Chapter 1.22: An Unlikely Duo

The elders can't be stopped, but their inhumanity can't be accepted either. Moving to another city accopmplishes nothing, the situation is the same everywhere. Now the only hpe is to band together. As a group, maybe you and the other young ones can resist the political tides that threaten to erode that which makes you human.

Chapter 1.22: An Unlikely Duo

Post by Bitom » Tue Aug 01, 2006 5:55 pm

The Toreador Maria gets onto her bike and allows the snakelike Nosferatu Mike to board behind her. Before long, the wind is blowing his stench away from her nostrals, but at each stoplight, she is reminded of who and what is behind her. Still, the two make their way to a gated community of rich homes some north of the city proper. One of these is where Vanessa lives with her parents. The Duo are faced with a number of problems:
  • They are both too poor (And Mike is too Nosferatu) to fit in with this neighborhood.
  • This gated community, unlike most others, actually has security who seem to care about their jobs, and there are cameras.

Mike with his hood drawn up tight enjoys the ride to the victims home, as they near he leans into Maria and with his mouth as close to her ear as possible say's, "Do not pull up directly in front let's-sss s-sssee if we can find a less-sss obvious-sss route near the grounds-sss, pull around the corner a little ways-sss".
Mike is using his obfuscate level 1, on the ride over so no one will notice him as much. relying on the shadow of night, fast movement of the bike, and intermittent street lights sporatic, dull glow.
As they begin to circle for an observation spot, Mike searches for camera's about the perimeter, while thinking to himself "Perhaps not all Toreador are ass's" like his sire had told him all those many years ago.
Making a memory check Mike tries to remember if the victim had a pet, when the odd couple finally stops he will check the notes he took at Elysium,if unable to remember.

Maria is going faster then she normally would be going on a quite night like tonight.. she's trying to keep the smell from her nostrils as much as possible. she notes to her self about the security just as Mike's voice hits her ear, it sends a shiver though her spine and the bike. Maria does not slow down as she passes the compound and tries to find a darker area not in sight of the cameras to stop.

"Perhaps-sss you s-ssshould cons-sssder s-ssslowing down Maria we do not wish to draw any undue attention to ours-ssselves-sss". With that said Mike scans for possible police in the area.
Mike is thinking to himself "young and reckless".

Maira hates to admit it, but the lizard is right. She down shifts and slows her bike, tring to bear the body oder as long as possible.

Maria finds a dark place near a large wall and stops the bike. A quick pass around the complex is not encouraging. It is walled, which is not a big deal. Anyone determined enough can get over a wall. But there are quite a lot of cameras. Maria has only the vaguest idea of where Vanessa's house is from here, but Mike has a pretty good one, and could PROBABLY get to it without passing any cameras that he sees. But what then?

Maria sighs at the complex. Hes skills are best used to bend peoples minds, not hop walls and avoid cameras. Though a vampire, she knows that if she tries to get in, she would lower there chances massivly. "ok Mike, looks like its your turn. I seem to be the driver this night." Maria dismounts her bike and stands, away from the lizard. "what are you hoping to find?"

As Mike dismounts he withdraws the small notebook from his jacket pocket and searches it for a moment.
Looking for the information from my prior post request?.
Mike then replaces the notebook into his pocket having retrieved what he needed to know. He then turns to the Toreador Princess and say's, "Keep a good eye out for polic-ssse and walkers-sss", then moves slowly to the wall. Once there avoiding as much light and underbrush as possible Mike reaches up, and pulls himself up the wall until he can just barely see over the top edge. Then keeping as low as possible he scans the area beyond.
Mike is looking for camera implacements, patrols, and animal life inside the wall. But most importantly he's trying to get his bearings. Using stealth to approach and climb and perception/alertness to scan the area.

Maria quietly nods to the sneaky lizard vampire and then positions her bike to make a quick get away if needed as close to the wall as possible for some cover. Once the bike is set, Maira leans against the wall in the shadows and watches what she can from where she is.
using Stealth and Streetwise to keep her self and the bike hiden.
also, using Alertness to watch the area for truble

Mike pulls out his notebook and checks, discovering that Vanessa and her family have no animals. A great benefit to him, since they tend to see through even the best Obfuscate. The dark spot that Maria finds is adequate, although it will require some effort to climb the wall from here.

Mike's quick look around lets him know where he is, and allows him to plan a route to the house, although it'll involve about ten minutes of walking... more if he has to dodge patrols.
