Epiloge: How it went

Post by Bitom » Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:14 pm

The party convinces Tib to wait one more day, which he spends in obnoxiously loud prayer. On the following day, the group travels to the location that the star fell. As before, they travel at night and sleep in the day, and they are able to avoid trouble until their arrival.

There, they do indeed find a temple of the trickster, but this one is differant from any they have seen or heard of before. This one obviously grew by itself, and was helped along by no human hand. It also is surrounded by a near army of undead.

Taking all of the party's fire crystals, oil and other flammables, matthew volunteers and is sent sneaking into the heart of the temple to light it aflame. None believe that he can pulexposed that l this feat off, but somehow he manages to get past undetected.

The Temple burns, and Matthew is badly injured on the way out, but the party is able to rescue him, but only at the cost of one of their own. Baron Henrik joins the ranks of the undead that he has studied for decades that day, and the group makes haste back to Espara city.

Once there, a mysterious stranger approaches Matthew and tells him to be in a certain place at a certain time. There, he discovers that the priest he has been working for is actually an agent of the trickster. Matthew kills him and the man he was meeting. He retakes the trickster's eye, an object he stole from the temple and presents it to the Cardinal, along with the head of the traitor priest, none other than Brother Clarance, his Emanence's steward.

That night, a contingent of men, calling themselves 'keepers' appear at the cathedral to council the cardinal. Also that night, all hell breaks loose. The dead begin rising from their graves and assaulting the cathedral. The eye floats over the altar of the builder, and appears there no matter where it is stored or how securely. For some reason, the Cardinal will not allow it to be destroyed.

What remains of the party are sent to the four corners of the world to retrieve the elemental talismans, which will allow the elemental locks to be removed from the tomb of a powerful druid known as the tricksters wife. They succeed in this and remove the locks, installing them on the cathedral. A quarter of the city is walled off and abandoned. The Hammerites build a new cathedral, in which they house two of the elemental talismans. The other two are given to the Keepers, to hide beyond the reach of man.

In time, an ex-keeper named Garrett will collect the talismans, steal the eye, and bring about the death of the trickster. But that is another tale.

Where are they now:

Hanz leaves the order of the Hammer and moves to the kingdom of Spioria to join the order of the smithy.

Jamal assists the group througout their travels. Just after collecting the Elemental locks, he slips away and is never heard from again, neither does anyone pursue him.

Korban does not travel with the party on their adventures. He spends the rest of his career trying to clear the undead from the old quarter, but there always seem to be more.

Matthew joins the keepers at some point during the groups adventures. After the mission finally ends, he vanishes and is never heard from again.

Tibernious is informed of his sins against the builder and uses the quest for the Elemental talismans to seek his salvation. He is eventually returned to the priesthood a wiser, and more level-headed man. He is eventually given control over crookshole's replacement: Cragscleft prison.

Zanick remains in the service of the church and becomes one of the principle architects of the new cathedral.

Henrik presumably still stalks the haunted forest.
