Rough Landing

Post by BrokenWire2086 » Tue May 01, 2007 9:05 pm

The last remaining escape pod door closes and ejects rapidly into space, the force of the ejection giving way to a lack of gravity against the restraints. Though the reinforced transparent door the passengers can see the extensive damage to the ship, the entire back half is missing and you can all see into what used to be training room of the Questor. Continuing on, the pod travels smoothly through space at a swift clip until the orange glow of atmosphere clouds up the glass and all of you are pressed hard against the tightening restraints.

Karl turns green and yelps slightly as the gravity cuts. To one who has spent his entire life on the ground, zero G is only felt when falling. After a moment, he identifies the sensation, but that doesn't make him look any less ill.

Jahn sits in one of the chairs and straps himself down before being ejected from the ship. Closing his eyes, he uses what he knows of the Force and his own body to fight back the feeling of queasiness, almost entering a state of meditation as well. There was nothing else to do but that, as far as he could tell.

The trip in the pod gets worse before it gets better. With the craft traveling through space things are smooth if devoid of gravity, it is when the pod starts its decent towards the planet that everyone is tossed against their restraints and the rapid decent continues to bring the planet closer and closer with no sign of slowing. It is only a thousand feet above the planet that gravity seems to be restored, though it is in the wrong direction when compared with where the planet is. With everyone's brain telling them they are upside down the craft begins a rapid deceleration that pulls you all back against the straps towards the planet. All in all it is very disorienting, made worse by looking out the window, and when the craft eventually makes a hard landing into the side of a rolling grass hill everyone is left struggling to reorient their minds to match what their eyes are telling them. At the same time, no one was injured during the landing and the craft seems to be intact, if not buried half way into a hill.

After taking some time to reorient himself, Jahn gets up and makes his way from the craft, hopping down onto the surface of Corellia. Looking around, he pulls his robes around him and pulls his hood up. Turning back, he offers to help anyone else down, and does so if they accept.

Karl is up and about with surprising alacrity. "Won't be long before Coresec is here. Global tracking is good, and escape pods ae responded to immediatly in case someone's hurt. We need to get gone if we don't want to be all over the news grids... and we need to take anything that identifies the ship we came from with us."

Travis shakes his head. "There should be enough fuel left to detonate this thing. You two grab what you can and get clear, I'll do what I can here to shake things up. Take that case there with you." He nods to a large sinister looking black case that Karl saw him carry Looking at Karl for a half second he holds out his hand, "I may need that saber, let me borrow it for a bit kid."

Karl frowns for a little bit, then makes a decision. Travis has always played straight with him, and if the guy decides to be a prick, Karl will have his case. He slings the backpack, picks up the case, then tosses a cylander to Travis that Jahn can easily recognizer as a light saber, probably Marcus' light saber.

An examination of the inside of the escape pod will reveal it has very little inside. Designed as a rapid escape from a doomed ship the pod includes a medical kit near the hatch, field kits under each seat and a blaster rifle secured suspiciously near the medical kit. The single computer screen displays a message requesting status of crew and other information to transmit over the cycling emergency broadcast system.

A look over the surrounding country reveals the pod to have crashed into a very green grass covered hill in what seems to be a vast expanse of equally green hills. With few trees and no signs of civilization it's almost hard to equate this section of the planet with the metropolis you only just recently left.
Your pretty sure you can make the ship explode, or at least catch fire and eventually destroy the components inside. Looking over the systems (roll(11)+demolitions(6)) its just a matter of how long it would take to make the thing detonate and how fast corsec will take to get here.
With your mind looking for a place to hide your eyes are drawn to a small dark shade against the side of a hill not so far away (1 kilometer). Looking closer you can see that the shade is possibly the entrance to a cave or cavern, but either way where there is shadows there is a place to hide.
Each seat has a backpack with a condensing canteen with a built-in water purification system, a sunshield roll, 21 food substitute ration bars, 4 chemical glow sticks, a breath mask with 12 filters and 5 atmosphere canisters, comlink, medpac and an all temperature cloak
Sporting Blaster Rifle: 3d6, crit 19-20, range increment 40, 4 kg, Energy, Size Medium.

Jahn gathers the survival pack and quickly does a cursory inspection of the blaster rifle as Travis goes through the steps to cover thier tracks. He watched them as they tossed the lightsaber between eachother and shook his head lightly. After accounting for everything in his pack, he puts it on and makes sure the straps are comfortably tight with the blaster rifle in hand.
