Re: Voices in the dark
Fahng turns back, nodding to the long speach. When asked about the wound, he wipes at the blood and comments, "No... this is something else," in a tone that makes it quite clear that he will not be explaining further.
Once the speech is done, he turns back and makes his way with them into the storage room. "I'd better show you... if you did release me, I suppose I should at least show you how not to be cooked by the trap."

The Vault
The group talks, and talks, and talks, and slowly gets to know one another as they move into the side chamber with the strange vault. Lu Zhou sits down and mopes, while Chao stands guard at the entrance to the chamber. The grey skinned Shadar-Kai moves forward with Chen-Wei to the odd vault.
In the center of the chamber is a large boulder. The stone acts as a giant chest of sorts, around its base are hundreds of arcane words of power. Capping the stone is a large cold iron lid and locking mechanism, like some modern day safe. One must rotate the dial in a series of patterns to unlock it, and reach the valuables within.
Fanhg has already used this vault and can show the Prince and others how to use it to try and get something out of it.

Re: The Vault
Lu Zhou has no idea what Chen-Wei is talking about. He fought, and aided in killing, their attackers. He did notice Chen-Wei sitting on his butt, really doing nothing to aid them, not that he did not try. Lu Zhou finally looks up when the others start walking into the other room. The wu jen starts to speak, but does not, actually holding his tongue in probably what would have been a scolding for the prince. Waiting a few moments, the One-Eye Wizard pushes himself to his feet, stretches out his shoulders and follows after the group.

Re: The Vault
Chen-Wei looks to his friend at the entrance to the room, and nods.
The young prince then looks at Lu Zhou and beckons him with a gesture.
"I think you should come here and observe this. Depending on how this vault door works, we should have more than one who knows how to open it."
Once the Shadar-kai has both his attention and that of the wizard, Chen-Wei nods to Fahng to proceed with his demonstration.
"You have our attention, Fahng."

Re: The Vault
Fahng nods and points to the runes around the base of the stone. "You are perhaps familiar with the tale of Lie Kee, though maybe not, the tale was old in my day. He was set four tasks:
To feed his lords armies for the duration of a campaign.
To outfit the army with weapons for the invasion
To Drain a flooded rice field that was in the way of his lords Armies
and To lead them to victory against his lords enemies"
He points at the runes on the base.
"All four of these tasks are spelled out clearly here... But this is not the order in which he undertook them."
He moves one of the rings of runes to the top. "First, he flooded the lake on the hill, by breaking the irrigation channel to the rice fields. This drained the field. His lords enemies then charged across the field to attack the starving and unequipped army."
He then moves another of the rings to the second position, and a third to the same position. "He then broke the dam of the lake, flooding the rice field once more and drowning the enemies. This accomplished his second and fourth task."
"When he drained the field again, it was full of fish as well as corpses. This fish fed the army for a day. Before they turned around and went home." He moves the remaining ring of runes to the third position and a barely audible hum in the room stops.
He then points at the lock on top of the vault. "That was considerably more difficult to figure out. The combination is 6 to the right, 8 to the left and 12 back to the right."

Re: The Vault
Fangh explains the locking sequence on the vault stone, and goes about unlocking it. Pushing words, and rearranging sentances he causes the trap to be disarmed, and then turns the lock and opens the heavy cold iron door that exposes a large 'bin' set inside the heavy boulder that is the vault. Inside you can find a collection of weapons and armor of ancient design and style. Much of the things look like the items that the Shadar-Kai is currently wearing or wielding. It is all of masterwork quality, and is very distinct in its appearance and design.
Chao stands guard.

Re: The Vault
Lu Zhou looks over the room, 'œInteresting,' he says simply, but does not move forward. 'œI see nothing that I would use,' the wu jen mentions. He shrugs and takes a step forward, using his staff as a walking stick, although he puts no weight upon it. 'œI see no obvious traps,' he says, but turns and looks at Chen-Wei, 'œThough I am no expert.' He simply waits there, drawing back into silence, and allows the others to riffle through the room and take anything they want.

Re: The Vault
Fahng turns and leaves the room again and heads south to the one room that he hasn't seen yet. He seems unconcerend with traps or enemies.

Re: The Vault
Once the prince has had an opportunity to examine the contents and made a choice on what to about it, he steps back, calls Chao forward, and asks him to see if there is anything that he would like to retrieve from the vault.
While all others are taking an opportunity (including Lu Zhou) to pick or trade out items, the prince, himself, stands guard.

Re: The Vault
Chen-Wei grabs a few Baio from inside the stone locker (its like a giant stone chest, not a bank vault, sorry for any confusion).
Chao waits for Chen-Wei to search the vault and then nods to his friend and prince, and moves to the vault and inspects the contents. He spends a few minutes looking through the things.
Lu Zhou doesn't find anything of use in the weapon locker, and is finished as Fanhg starts to move through the prison area to the south, pausing long enough to let the others follow him.
The group is ready to move on, finding nothing of real use to them. Anything that could have been stored here that was truely powerful or potent has been removed long ago by the Guardians presumably.
