Travis considers the events and aims at the incoming ship. Doing all he can to down the the thing he shouts back over the intercom. "Somethings wrong with this...I've got a bad feeling that they messed with our engines when they dropped off that crate. Can some one get down there and take a look."

"I am no gear head, I know not what to look for." Frowning softly as he continues feeding the information to where it needs to go. "I am thinking they have something up thier sleeve...running us into a trap of some sort."
Computer use to run a diagnostic? Or would that fall under repair?

Jahn runs a ship diagnostic on the engine and comes back with a stream of data which makes no sense to him though in the end the computer comes back indicating everything checks out. Marcus continues his course towards the edge of the planets gravity well. The other craft opens up with its blasters for the first time and streaks of burning plasma light up the air around the ship, though none come close to striking its shields. Travis on the other hand takes a moment to relax and squeezes off another controlled blast from the cannon. The single burning beam of energy strikes the small craft whose shields flicker and vanish, the beam continues on and strikes hard against the far back side of the ship causing the fighter to slow to a dead crawl as it vainly tries to keep up with the transport ship. The two missiles remain behind the Questor but show little progress in their attempt to catch the fast moving ship.

"Diagnostics say everything's on the green. If they sabotaged us, it isn't something the computers recognize. Good shot!" he exclaims at seeing the persuing ship slowing down dramatically. Turning to the sensors, he attempts to do a scan around thier area, hoping he might pick something up they are missing.
Computer Use: Doing a general scan. Not going to focus until I see something wrong come up.

Travis is still suspicious that something is wrong, but he has other things on his mind at the moment. With the other ships pursuit slowed to a crawl, he still fires his blaster cannon in its direction. It seems certain the Questor will jump before the torpedoes matter.

Travis continues to fire bolt after bolt at the trailing ship as it falls further behind the Questor. It becomes quickly apparent that the other ship is out of range and the light show is not likely to hit the disapearing dot. The scans of space arround the ship come back clean and it appears the small craft is redy to make a jump into hyperspace without a scratch. "Jump in 3, 2, 1...."

The escape pod comes to a dead stop as the computers finish their last minute calculations for hyperspace and the transfers power from the main drive engins to the hyperspace boosters. With the torpedo's closing in on the pod, and the enclosed tracking device, the crew of the ship realise it was not the Questor which was targeted, "The're going for the pod!"

"Sensors say there's nothing else to try and get us. We should be free and clear for the hyperspace jump." Jahn states as he looks over the screen, shaking his head lightly, sitting back. How many actually go after what thier machines tell them, instead of thier instincts?

Karl, of course, is still asleep, and missed all the action.
Still here, just have no IC role to play

"Hold on, this is going to get rough." comes the call over the intercom as Marcus drops the ship behind the escape pod and insures the doubled deflector shields are facing the oncoming missiles.

Travis opens up with a stream of blaster fire as the missiles close the distance to the ship, their onboard computers compensating and avoiding the barrage until the first missile strikes the Questors shields. The explosion rocks the ship and all but complete disintegrates the shield covering the back half of the ship. With the impact the blaster cannon looses its track and attempts to follow the missile into the hull of the ship. The resulting series of blasts strike into the unprotected section of ship and tear large chunks of metal out with flashes of molten sparks. Attempting to bring the weapon back on target, Travis is not fast enough and the second missile slips through the shield durring a momentary flicker of power and strikes directly down the engine exaust vent of the main engine.

Their is a resounding blast as the engines of the ship are vaporized with the explosion and many sections of power go down on the ship and send the craft sailing of into space. It is only with the slightest margin of satisfaction that the crew can see the escape pod launching itself out into hyperspace as the Questor flips helplessly towards the plant from which it had recently escaped.

That wakes Karl up. He spends some time fighting with the restraints that are keeping him in the bed, all the while screaming things like "What the hell was that?" and the groundbourne's biggest fear. "Do we still have air?"
