"Hmm... broken glass... that's intriguing. Might mean he came out of a window from one side of the building or another, but that's not what killed him, obviously... lets have a closer look..."

Bob shifts his weight, trying to check the body at other angles. Between the lack of light and the jitters from that chase... and the shitstorm that's going to be waiting back at the station, this is sort of difficult at the moment....
One more try on wounds, then we're switching gears to the Alleyway...

Bob takes a deep breath, attempting to focus on the task at hand. He notices more about the body this time, much more. He pulls up the man's sweat shirt a notices a massive flat bruise upon his upper back. He also suspects that the lower back saw some trauma as well, being snapped, by what it is unclear. Bob guesses when the autopsy is performed they'll find a broken back for sure. On the man's trapezoids there are small wounds, which appear to be deep finger marks, as if someone sunk their fingers in there ... Further more, the man's ankle is broken badly, which is very conducive to falling, which means he did NOT fall on this back ...
Investigation: Homicide: 5 Successes (Much Better). You have one extra 'attempt' as you had so many successes that try.

The alley can wait -- this is getting interesting...

Bob starts taking notes in his PDA...

"Broken ankle... the man fell down on his feet... can't exactly do a controlled fall with a broken back... huh."

Bob has a look at the finger marks on the man's shoulders... notes in his PDA: Have forensics fingerprint victim's shoulder bruises. Someone strong enough to do this bare-handed will leave prints in the skin.

Someone strong enough.... that doesn't explain the glass, though.

Bob starts examining the body further...

There are no more injuries on the body ...

Bob then attempts to validate the cause of death, but it is pretty obvious. The glass, finger marks, broken ankle, and bruise on the back wouldn't cause death. Obviously the broken back is the cause ..
Moving on to "Cause of Death" with left over attempt, 4 successes, max knowledge gained

Bob grins inwardly... the first piece of the puzzle. Now for number two...

He casts his eyes about the alley, looking for anything that might be out of place... or exactly in place. In particular, he check up the sides of each building, for any broken windows on the lower floors - low enough so that a guy could fall out the window and still reliably land on his feet and live through it...

"The broken back must have taken place after the fall, he couldnt have landed on his ankle otherwise... which means, this was where he died. So where did he fall from, and who was here waiting for him? Or was he followed? What kind of crazy bastard would jump out of a window after a person? This isn't a professional job. That would have been a clean kill, two in the heart, one in the head, with a silenced pistol from behind. No, this was a crime of passion. Someone was strong and angry enough to snap this guy's back in two...."

Bob takes notes...

Bob continues to search. He takes a deep breath and smells the foul air, then spots, on the man's legs, a bunch of filth from a pile of garbage. He turns around and looks, spotting about a dozen bags by a nearby dumpster ...

"Hmmm.... I wonder. That man was covered in all kinds of filth and refuse when we ran into him. Too early to guess, but... let's see what we have over by this trash pile...

Bob makes his way towards the dumpster, trying hard not to inhale. The filth of the back-alley Hollywood streets was always the worst... baking 80-degree days did things to old daipers that are best not described... and it's best not even to think about anything... worse that might be found in there...

He pokes around a bit, looking for any signs of breakage or impact, any broken glass... anything disturbed...
