Don't feel too bad. I have zero experience in this game. Which begs the question; should I start by getting the core rule book or what?Wbweather wrote:Okay. I am minimally familiar with the system. I have played Force and Destiny twice at game conventions and have the beginner game that I've run once. Sounds like you are all much more experienced in them than I am though.

Re: New Game Concept
There are three rulebooks. If you can, buy them all. If not, choose whichever you like best. The rules are the same, only careers and Force powers are different. I'd suggest you take Force and Destiny as it's got all the rules found on the other books and way more info on the Force.

Re: New Game Concept
Correct. Three rulebooks. You can get by with one based on what career you want.
I say hold off for just a bit and make sure this is the path we all want to go.

Re: New Game Concept
I do have the PDF for a couple of the books. Thinking about buying Force and Destiny for the reason Scout said, mostly because I want to run a game locally at some point. I am still open to whatever we decide though.

Re: New Game Concept
There's also rules cheat sheets (a doc of about 3-4 pages that has all of the rules/charts, etc.) floating around the interwebs. The char gen app also has all of the gear, weapons, careers, species, etc. from all of the books and supplements. I'm hoping they finally bundle a single corebook with the 3 books combined, but that's not looking like it's going to happen.

SW game?
I intend to upgrade my stuff early January, by the end of it at least so should be capable for live gaming maybe (depending on the next day).

My main concern is the real-time commitments and whether I can make them. What do you foresee those as being?

I used to play on a SW MUSH years ago and the 'clones' were basically biological weapons the bad guys used. Before the pre-quels, that's what I always visualized anyway... Like Zergs the baddies use to fight the Old Republic
