I'll be a soldier/merc/smuggler like, well-rounded, some piloting and good shooter. As far as SW goes, I think as long as we have a pilot the other players/skills will all work out fine.
Right now, I have 3D+1 starship piloting, but I could easily make that 4D with a few left over pips that I haven't spent yet. If nobody else is going pilot, then I could handle that. 3D is "pretty good" and 4D is "professionally trained" levels, so my 4Ds are in blasting and fighting.

I plan to see it eventually--I just prefer to watch shows when the entire season's available.

I used to play the d6 game all the time in the 90ies. Love it.
You might also use the Aftermath series by Chuck Wendig as background. It is also early New Republic.

Oof. I didn't care for the first book at all, so much so that I didn't bother with the other two. I've never done that with a Star Wars trilogy before, haha.
