Provincial Guards

Post by Vardaen » Fri Apr 28, 2006 8:56 pm

There is a sudden shout from the north. The voice is Fahng's, but the words are for Lu Zhou and Meng Chen-Wei only as it comes in the ancient language. "Attackers!" The shout is clear enough even to the man Li, for as you turn to loook north you can see the Shadar-Kai standing behind another man, his spiked chain wrapped around his throat like a garote. The grey skinned creature has wrapped his chain around the other man and is squeezing the life from him. Struggling against the chain he has dropped his bow and arrow, and has his arms up, the markings of the Provincal Guards clear as day on his leather scale armor. Next to him jumping from hiding in the bushes is another man, a long lajatang (pole with double crecent moon blades on either side) in his hands! Fahng twists his hands and the chain and there is a snapping noise as the bowman goes limp in his grip.
Surprise: Fahng: Touch Att: 17 Success, Grapple Check: 25 vs 14 Success, 10 Dmg + 7 Sneak Att, DEAD
Initiative: Li Li 21, Fahng 19.4, Swordsmen 19.1, Chen-Wei 14, Lu Zhou 8 Bowman 6,

Lu Zhou Original Roll 4, Rerolled a 5! (Use of Ability)
Fahng is actually right behind #3 who just died. No one can see the two to the left, they have successfully hiden from all of you. So until they act you must ignore them. They aren't the men you are looking for.Image

"Watch out!" Li says as he darts foward a few paces with his bow raised, an arrow quickly falling upon it's string and pulled back. He squints in the darkness and makes out the shape of the second guard, pulls the string that extra inch back, and then lets it fly.
10ft northeast. Shooting at nr 4, +1d6 cause of skirmish.

Annoying conditional post:

If (Li does not kill #4)
{
Fanhg lets the body he's just created fall, uncoiling the chain from its neck in a motion that starts a wide circle. The circle is amplified as he spins around the fallen man and steps from the bushes, turning into a long arc headed for #4's head.
Move 1 SW of #3 and attack #4
}
else
{
Fahng lowers the body to the ground and starts going through its pockets.
}

Initiative: Li Li 21, Fahng 19.4, Swordsmen 19.1, Chen-Wei 14, Lu Zhou 8 Bowman 6,
Lu Zhou Original Roll 4, Rerolled a 5!

The poacher Li Li screams out as Fangh appears to the north calling out himself. With a few lithe steps to the north he leaps past his dog and sets an arrow to the string. With a quick release the arrow fires and zips through the under brush of the forest slamming into the man hidden in the brush. There is a scream and a curse as the lajatang wielding guardsman is struck by the arrow. However his lamellar armor lessens the sting of the arrow and it is not a fatal wound.
Li Li: Move 10, Fire 'œ20' (Crit Threat: 9 Non-Crit): 9+Scout Dmg 1 = 10 Dmg
The Shadar-Kai unwrapps his chain from around the throat of the bow wielding guardsman, and as he does sets it to spinning. He steps from the darkness of the trees into the open, but still finds that the trees and brush make using his spiked chain much harder than in the wide open. However he has trained with this exotic weapon for years, and like a talyor threading a needle he sends the spiked end through the brush at the man behind it. The spikes of the chain slam into the chest of the lamellar weaing man and nearly knock him from his feet as the assult is both strong and precise. He crumbles up against a tree, broken ribs, bleeding, and nearly expired now.
Fahng: (Trees and stuff -4 cover) Move, Att #4 'œ20' (Crit Threat: 10 Miss) Hit for 8 Dmg + Sneak Att (flat footed): 8 = 16 Dmg
The man crumpled against the tree calls out, "Get them!" He reaches into his belt and draws out a small terra cotta vial. Pulling the corke free he ducks under the whipping chain of the Shadar-Kai, this time avoiding the opportunistic attack. With a shaking hand he drinks down the contents of the vial, and seems to be rejuvinated, and ready for battle once again, brought back from the brink.
Swordsman: #4 Drink's Poition, AoO: 6 Miss, Potion: Curative
There is then another shout, "You filthy poacher! We'll kill you and your friends! You can't hide from the Emperor's Justice!" A another man, dressed and armed the same as the first, with lamellar and a lajatang appears from the dark forest to the northwest. He charges through the ruins right at Lu Zhou! The curved crecent blade slices into the stomach of the unwares Wu Jen! Blood begins to spill freely from the wound.
Swordsman: #2 Charges Lu Zhou: 13 Hit (flat footed) for 6 Dmg
Chen-Wei goes tense. His arms flex, and his fists ball, white knuckled. "The only justice here will be the Meng Family's!" He jumps forward and drives his clenched fist into the jaw of the guardman slamming him hard, knocking free a few teeth. He doesn't wait to give the man and opening as he brings his knee up into the gut of the man in a flurry of attacks knocking the wind out of the man. "Hiiiiyah!" Chen shouts.
Chen-Wei: Flurry Att #2: 19 Hit for 7 Dmg/19 Hit for 5 Dmg
Lu Zhou, bleeding, reacts...

"Aaagh," groans Lu Zhou, looking down at the swordsman, "You made a very poor decision." He already holds his his straight blade after threatening Li, but it appears he will be using it elsewhere. He does not wait, or explain himself, simply releasing his staff and grabbing hold of his sword, and afterward swinging his blade out at toward his attacker, hoping to cleave his skull.

Li doesn't move a muscle of satisfaction for hitting the provincial guard and simply frowns as he hears their words. He throws a quick glance upon his dog and then upon the old man who he recently meet and notices that the man is under attack, he lets out a shrill whistle and points upon the attacker that is trying to skewer Lu Zhou, and the dog sets of with a growl towards the attacker.

Li on the other hand quickly moves another ten feet forward as he nocks another arrow and fires upon the attacker he has a clear line of sight to.
Mao Qui (Furball) attacks #2, biting, Li fires again upon #4, skirmish +1d6

Initiative: Li Li 21, Mau Qui 21, Fahng 19.4, Swordsmen 19.1, Chen-Wei 14, Lu Zhou 8 Bowman 6, Lu Zhou 5
The poacher sets another arrow on the string of his Gong Jian and barks a command to the dog at his rear. Darting forward he begins to skirmish with the man, moving and shooting at the same time nearly. The arrow lauches from the string and against slams into the guardsman. This time diving deep into the flesh of the man's leg. A scream goes up from the bleeding man, and much of the color that was in his face rushes out, as he weakens greatly under the contant attacks.
Li Li: Shoots #4: 24 Hit for 10 Dmg
The dog, Mau Qui, "Furball", snarls and barks in reply to the comand given it by its master. Leaping to the side it charges at the attacking man, and with a mouth of large teeth it chomps down into the ankle of the lamellar wearing guard. Finding purchase on the exposed joint the dog rips out a hunck of flesh from the attacking man snarling, hackles up, ears down.

The Shadow Fae pays no attention to the arrow whistling by somewhere above his head, he has more immediate problems, an enemy to kill. He lets the weight on the end of the chain fly a third time.

Round 2

Post by Vardaen » Thu May 04, 2006 1:52 am

Initiative: Li Li & Dog 21, Fahng 19.4, Swordsmen 19.1, Chen-Wei 14, Lu Zhou 8 Bowman 6
The Shadar-Kai is focused, his chain spins around him in a vertical arch. The humming of the weapon fills the air with its strange sound. Then he releases the chain at just the right moment. The spikes on the end streak out across the open space between him and the assailant. Shattering brush and undergrowth the spikes lodge themselves into the man's chest, one punchturing his lung, the other his heart. With blood pooring from his mouth the man man slumps to the ground dead.
Fahng: Att #4: 'œ20' (Crit Threat: 12 Non-Crit)) Hit for 9Dmg, DEAD
The man remaining with the lajatang spins his weapon around in a sweeping low arc, the moon like blade slices through plantlife but missing Chen as the prince-monk leaps the weapon. A second thust of the weapon's second blade is met with a hand on the half of the pole arm and a block-push to the side. The guardman isn't have any luck battling the prince it seems, having ignored Lu Zhou and the dog yapping at his legs.
Swordsmen: #2 Att Chen: (Power Att: 2) 8 Miss/14 Miss
Chen-Wei has stepped inside the weapon's reache, and he uses that to his advantage, striking with an open palm into the man's armor, but the armor takes the blow. A second strike, a snap kick to the shin however finds a weak point and cracks bone and bruises tissue. "Surrender, and I will spare your life!"
Chen-Wei: Flurry #2: 16 Miss/17 Hit for 4 Dmg
Lu Zhou, recovering from his fumble, reacts...
