Akira is pulled forward and upwards as the Ogre topples backwards. The Lion finds himself standing on the chest of the beast, hot black blood spraying over his mempo and armor. The Lion slams his foot into the colar bone of the Ogre and yanks hard pulling his yari free from the downed Ogre, he spins the weapon around slams the butt of it into the temple of the beast, "And stay dead!" He rolls his shoulder, face and body covered in the beast's lifeblood. He points the yari at the Ronin archers, "I'm coming for you next! I am Matsu Akira, Lion Warden, Once a Deathseeker, Chyrsthimum Magistrate, Savior of the Empress, Ogre Slayer! Run or die!"

Takeo charges forward into the thick of the battle. He ducks and then sweeps his katana out against the nearest enemy. The blade sweeps through the innards of the man without delay, spilling his intestines on the ground and sapping out his life in an instant.

Gidayu, within range of either group of ronin ...

The Witch Hunter pauses for a moment, staring in disbelief at the Ogre's fall. Perhaps its distance from the Shadowlands has weakened it, or his fellow samurai's arm was simply guided by the kami. Either way, it is a moot point. He now has to choose another target. To his mind, the only enemies known that have been able to attack with impunity are the archers. To them now does he approach. Moving swiftly but silently, he rushes at their ambush point and attacks.

Gidayu moves forward, but he's in the wide open now, sneaking would be difficult. Instead, he simply launches forward, swinging his katana, and cutting on the ronin across the chest. He falls to his knees, badly injured, but still breathing.

The Empress is no coward. "We must help the Crane!" she says, turning, and rushing back to face the ronin nearing the kill, alone. She yells out in a battle cry, "FOR ROKUGAN!" She stabs straight forward, impaling one of the ronin and dropping him to the ground in a puddle of his own blood.

"FOR ROKUGAN!" screams the Crane, on one knee. He thrusts his blade upward, pain on his face, but the blade drives true! The tip sticks into the man's chest, causing him to fall over to his side, the tip of the katana piercing his heart.

And like that, the selflessness of the Empress of Rokugan has saved the life of a lowly samurai, one she barely knew. Putting herself in danger, fighting with reckless abandon ...

The Champion flicks the no-doubt tainted blood of the legionnaires from his katana, watching as the two muscular samurai crash to the floor, minus their heads. He watches the incredible prowess of Akira as the ogre falls and the mercy of the Empress as she saves Daidoji Eikaze. 'œIt appears the light of Tengoku still favours us...'

His intense gaze fixates on the archers in the distance, the last remaining visible threat to the Empress. It guarantees they will not live long.

'œShall we show them the steel that turned the Battle of Oiku Hideki-san?'

Koshiro charges forward towards the ronin archers, ready to take apart their ranks...

Koshiro keeps moving forward. He swings his blade as he comes up on the ronin. The katana cuts the arm off one man, and in the same blow, cuts another behind the leg. The armless man bleeds on the grounds, barely alive as he bleeds out, while the second screams in pain on one knee.

"Hai -sama" Hideki replies nodding as he speaks, just in time to see Koshiro charging forward.

The Ashigaru adjusts his grip slightly on the forighn sword, and focuses on the two men Koshiro is charging forward to. Moving in fast behind him Hideki, not as familiar in the art of the blade as Koshiro, attempts to use the extra force from charging forward at the man in a large diagonal slash across his midsection.

Hideki rushes forward just after Koshiro, stabbing the man through the throat that Koshiro had cut down but not killed. The ronin dies quickly, and without a sound.

It only takes a few moments for Yaso and Akira to subdue the last ronin, knocking him down and holding him prisoner even as he leaks blood from his wounds. In the background the inn goes up in flames ..

Holding down the Ronin Yaso looks around at the devastation wrought around them. While he took a tremendous blow he is still standing but under considerable pain and it appears a number of ribs were cracked, yet showing weakness in front of the Empress herself would be shameful and he stands steady merely exhaling heavily. Looking for guidance from his champion.

The ronin does not have the strength to struggle, just simply laying there.
