The Eastlands: The Year of the Serpent

The strange and deadly Eastlands are where wild elves rule. The fey have gone into hiding, or so it is said, and now only the mortal roam the Eastlands. Good and evil are of no concern. Only survival is important where death can come at any time and from any place.

Round #7, Post #1

Post by TetNak » Thu Aug 18, 2005 4:32 pm

Initiative: Xisskar 18, Elven Scouts 10, Ssari'th 4, Fa'eren 3
Xisskar does retreat deeper into the forest after collecting his curved short-blades. The Pureblood finds no elf to follow him, as now the archer that was assailing him is warding off 'attacks' from the slave-elf.
Enters greater concealment.
"You want my blade?" ask the Wood Elf, "Very well, Wild, I shall give it to you!"

With that the elf drops his bow and draws his sword, waving it before the Wild Elf Fa'eren. "I shall put you out of your misery!" The elf then steps forward and stabs his sword into the unarmed elf's stomach. For Fa'eren his mind spins with the lack of control of his body as he almost falls to his knees from the dizzyness that visits him.
Att 15, Success. Dmg 8. Fa'eren down to 10HP
"Keep firing at the Halfblood!" the other elf says, noting the retreat of the Pureblood. "We will not let you escape!" He quickly loads and fires, but each arrow falls victim to overhanging branches in front of Ssari'th.
Both Arrows Averted, 27% and 35%
"Yes ... of course," the other elf says, though shaken by the Halfblood's words he carries on. His arrows seem to make it through the concealment of the tree, but neither hit their mark.
Neither Averted, 58% and 42%. Att 13 - 2 = 11, Failure. 15 - 2 = 13, Failure

Cursing with a hiss Ssari'th slithers back down from the high braches of the tree, the Halfblood is also in no possition to take many more arrows. As he hits the ground he hisses at the shaken elf, "You would do well to forget about me. The traitorous wild elf is more of a concern, turn your attention to him." The suggestion from the Halflblood seems like a good idea, its from a friendly voice, and makes tactical sense, at least it might if the spell takes hold.

Agonizing pain rips through the elf's body as his own kinsman stabs him. Blood seeps into his slave clothes, the unarmored and unarmed elf is deeply toubled at the attack, He ould like to crawl on the ground and wimper but a pulse form his un-natural collar propells him suicially forward. He grabs for the elf's sword arm knowing his one chance before death is to disarm the elf. Even as he hears the Halfblood attempt to turn another elf against him and make good his own retreat, he knows he has been sacraficed.

Round #7, Post #2

Post by TetNak » Tue Aug 23, 2005 3:28 pm

Initiative: Xisskar 18, Elven Scouts 10, Ssari'th 4, Fa'eren 3
Ssari'th words seem true to the Elf, who turns and looks over at the Wild Elf stalking his commander. He does nothing as of yet, but it is obvious his attention is no longer upon the yuan-ti.
Suggestion: Will Check 11 '€" 2 '€" 1 = 8, Failure. DC 14
Fa'eren jumps forward toward the Wood Elf, but his strategy is flawed, unless that strategy is to be carved up like a piece of meat. The Wood Elf shows no pity, stabbing the Wild Elf in the side, which slices through a couple ribs and likewise punctures a lung. Fa'eren feels himself slipping from this world '¦
AoO: 21, Success. Dmg 10. Fa'eren down to 2 HP
The injured Wild Elf does not give up, taking advantage of the extended arm and grabbing it with both hands. Pulling his enemy closer, he quickly lassos his arms around the Wood Elf's trunk, holding him fast and perhaps buying himself some time in the process.

Xisskar

Post by sidewinder102 » Wed Aug 24, 2005 12:07 am

As soon as possible, Xisskar readies an arrow and moves as quickly and silently as he can with as much cover as possible to try and flank the elf slaves. He then stops behind cover and fires at the first elf to come in range.
As soon as a flanked elf comes in range and I am behind good cover, move silent, hide, and bow attack.

Round #8, Post #1

Post by TetNak » Wed Aug 24, 2005 6:20 pm

Initiative: Xisskar 18, Elven Scouts 10, Ssari'th 4, Fa'eren 3
Xisskar moves back and to the right. His actions could almost be considered one of retreat, at least by the elves, but it is only a ploy. The Pureblood comes around the side, moving quickly to gain the ground and get into a flanking position.
Spot 17 vs. Hide 20, Failure
Moving into flanking position was a full round action.
The lead elf tries to push the slave off of him. He twists and turns violently but cannot throw Fa'eren off his body as the Wild Elf keeps hold of the scout; indeed, Fa'eren is holding on for his life.
Grapple 8 vs. 13, Failure!
The only remaining threat to the yuan-ti, either by magic influence or the Wild Elf's intervention, still tries to bare down upon the Haflblood. Quickly he lets two arrows fly, and although each look like they might score, neither does as one deflects off a branch and the second simply flies over Ssari'th's head.
Concealment: 29, Averted. Concealment: 49, Not Averted. Att 11, Failure.
The suggested Wood Elf moves to aid the grappling elf. Dropping his bow he rushes across the clearing, pulling free his longsword as he does so. Then, just as he reaches Fa'eren, he stabs his blade into the Wild Elf's back.

Fa'eren convulses in pain, reaching for the wound in his lower back, but all he can do is fall to his knees. Utterly defeated, the slave elf feels the world slip from him and darkness the only response.
Att 24, Success. Dmg 6. Fa'eren at '€"2!

The Halflbood continues to use the tree for cover, there is little change in his tactics. Another arrow loaded in his bow, he draws it back and fires once more at the elf that is still shooting at him, "Foolssss, you ssshould run while I'm feeling generous!"

Round #9, Post #1

Post by TetNak » Fri Aug 26, 2005 10:00 pm

Initiative: Xisskar 18, Elven Scouts 10, Ssari'th 4, Fa'eren 3
The Wild Elf hits the ground, presumably dead, but the danger is not over for these elvish scouts. Xisskar has circled around, hiding in the brush, and with stealth and guile he has put himself into excellent position to attack again. The arrow flies and sticks into the back of the lead elf, causing the creature to cry out in pain.
Att 17, Success. Dmg 7
Dropping his sword, the elf reaches around to his back, attempting to grab hold of the arrow lodged there instinctively. After a moment he simply bends and recovers his bow, placing an arrow into it and firing immediately at his attacker. Unfortunately the yuan-ti has excellent cover and the arrow never comes close to reaching its destination.
ES1: Concealment: 29%, Averted.
The previously suggested elf runs back to his bow, jumping over Fa'eren, and scoops it up with his left hand. Almost immediately he sheaths his sword, then draws an arrow, and then fires back toward Xisskar that is hiding. Once again the cover proves to potent and the elf's arrow is deflected.
ES3: Concealment: 21%, Averted.
The last elf continues to focus on the Halfblood, Ssari'th. He only nocks one arrow and shoots, unlike previous motions that would quickly fire off two shots. Perhaps the elves' depleted arrow supply has something to do with that. The one arrow the elf does shoot finds a similar fate to the others shot recently, hitting a tree and snapping in half.
ES4: Concealment: 1%, Averted
The Halfblood retaliates, sending an arrow through the air of his own. This arrow hits no tree, and within a moment plummets into the brain of the elf that hunts him. As the creature falls backward, arrow protruding from his eyesocket, the table turns as the ambushers are now the ones in the open.
Att 22, Success. Dmg 11, Dead!
The Wild Elf, who appears dead, is not, but Fa'eren is nearing that final point with each passing moment.
Stabalize: 23%, Failure. Fa'eren down to '€" 3 HP

Round #10, Post #1

Post by TetNak » Wed Aug 31, 2005 3:23 pm

Initiative: Xisskar 18, Elven Scouts 10, Ssari'th 4, Fa'eren 3
The Pureblood once again takes aim at the elvish scout, and indeed another arrow finds its target. The arrow sticks into the elf's upper chest, causing the scout to takes a step backward and grimace in pain. "We cannot fail ..." he groans.
Att 26, Success. Dmg 6
The same elf is not going to fall easily. The injured elf, with several arrows lodged in his body, kneels and quickly draws two arrows and fires them both. The arrows fly into the woods, and one of them actually hit their target. Xisskar feels the sting of pain as an arrow grazes his neck, and it seems only luck provented a more serious injury that could have ended the yuan-ti's life forever.
Concealment: 52%, Not Averted. Att 27, Success. Dmg 3. Xisskar to 14 HP. Concealment: 42%, Not Averted. Att 15, Failure
The last of the elves stands with the main scout, both now drawing a bead upon the Pureblood, Xisskar. The elf draws back the longbow and releases the string upon the first arrow. The arrow flies through the woods, narrowly missing several branches, and with a quick 'soop' sound passes through the Pureblood's neck. Xisskar staggers, a strange feeling of weakness overcoming him as he falls to the ground, dying.
Concealment: 42%, Not Averted. Att "20", Crit Threat. Att 23, Crit. Dmg 17! Xisskar at -3

Hissing a curse to himself silently as he feels his Pureblood companion fall to hte arrows he reaches into a beltpouch and draws out a small bundle of scales. The scales like and oilskin are wrapped around a small ball of paste. Licking the paste with a quick flick of his tongue the Halfblood Sarri'th shoves the doughy ball into his mouth and swallows quickly, the healing properties of its contents racing through his cold viens. He takes cover behind a tree, hoping to keep himself completely out of view.
