Ka'im nods once Bashir relates the details of all the trumpeting elephant speak that he doesn't understand. "Ah! That is great news!"
He pauses a moment, considering the other words. "The others... with their own burden. The elephants are implying that we have a burden too. I think you are right, Bashir. The more quickly we move, the better... especially now that we've got what was once so well guarded."

Re: The Last of Al-Assir
Jabiir sighs and heaves himself back onto his feet. "Well then, I guess we carry Rambad." He looks to see who will help him carry Rambad, a light sheen of sweat breaks out across his head as the fever rages on in him.

Sayyid shakes his head, confused that now he is the only one who cannot understand the Elephants, when before, he was the only one who could. The Fever is in him as well, and he's slower than usual in packing up the camp, but he does his part, as if he were still the guide instead of some fated reincarnation of a dead hero.

Re: The Last of Al-Assir
Kasib actually helps pack up the camp and carry Rambad if necessary. His typical laziness seems gone for the moment at least. He keeps to himself for the journey, another oddity, not speaking much at all. Perhaps Rambad's death has affected him, at least for the moment, drawing him into a silence as they move onward.

Ahmed helps pack and is careful in getting Rambad up on top of the elephants. He lets the dead man ride with Kasib, while the Haman sits on his head pecking at it during the journey back to old gods shrine.

The End
The Lions of Tomorrow return to camp, this time a single elephant follows them up the hill to the ruins. The camp is slowly packed up, some of the group still sick from Ghul Fevor, others simply tired or wounded from combat. The day has been long, but there is hope for Rambad's Hama and his soul, and that keep you moving forward.
Eventually the camp is packed, all the magical items taken from Al-Assir are stored and the corpse of Rambad is loaded on that single elephant that made the climb. Kasib climbs the same elephant and sits with his dead friend, silent and somber, helpful and uncharacteristic of him.
Asyia the Vulture swoops down at the last moment and lands with Sayyid, keeping clear of Rambad's owl shaped Hama. The Imam returns to his guide mode and leads the others down the hill, vulture at his side, and into the jungle once more...
