Acolytes, We Are Leaving!

Post by Vardaen » Thu Sep 17, 2015 4:47 pm

You cram into the pods and seal the doors. As quickly as you can you attempt to get them up and going as the ship shudders and shakes from the bombardment. Vogel watches as the doors seal. Damien and Sword begin to feel a massive build up of psychic energy about the pods as the ghost focuses his will upon them. All of you then hear a whisper in you mind “The Emperor protects,” before you are thrust from the collapsing space hulk on a psychic bow wave. Your pod's fire into space not a moment to soon. Looking out the tiny window you can see behind you the Twilight crumples, smashed to pieces by the cruisers of the Imperial Navy.

Acolytes, We Are Leaving!

Damien tries to find the vox transponder on the pod, activating the standard mayday call. The last thing he wants is for the Imperial Navy to include them in their bombardment. He could probably pierce the hull of these rickety pods with a standard laspistol. A glancing blow by a real weapon would split it like a melon. He keeps his attention busy on tasks at hand, rather than focusing on the very real possibility of them being killed in a senseless way.

Damien triggers the emergency transponder in his pod, and opens up Vox communication with the other pods. Haxtes and Jericus work in their pod, and within the hour you are scooped up by the Navy and brought back into the hold of the Imperial Dominator Cruiser, the Magnus Ecthelion where this all started.

The Magnus Ecthelion is barely less than a kilometre in length, it is armed with a massive series of laser cannon batteries that stretch more than half the span of its hull to both port and starboard. The forward prow of the ship has been shaped to resemble a magnificent armoured warrior, its raised sword the barrel of a massive nova cannon. The pods are but small insects when compared against the great ship and they easily disappear into its vast hanger bays as they smoothly touch down for their landings. There inside the landing bays you are all now reunited, and swiftly led down a series of corridors past armoured naval guards. You are continually treated with deference, but hustled all the same.

After several minutes of walking down the length of the massive vessel, you are finally deposited in a large and lavishly appointed ready room. One of their naval liaisons notes: "I will have refreshments brought at once." An aide soon brings in a small trolley with glasses and various refreshments on it; he silently salutes you all and departs.

You wait about an hour, Brother-Sergeant Agamorr with you, during this time you debrief the Space Marine on what took place after he left, and he fills you in on his actions. He spent most of the time locked in combat with the Dark Eldar leading them away from you, slaying their monsters and fighting to try and locate you. He commends you on your actions, on the recovery of both Sword and Book.

Sword has removed his armor and notes he is going to need to have it repaired. He drags it along since no one seemed to think even allowing them a shower would be appropriate. The stench of blood and guts is still all over him, and his own wounds ache now that the adrenaline of the fighting has worn off. Sword keeps the ancient blade on his back along with personal weapon. He doubts very much he'll be able to keep it and simply thinks it would serve him well in the future if they did. Maybe they would pay for his armor at least. Inquisitor Sand was a cheap spinthrift. "So, how about that fight, and the Brother-Sergeant's face." He nods over to the Space Marine idly as they wait.

Damien chuckles softly, leaning his head against the bulkhead. "Minus almost dying a time or two, it was pretty nice. Sucks about those two Acolytes dying, but it could have been much worse. If we hadn't had time to put up those barricades, they would have cut us to shreds." He looks curiously over at the Book that they salvaged. "I wonder what they wanted with that? It wasn't even on our priority list to recover. Curiouser and curiouser."

"Probably someone didn't know what they were talking about. I'm sure they will debrief us." Sword shrugs, "Would be nice to get some reward for this, I mean, sure, the Emperor and all that. But my blade is wet with blood on Inquisitor Sand's orders. Time to feed the dog, if you know what I am saying." The psyker walks over to the nearest chair and sits down with a sigh, grabbing some fruit and plopping it into his mouth as he does so.

Aftermath: Inquisitor Sand

Post by Vardaen » Tue Sep 22, 2015 4:07 pm

There is a low rasping voice that echoes through the chamber the moment Sword finishes speaking. "Yes, time to feed the dog Sword." Inquisitor Sand himself comes gliding into the chamber, having come up from the planet to the Magnus Ecthelion for this debriefing. He is a slender man, his face covered by a breathing apparatus that seems to get more complex each time you see him. He takes a seat around the table, and puts his hand out toward Jericus. The Senior Acolyte hands him his data slate, with a full and detailed report on it.

Sand makes no noise besides his heavy breathing as he reads through it leaving you all to just sit there. Finally he looks up, "I am thoroughly impressed with you all. I believe a promotion may be in order." He motions toward the table. "Let me see them, the book and the blade."

Damien almost snaps to attention when the Inquisitor enters, but manages to just perk up and be attentive. He looks over to the power-armored Psyker who had taken possession of the Artifacts, waiting for him to hand everything over.

Aftermath: Inquisitor Sand

Nemidia snaps into attention like she's in the presence of the Lord Marshall himself when the Inquisitor enters the room. She's wary of showing any disrespect least she draws down the Inquisitor's wrath. At the same time she can't help but feel immensly curious if more information will be revealed about the book and the sword.

Aftermath: Inquisitor Sand

Sword takes a deep breath, presenting the sword to Inquisitor Sand. It had no sheath (I think), and so the acolyte places it next to the Inquisitor for his inspection.

"The Dark Eldar wanted the book, not the sword, cannot say why. Damien put the fear of th God-Emperor into them, that is for certain. Single handly killed their warmaster."
