Prelude: Untergard

The Old World. A dark and grim place filled with peril and driven by war. From the teeming cities of the Empire to the Elf haunted forests to the lofty crags of the Worlds' Edge mountains where Dwarfs battle with Goblins and their vile kin, a shadow hangs over the world, cast by the dark corrupting hand of Chaos. The Old World's greatest nation, the Empire, seeks to hold back this dark tide.

While the dwarves haul away debris and begin to stack bodies, after the priest blesses them, they suddenly hear a blood hurdling scream of pain from just over their shoulder. When they turn around they spot something has fallen away from the ground, and Father Dietrich has disappeared into what can only be described as a hole.

Kithron has the feeling that Granny is too distraught to give an answer. Just then, Father Dietrich disappears.

Kithron runs to the hole and looks into it. If he can, he tries to pull Father Dietrich out using a rope or something.

Urgrim is currently hauling a body to a stack when the blood curdling scream echoes out.

He glances around, trying to make out the source was, then drags the body over to the stack he was headed towards, finishing his current task. It helps that his halberd is planted not far from that stack.

He obtains the Halberd and then turns, following after Grimbold to see what is up.

Dvar curses, "Troll's boots! What is it naw?" He darts across the crossroads as fast as his little dwarf legs will take him. He pulls up short at the hole, carefuly not to charge into it, or to close to the lip incase the sides aren't shored up and stable. "Ever'one on theie toes, coulda be trap!" He watches inspect the pit and the situation before doing anything else.

"Damin' its, noow wut!!", Voldo bellows. Seeing the others running to the spot where the father disappeared. He drops the full armload of fetid limbs as so much kindling and grabs up his hammer from the nearby tree and runs to join them...

The elf is the first one over to the scene. Looking down into the hole, a terrible sight is seen by all. The priest looks in shock as several large and sharpened poles piece his body. Blood runs down them, and there does not seem to be anyway the man can survive. He looks up, grimacing, his eyes speaking of fear of his death and the pain that races across his body.

Dvar turns around and shouts, "EVERYBODY STOP WHERE YEA ARE!" He waves his arms for the others helping to stop moving. "Thar be pits everyplace! No one move, lest yea fall in one yerself!" He is no healer, and is bit upset he didn't notice the pits, cleaver hunting trip that they are. So he focuses on helping anyone still moving around the area. "Just everyone hold still a minute, till we figure this out!" He looks back down in the pit at the man, glups once, and looks away not wishing to watch the man's last breaths.

Urgrim is surprised at the pit trap with the sharpened stakes. He takes a look at the man's eyes and knows that he is dying. He looks around the end of the pit to see if it might support his weight. He also looks at the ground at the edge to see if there are any peculiar disturbances and then looks around the area for similar disturbances that might be additional pits.

Kithron sees that the man is beyond help and offers a silent prayer to the strange elf gods. He looks around if he can see any other traps in the ground.

MV & EK, are you still playing?
The dwarves and elf end up over by the hole. The priest is lanced by several spikes. He looks up, pain in his eyes. "You," he says, his voice gasping, "I have something, important, deliver it to the Church of Sigmar in Middleheim, won't you?" He pulls a 'locket' of some type of his neck, preparing to give it to someone.
