Chapter 2c: Fleeing From Friends

To the east of Mahasarpa, Zakhara, and Wang Guo are the islands know as Jaza'ir U-Thangal-Mulk, or the Islands of the Beast. Hundreds of islands make up this area, dominated by the Beast and his lycanthrope minons. Will these creatures destroy all or will the peoples that call the islands home survive the terror that has lived amongst them for hundreds of years.(A vWorld Expansion)Run by DM TetNak

Chapter 2c: Fleeing From Friends

Post by TetNak » Mon Dec 17, 2007 9:31 pm

Here starts the Chapter 2c: Fleeing From Friends, as Garva and Zihao flee back toward the island

Garva and Zihao, assisted by Kugai, commandeer one of the canoes and flee the camp site and head for home. In the darkness of night the rowing is extremely slow. The siblings must make sure they are going the correct way, and that is not an easy thing in the middle of the night. Neither of them are well versed with this waterway, and most everyone was relying on Rishi. By mid-morning, Garva and Zihao do spot their island, its tale-tell trees and beaches. They did not arrive nearly as quickly as they might have hoped. The village will have been up for hours.

Zihao looks to Garva, a look of dread on her face. She seriously misjudged how long it would take to get to the island. "We'll be recognized. Even worse- they'll think we were the only survivors... What now?" she has never been good under pressure, unless she could swing a sword or a fist at the problem. Lately, she's gotten the feeling she's really going to have to work on that fault. But for now.. she'll lean on Garva. "should would hide in the Jungle until nightfall?" is her only suggestion.

"I knew we should have taken first watch..." He shakes his head and points to the west. "Lets go around west, we can beach the canoe aways up past the old fishing hole. Hopefully no one will see us." Garva starts paddling hard on the right to send the boat to the left and aims for a point on the coast quite aways away from the village, keeping as much distance as possible between them and the villagers.

Garva and Zihao angle the boat and paddle away from the village. They round the island and paddle the boat onto the the beach there. There are typically nets set up here for fishing, but he does not see anyone around right now. They probably will not collect the nets until after dusk. Neither Garva or Zihao notice anyone nearby.

Zihao works wth Garva to push the boat through the water towards their destination. She keeps a keen eye on the shore line as they get nearer to make sure they are not spotted.

As the boat reaches the shore she stands and jumps lightly into the surf to pull the boat up the beach and into the tree line to hide it. "Hopefully the tide will wash our tracks off the beach. I think someone would notice the boat marks in the sand." she says lightly- her first attempt at a joke today. "Perhaps once it's out of the wet sand, we could try to lift it to avoid the marks?"

"Its our best chance. Come on, paddle hard." Garva paddles as hard as he can, and as fast as he cna to get the canoe into land, beached. He keep smoving, helping his sister from the boat, and attempting to draw it up off teh shore and stash it in the jungle away from the normal paths. He works as fast as he can, so as not to delay in case anyone is around or is coming to check the nets.

The twins dock the boat and pick it up. It is fairly heavy, but with a slow go of it, the twins haul the canoe into the jungle. They make sure it is located in a large, thick, area that will not be easily seen. Even as the water moves up and down the shore their prints are being washed away.

"Looks like the sea will handle coving our tracks. Come on lets see if we can't slip back to the village and check in on mother undetected." Garva will double check to make sure the canoe and paddles (both of them) are well hidden, and then creeps off toward the village avoiding the main trails and going slow and cafeful.

"Let's go" Zihao says and begins picking her way through the jungle in the direction of the village. She is hoping that by wandering through dense foliage- they can hide their presence from the villagers for long enough to check on Mother and get some food stuffs.

Garva and Zihao begin to move through the jungle. Their village is very close, but they take a long, looping, path toward it. They are not forced to cross the river, as they made landfall on the other side, closest to the village. They begin to spot, through the trees, Abad Alwand. People mill about, working, and nothing looks like it has changed much right now.
