do. He bows his head slightly at the Mamluk and follows him into the estate. He waves Rambad and Ahmed forward, pointing a finger in Ahmed's direction and whispering, "No stealing."

Ahmed's eyes sparkly as he looks about the richness of the house. "I wouldn't dream of it Kasib." Is all he says to the man who could so easily claim the identity to the heir of all this. But then, luck like that is something Ahmed has always found, but never for himself. Glancing about he tries to pick out the best place in the room to sit, where there might be small valuable things nearby. A place chosen he moves to a piece of art near it, and begins studying, waiting for their host to arrive.

The Mamluk escorts the trio inside the house, and the front room strikes the group as a rich man's play ground. The floor is marble tile from the nearby isle, the walls are richly painted and hung with artwork in rich wooden frames. Indigo carpets all the way from the Free Cities roll out on the floor, while delicate porcelin urns from the Pearl Cities are potted with rare flowers against the wall. The chamber sparkles in the morning sun as light filders down from second story widows. The chamber is two stories tall, with high vaulted ceiling covered in rich local tiles hand painted to appear like dancing marids in the middle of a water balet.

The Mamluk motions forward through a door into another chamber, several others branch off from this one into other rooms. The barking of dogs can be heard, guard guards, not pets. "This way", he leads into another chamber that is smaller than the entry chamber, but as richly decorated. All along the floor and walls are lush deep pillows of red, yellow and blues. The room is absolutely filled with them, and he offers you a seat among them. Small wooden end tables hold various gold and silver trinkets, oil lamps, crystal hookas, game boards for entertainment, and even a few musical instruments, a zither, a harp, and a flute rest together. On the ceiling large palm branches are hung, attached to ropes and pullies. The guard reaches over and pulls down on a rope that dangles from the ceiling and the noise of gears is heard and the palms begin to fan the chamber, the clockwork machine in the walls and ceiling will keep the room fanned off for thirty mintues before having to be reset.

"Noora will be with you shortly, with refreshment. The mistress of the house will be along promptly as well" He bows and turns and heads out of the lush lounge.
