Jahn's Prelude

Post by BrokenWire2086 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 5:13 pm

It has been a long several years under the care and tutelage of the Jedi Order. There at the temple on Corosont you were exposed to many new ideas, politics and members of races you had never known existed. Though you had been at the temple training for a long time, the majority of a young Jedi's younger years are spent molding the moral structure which would guide them during the trials of becoming a full fledged Jedi Knight. Now at the end of your youngling training you have come to a new understanding of what the order stands for and why it is so few who were not raised at the temple are able to withstand the trials.

Today is the first day of your padowan training and it is through the next few short years that you will be tested and groomed by the Jedi master to whom you are assigned. Jedi Master Ramsies, the very man who discovered you those long years ago, has once again shown to guide you into the world of the Force. He is of a sect of Jedi whom you have not heard mention in your training and those who know of them avoid discussing it with you. All you do know is that his eccentric ways are accepted among members of the order and he is allowed more freedom of action than you would be expected to follow. It will be a hard listen to learn the ways of a Jedi from a man you are not allowed to emulate.

You have not been told what your mission is to be today; only that yesterday was the last day of your padowan training. Your room has been cleared out except for the saber you were given, your robes and a few scant other belongings the order has decided you should keep, aiding you on your travels. It has been the custom for the order to take everything or nothing from a padowan to remind them that their possessions are meaningless and can as easily be given as taken by the fates. Walking away from your old life, and keeping yourself centered on the road ahead you find your way to one of the landing pads of the order, there an old model ZH-25 light freighter and at the down loading ramp stands Master Ramsies with a series expression on his face and dressed in the customary robes of the order.
Ramsies is a rather unassuming individual of just under six foot in height and a small but powerful build. At the temple he wears the traditional robes of the Jedi order with a thick dark green belt hung from his waste, which holds his saber. On the times you have seen him outside the order he has worn clothing more suitable for a freighter pilot than a Jedi master with duro-mesh black pants a heavy weight shirt and a green all-temperature cloak. He also has a habit of not displaying his lightsaber when not wearing his Jedi robes and instead boasts a blaster of some fashion which seems large enough to tear a hole in a space craft, this he wears strapped to his leg like a common pirate. To complete his look Ramsies maintains a tight military style haircut, but only when at the temple, although when he is traveling he has had a tendency to let his personal appearance degrade to that of a scruffy ruffian.

Jahn moves before his master and his 5' 9" form bows deeply, wearing the traditional light tan outfit and dark brown robes. His lightsaber at his side, and only a normal utility belt to hold it together. His platinum blond hair is cut short, save for the traditional tail of a padawan learner, which moves down over his right shoulder. "Greetings, Master Ramsies. I am here to learn, to serve, and awaiting your instruction." Trying to keep as even of a tone as possible, though at meeting such an enigmatic person, especially one he is to learn from. Quite the puzzle, it seems. "I am ready to follow you." He remains motionless in hos bow, until aknowledged by Master Ramsies with his azure blue eyes closed.

Jahn remains in his bow through a pause as the only sound which can be heard is the hum of the ships power coils. Eventually the master speaks and his tone is even and formal, 'œYour training has ended yesterday when you put aside your youth and innocence. From this first day, until your trials are complete, you will stay close with me and be mindful of all which may come your way.' That said he turns and walks up the ramp into the ship, 'œNow come.'

Entering the ship you find yourself in a small open room which has several doors leading off in every direction. Master Ramsies walks towards one of the doors and it opens for his approach, sliding up with a hiss. Moving down the hall he calls back to you, 'œThe living quarters are this way.'

Nodding softly, Jahn follows his master towards the crew quarters. "Yes master. I wish to thank you for taking me on as a Padawan. I will do my best to make you proud." His teenage voice spoke as calmly as possible in a Tapani accent. He used the mental techniques he learned to calm what emotions he could. Excitement, coupled with a hint of anxiety, about being able to start exploring everything he read and learned about in the Temple.

Ramsies stops in mid stride and turns back to Jahn, his face set and serious. Walking up to the young padawan Ramsies looks the young man in the eyes, his own seeming to stare far past the surface of your face. He holds your eyes for a long moment before speaking and when he speaks, his voice is calm and questioning, though his choice in words could carry their own weight, 'œAdventure? That's all this is to you, a chance to escape the halls of the Jedi temple and explore the galaxy? '¦ Perhaps, now prepare yourself we will leave shortly.' He holds your eyes for a moment longer in silence before turning and opening the door to the sleeping room. The room has three bunk beds in it and nothing else for furniture, the only place to store equipment being two doors under each bunk. Master Ramsies continues to another door at the back of this room and presses a button at the side to open it. Stepping through the door closes behind him and you are left alone.

Jahn merely stands quiet while his master stared him down. Biting his tongue figuratively to avoid saying anything that might cause him undue strife, he watches as his master departs the room, and waits a few moments before moving to sit on the solitary bunk. Taking a deep breath, he slowly exhaling it as he looked around, so far as to open the doors beneath him before hopping down and exploring the rest of the ship. Honestly, he never was told to stay put, so he decided to learn about his new home as much as he could.

The doors under the bunk have a padded flight suit folded neatly in one and nothing else in the other. Leaving things where they are you head out to explore the ship. The first thing you notice is that while this ship was originally built for cargo it seems to have not served that purpose for many years. The ship is an older design and from the wear of the plates and the various bits which have been replaced through the years its clear she has had several generations of owners. The cargo area closest to the living quarters is open and seems to have been designed by and for a Jedi. The floor is swept clean, the walls are lined with various pieces of art and artifacts from worlds across the galaxy. In the center of the room is what appears to you, to be a training circle, with a polished wood floor. Towards the edge of the room are round meditation stools (or platforms) and the enter place seems like it could have been any room from the Jedi temple, picked up and put into space. The other cargo hold is more what you would expect, it has corrugated deck plating and boxes of provisions and supplies are stacked everywhere, tied to the floor with ratcheting straps. The Engineering bay opens with the push of a button and from the large amount of machinery and equipment you decide its best to not touch anything in there. The galley and common room has a pleasant social feel to it and seems to be the most inviting place on the ship. The tech center and bridge are as you would expect on any freighter.

During the conduct of your exploration of the ship, Master Ramsies has returned to the cockpit and started launch operations and has taken the ship up towards space. You arrive to the cockpit in time to see the last haze of blue leave the windows and expose the black emptiness of space.

Jahn takes a seat in a passenger space, never having been in a cock-pit before, he decides it would be best to just stay out of the way for the time being. However, he seemed to watch everything with interest. He did want to take some time to study some of the artifacts and artwork in the training center, but, if Ramsies was out and about, he wanted to be there just in case he gave and order.

The trip into hyperspace is uneventful by the standards of those who are accustom to such things, but for a young man who has only traveled through space once before in his life this is an exciting experience with a marvel of sights to behold. After the jump is completed Master Ramsies eases back away from the pilot controls and simply watches the myriad of blue space spiral past the cockpit window. The time stretches on without him saying anything, perhaps he has become accustom to such long travels without another person to talk to.

Jahn watches as the hues of blues and whites fly into and out of view quickly. He was excited, as anyone would be when seeing the galaxy pass by like this. Though, he kept quiet, just marvelling at everything as he needed to, his hands moving to idly buckle himself in. He's heard of some of the things that can happen to a ship in mid-hyperspace flight. Just need to be safe.
