Nixula answered the call, 30 men of fighting age left the fields and their fishing nets, those young men who dreamed of answering the call of their knight and entering service were the first to round up others.
The stranger, Tiamac, who had entered the village a few days ago from the jungle was ready first. He saw his chance to make an impression on the Jaguar Knight and perhaps gain Zaltec's favor to regain his memories.
The stranger was followed by Ix-Tub-Tun, a hishnashaper and the closest thing this small backwater village has to a priest of Zaltec literally followed the stranger to the small well in the center of the huts that make up the Village.
Late to answer the call cause he was far away at the time was Huit, though thought by many to be a shaman or witch doctor, he has always helped the farmers of the town grow from the infertile soil enough Myaz and other plants to sustain them and enrich what the sea does not provide. He also is often off and warns people of raiding parties.
The thirty men leave and head to Uxal, form there led by Tizimin you head to Kultaka, and fight a furious battle with the Nextala army. In the end you take many prisoners and Nextala retreats with a few prisoners, but certainly Zaltec will be more pleased with Kultaka then Nextal when the sacrifices are offered. Your hundredmen was hard hit, only 20 of the 30 men from Nixula will return. The story of the battle is yours to tell, your exploits and terrors to be told later.
You return several days later to Nixula, or what is left of the once pristine village. Most of the hut's are nothing but ashes, the smoke form the fires that destroyed them are long gone, leaving only pale streamers in the sky, the communal well is destroyed, not a piece of pottery remains sun-broken. Most strangely of all there are no bodies around, no bloodstains, no signs of life. Quickly the other men of the village run to where their homes were, and begin calling for their family members, you are left to ponder the happenings.
