Lazar steps through the doorway, and brushes the rain out of his short spiked hair. Slowly he makes his way to aisle 11, intent on liberating some doughnuts, checking the email he recieved as he was walking in. Taking a little extra time to take a longer glimpse at the elf behind the counter as he walks by.

After learning of the gang members outside, Lazar looks over at the scrawny elf in area D, to check if he notices anything suspicious about the man.
Lazar is carrying his two Aries Preditors w/ concealable holsters

Yeah, sorry about that Brennor. The name is going to be Slam Witch. Really, I just typed down the first street name sounding thing that entered by brain >_>
The Slam Witch walks into the stuffer shack, shakes off the rain, and takes down her hood. She's got long, shoulder-length hair, done up in extremely thin braids and colored nearly every single frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum (including infrared - thermo-spoof hairdye has been the In-Thing in street fashion for this past year - especially among Trolls and Dwarves). Ignoring the twenty-some annoying pop-up AROs that advertise various sales on beer, Snackeroos(TM), "magical" amulets and prophylactics charms, she heads straight for the Breakfast Foods aisle. She checks to see if they have any of the SuperSoy! Gromega EnergyMash MegaLixir Bars in Diet - gotta watch her girlish figure, after all.
Slam Witch doesn't normally carry any firearms. She's got her survival knife in its holster at the small of her back, under her jacket, that's it.

Tit, the elf, heads immediately to isle #5. The elf has always been one for hygiene. The others can stink if they want, he is going to smell good. The Combat Mage is dangerously close to being devoid of his supply of deodorant and hair gel. His hair, second to his life, is the most important thing after all. Subconsciously he runs his fingers through his long, golden, locks as he heads down the isle.

Spectre walks into the Stuffer Shack and steps immediately to the side to look at the arcade games. He taps his comlink against Street Fighting Magical Ninja 8 to pay the one nuyen to start the game and quickly compiles a sprite to play the game for him.
Compile a Strength 3 Crack Sprite.

Assuming I get at least one success, the first task will be for the sprite to crack the game and keep playing it to make it look like I'm the one doing the playing. That'll give me a perfect cover for sitting there and further investigating the Stuffer Shack's computer system.

As the bonus Ability, I'd like to give it the Gremlins ability. If possible, I'd like it to ultimately put a bug in the program that allows people to play it for a long time on a single nuyen. (Technically, that would be a bug, since it goes against the functioning as intended.)

Let's see how well the Compiling rules work and how badly Fading hurts me. :-)

Wadatits, after hes done shaking, walks along the wall of the Stuffer Shack to the right, he's taking the long way to the Soycaf. (Aisle 8 ) He doesnt walk up the isle, which would be quicker, but follows the wall untill he is forced to move away from the wall for the soycaf. "caffy caffy caffy caffy" he mutters to himself as he enters isle.
He has his 2 Cold Manhunters (smarlinked w/quickdraw holsters) on his sides (where they always are) under his lined coat. +1 extra clip each on his belt. Edited due to smiles geting in the way : D

Hawk walks in out of the rain. He reaches up with one leather gloved hand and rubs the water off his bald black head. He then unbuttons his leather coat and shakes some water off of it before heads toward the display of cheap electronics. He begins pursuing them with some interest, though what he really does is watch the doors from behind his dark sunglasses.

As the various runners make their way to their favorite places within the Stuffer Shack, several of them pass other people. Most of them pass the vacant-eyed Elf angel. Almost immediately thereafter, a scream rings through the store, on the heels of a smacking sound.

A few moments afterwards, it is followed by a sobbing sound, and the sounds of the obese woman reprimanding her son for grabbing a few too many items off the shelves, "Put that back now! I told you that you could only have 6 of those gutbusters!" The sobbing continues, but apparently the young boy finally gives in, since the shouting drops several decibels. The woman continues to berate the boy, however, it just doesn't reverberate through the store quite as much.

Spectre/Technomancer/Trogdor authorizes the transfer of 1Â¥ from his commlink to the Street Fighting Magical Ninja 8 game to start it up. He then sets about pulling the material of the Matrix together to play the Matrix-based game for him.
Sprites are called into being out of the Matrix by Technomancers.
Technomancers choose the type of sprite they wish to compile, from the following list:
  • Courier Sprite - messengers and trackers
  • Crack Sprite - find flaws and exploits
  • Data Sprite - find and manipulate information
  • Fault Sprite - cause errors and failures
  • Machine Sprite - manipulate devices
Once the type is chosen, it takes a Complex Action, during which the Technomancer's Resonance + Compiling is opposed against the Sprites Rating. The sprites rating is chosen by the Technomancer at the time of compilation. If the Technomancer has more hits than the Sprite, the compilation is successful.

A freshly compiled sprite is unregistered. A Technomancer may only have 1 unregistered sprite at a time.

Compiling a sprite causes fading.
Fading is the stress imposed upon a Technomancer by using some of his abilities with the Matrix, specifically threading of Complex Forms and Compiling of Sprites.

To resist the Fading, the Technomancer rolls Willpower + Resonance. Each hit reduces the fading damage by one box.

The Fading DV is twice the hits the Sprite gets on the the Compiling Opposed Test and is suffered whether the compilation is successful or not. If the Sprite's Rating is greater than the Technomancer's Resonance, the damage is Physical instead of Stun.
A Compiled Sprite owes the Technomancer a number of tasks equal to the net hits the Technomancer gets on the Compiling Test. Sprites will perform these tasks for up to 8 hours or until all tasks are used. A Technomancer may make a Spriter perform tasks for a longer time by Registering it. Unless another Technomancer spoofs orders, sprites will only accept commands from the Technomancer that compiled them.

Sprites may continually use a single power on a single target or a group of targets while only using one task. Changing the parameters of a task counts as a new task.

Sprites must remain with the Technomancer that summoned them unless they are given a Remote Task. A Remote Task uses the remaining tasks owed to the Technomancer, but enables the Sprite to be sent to another node to perform its task. Otherwise, when a Technomancer leaves the sprite behind in a node, the sprite will fade away until called back.

Sprites may be dismissed at any time and called back at any time (within the 8 hours a Sprite is compiled for) with the use of a Simple Action.
For compiling a Rating 3 Sprite, the Technomancer rolls Resonance + Compiling test and the Sprite rolls its Rating.
Spectre/Technomancer/Trogdor: Resonance 5 + Compiling 4 (has Tasking skill group): 6 6 5 5 5 4 3 2 1 -> 5 hits
Sprite: Rating 3: 4 4 2 -> 0 hits

5 net hits = 5 tasks owed by the Sprite.
Spectre/Technomancer/Trogdor calls forth the essence of the Matrix, creating a form before him. Forcing his mental impression upon the creation, he bends it to his will.
Fading is Willpower + Resonance, to reduce the DV of twice the hits the Sprite made in the Compiling Test.
Spectre/Technomancer/Trogdor: 9 5 5 3 3 1 1 -> 3 hits
The Sprite had 0 hits in the compiling test, so no damage.
Spectre/Technomancer/Trogdor forces his resonance upon the Matrix materials as the Sprite rezes. He feels the drain start to take hold, but then it suddenly lets go as the Sprite is fully formed and turns to view its new master with it's very slim head.

Electrical sparks crack off of it as it looks for some instructions.
Next post I'll do the crack attempt.
These are skill checks triggered by the information given by Mako. For Rick Smash/Enforcer/JohnnyWeird, this is an Intuition + Gang Turf (3) Test. For Slam Witch/Street Shaman/DoomulusPrime, this is an Intuition + Local Area Knowledge (3) Test.
Rick Smash/Enforcer/JohnnyWeird: Intuition 3 + Gang Turf 4: 5 5 5 3 3 1 1 -> 3 hits
Slam Witch/Street Shaman/DoomulusPrime: Intuition 4 + Local Area Knowledge 4: 6 5 5 4 3 3 2 1 -> 3 hits
As the information that these are the Chiller Thriller scrolls across his Image Linked Glasses, Rick Smash/Enforcer/JohnnyWeird thinks about where the gang is located. Their normal territory is at least a mile from this place.

The information that passes Slam Witches/Street Shaman/DoomulusPrime Image Linked Goggles also triggers her own memory, though she can come up with nothing else than what Mako came up with.

Both runners recall the gang's symbol: a bloody icicle pierced through an empty eye socket of a skull.

For those that walk towards the back of the store where the Cook-It-Yourself microwave is, the woman lounging on the counter smiles. She is dressed to be noticed by most men and some women wearing a long coat over a skimpy pair of cut-offs and a halter top.
All tests are Perception + Intuition (2). Everyone suffers a -2 dice pool modifier because they are distracted (perception isn't the only thing everyone is doing). Everyone can get around the distraction modifier in the future by taking an "Observe in Detail" Simple Action.

Mako/Occult Investigator/boggensagg: (4 Intuition + 4 Perception + 2 (Visual Perception specialization) - 2 (distraction)): 6 6 5 5 3 3 3 1 -> 4 hits
Rick Smash/Enforcer/JohnnyWeird: (3 Intuition - 1 (defaulting) - 2 (distraction)): No dice rolled
Rick Smash/Enforcer/JohnnyWeird is intent on the synthmeat hot dog dispenser and doesn't note anything other than the smile coming from the woman.

Mako/Occult Investigator/boggensagg, however, is looking at her from a slightly different angle and sees the bloody icicle piercing a skull's empty eye socket. He also notes that there is some form of weapon larger than a handgun under her coat.

Wadatits makes his way along the front of the store, heading towards the far aisle, he gets a look at the Japanese warrior wannabe.

Wadatits/Gunslinger Adept/Shinling: (3 Intuition + 3 Perception + 2 (Visual Perception specialization) - 2 (distraction)): 6 5 4 4 1 1 -> 2 hits
Wadatits/Gunslinger Adept/Shinling notices a katana sheathed along the back of the odd looking samurai-wannabe. He also has the skull with the eye socket piercing bloody icicle, but this time on the shoulder of his jacket.

The samurai-wannabe struts past Wadatits/Gunslinger Adept/Shinling, showing a toothy grin as the runner continues on, passing the corner. He turns down the aisle containing the appliances to witness the man in baggy fatigues with half a dozen datajacks in his temple carrying on a rather animated one-sided discussion with a toaster oven.

The samurai-wannabe continues onwards to the counter. He leans on it, and asks the Elven woman behind the counter, "What up, doll?" A few seconds later, it seems to hit her that he asked a question and shrugs, "Workin'. Ya want anything?" He asks a few more questions, each followed by the few second pause before she answers.

As the Japanese warrior wanabe approaches the counter, Hawk/Covert Ops Specialist/Raphun watches the scrawny elf.

Hawk/Covert Ops Specialist/Raphun: (4 Intuition + 2 Perception - 2 (distraction)): 6 5 4 1 -> 2 hits
Hawk/Covert Ops Specialist/Raphun happens to be watching the scrawny elf in area D and notices that he looks a bit dejected as the woman begins talking (if you could call it that) to the samurai-wannabe.

Lazar Novikov/Street Samurai/Nate and Slam Witch/Street Shaman/DoomulusPrime pass the aisle containing the rocker wannabes before turning down the aisle just before where the short, stocky Dwarf is building a display. It turns out that both are headed to nearly the same place, just about a meter away from each other.

Titalicious/Combat Mage/TetNak turns down the aisle where the obese woman is scolding the kid. There is a welt rising on the side of the kid's face as he is putting back a box of gutbusters. The kid's face lights up as he looks over the approaching Elf's clothing. He blurts out before he is able to stop it. "Hey, mister... are you a Shadowrunner?"

The Aisles are a meter wide and 4 meters long. Shelves stand 2 meters tall.

The elf nods to the kid, "Something like that." The Combat Mage does not feel the need to elaborate too much, plus he does not want the kid to start crying, or the fat lady to start screaming. He looks over the snacks, but shakes his head, "This stuff ain't too good for you," he says offhandedly, "But damn they taste good."

Spectre looks intently at the video game as if he's interested in playing it. But with his perceptions altered to interface with the Net, he sees something entirely different. Have some fun and play a game, he 'says' mentally to his creation. If you can't beat some meat bag's high score, then I'll be very surprised. His icon winks at the sprite.

Now, he thinks to himself, about that firewall...
Get the sprite to play the game for me. I'll start working on cracking the Stuffer Shack's firewall.
