Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
"Soldat to base. We found the probe droid, and got it before it self-destructed. Do you want us to bring the memory module or the droid brain back, or will you be sending out a recovery vehicle?"

Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
The base responds, "Take up defensive positions until a recovery vehicle is dispatched and arrives." There is a pause over the communications link, "Our engineers will take care of the recovery process. Base out."

Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
The scout pauses, his hands on the droid, "I think it should be here...not sure, but I'm sure your tech specialists will know." He moves into the brush, "I'll cover west and north, you take south and east." He digs himself into the brush, behind as much cover and concealment as he can find. Crouched low he scans the trees for sighs of movement, listening to the jungle sounds, and waiting for the marines to arrive.

"Sounds good."
Davar reaches up and grabs a tree branch, hoisting himself up and into the foliage. After all, nobody ever looks up, and he'll be able to see incoming threats from further away. He finds a branch that's strong enough to support him, has sufficient leaves to conceal him, and is close enough to the ground that he can jump down without trouble. Then, he gets his blaster out and covers the southeast.

Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
Nearly an hour passes before both men spot the shadow of a rather large vessel approaching. Then suddenly two speeders fly by, moving through the jungle with exact manuevers only extremely trained individuals could make. Soldat's commlink opens up again, "Base to Soldat, New Republic Marine salvage crew has arrived." A small squad of men begin up the ridgeline, four of which have blaster rifles out and scanning the area. After a few moments a large Hoverlift moves into position above the ridge. Slowly, four magnetic plates are lowered from the Hoverlift, attached to the ship by thick cables, four to a plate. "Extraction in progress," the communications officer announces over the commlink. "After successful extraction, return to base."

"Soldat to base. Orders recieved."
Davar helps out however he can- attatching the magnetic plates to the droid and the like. Once the job is done and the infantry that arrived on the speeder are leaving, he approaches whoever looks like he has the most seniority.
"Can we hitch a ride back to base with you?"

Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
The speeders are no where to be seen, actually, zipping through the jungle around the area making a quick scan for any hostiles. There is another seargant amongst the infantry that arrives, also helping attach the metallic plates. "We were deployed at a clearing about a kilo away. That's our rendevous point." The man slings his rifle and speaks into his commlink, "Hovercraft. The cargo is ready for extraction."
The cables begin pulling the droid into the air until it finally reaches the hover life. When it does a cargo hold opens on its belly, and the cables continue to pull in droid until it has been consumed by the vehicle and the doors close it inside.
The vehicle makes a slow turn, heading back to base. "You can come with us, the transport will pick us up." The man flips on his commlink, "Base, seven to be picked up. Heading to rendevous point now. ETA, twenty minutes."

Davar marches along in silence for a while, before turning to Tal half out of curiosity, half of boredom.
"So, how long have you been working with the Republic?"

Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
Corvan doesn't help load the droid, he's not paid for that kind of heavy lifting. He does keep an eye out for more Imperials as he leans on a nearby tree during the extraction. He then moves with the others to hitch a ride, walking back would be too uncomofortable. On the way back he chats with Davar. "I did a little work for the Rebels during the end of the war, nothing major, or profitable. Took a break for a year, enjoying the peace, but, then the credits ran out so here I am. This is my first new job for the New Republic. You?"

Re: Prelude: Imperial Incursion
"I've been with the Republic since about a year after Yavin. I got into the military from sport martial arts rather than a military background, so I'm mostly a close-combat instructor rather than a field soldier.
Seemed to do all right here, though."
Then there was the special unit, but I can't talk about that.
