The psyker nods. "It's as good a place to start as any. If this Cathedral has been declared accursed, there might still be standing instructions with the Arbites to keep the place clear. Orders like that might be dated. Or the building has just been forgotten in some hidden corner, in which case that's a dead end." He taps his chin in thought. "Perhaps there are also further records about these Hekate family members." He turns to their resident expert in bureaucracies and paperwork, and frowns.

"Jericus, you're not looking too well. Perhaps you should sit this one out, and continue on digging through the records while the rest of us travel to the Cathedral."
Giving an easy out for Jericus. Plus, he really is good at paperwork investigations, and navigating bureaucracies. That was kind of his thing.

Jericus nods, "I think you may be right. I will remain here in the city and see what more I can find about the Hekate. Perhaps I will be able to send you a message, keep in touch along your way, report in, so I know where you are at." He looks to Damian, "You and I will speak later, before you leave, I have a few things to give you."

Damien raises an eyebrow, and then nods. "Understood. We will make the arrangements, and you and I will meet beforehand to discuss what you wish."

Haxtes nods. "We will travel to this place and find and destroy the heresy at that place if (and only if) there is a heresy there."
He waits patiently until a transport has been arranged and Jericus has talked to Damien.

Mutant Ambush: Round 1

Post by Vardaen » Wed Jun 06, 2018 3:05 pm

The Abbot nods to Merica and hurries off to get a transport arranged. At this late hour you expect it will not be until the dawn hours. You take what sleep you can, in simple acolyte chambers in the cathedral. You rest and ready, and after a short repast in the morning the Abbot informs you the transport will be arriving shortly. Jericus, knowing that he won't be going with you met last night with Damien to transfer any information he needed to over to him, along with a few minor tools that might come in handy. As soon as breakfast is over Jericus takes his leave to seek out the Administratum in the city to see what more he can dig up from the archives on the Hekate family name.

As you head out of the Gilded Cathedral you greet the day and are in turn greeted by a small group of men moving up toward stairs of the cathedral. There are five of them, four of them are clearly mutated and mishappen and covered in tiny self inflicted cuts. Dressed in tattered blue robes each is decorated with a pair of false, bright-feathered wings strapped to their backs. They wear masks that cover their noses and mouths and resemble the beaks of birds. They hold heavy flails in their hands, and are softly chanting. Behind them comes a witch, a mad psyker with tattered robes and a long staff topped with a rusting iron ring that has been sharpened on the outside to create a dangerous edge.

They are chanting, their voices one after the other, each taking a different line:

Three puppets tied to strings!
All pirouette on rotting wings!
Wear your flesh dance upon the mar.
You are but fit for the craw.
The gilded one will damn us all!
Upon the Pax the souls shall fall!

They close in on your position quickly, but you pounce....

Mutant Ambush: Round 1

Damien strides forward, then slams the butt of his Staff onto the ground. The human vertebrae and skull that makes up the Staff of the Martyred Psyker glow as he calls upon his power. "I denounce thee, witch. Submit to the will of the holy God-Emperor, and die!" He points the glowing skull at the wild psyker, trying to snuff out her life with his mind.
Half-Action - move 3xSW. That puts me at about 9 meters from her? Cast 'Blood Boil' on the enemy psyker. 4d10+10, TN 19. Going for some good ol' Alpha Strike Overbleed to knock out the competition.

Mutant Ambush: Round 1

Caught without her armor, Merica pulls her laspistol upon the witch as first reflex, and nevertheless resumes her walk southward. "Death shall be your salvation!"

Someone had told the enemy that the Inquisition would be paying a visit to this planet. Shoot first, though, she's good at that.
Move: 2-3 south. Less if Damien occupies the same square. More to get within both line of sight and range of the witch, if 2-3 won't cut it.

Shoot the witch if she is still alive. If she is dead, Mutant #1 instead.

Haxtes sweeps his gaze over the enemy before springing into action. He powers up his internal laspistols, points his arms at the witch (if she still lives) and fires a barrage of lasblasts at her.
two weapon fighting, ambidextrous,

Left arm: internal Lathe laspistol, semi auto fire at witch. +10 semi auto, +10 close range (if under 15m), +10 good quality
Right arm: internal Lathe laspistol, semi auto fire at witch. +10 semi auto, +10 close range (if under 15m), +10 good quality
If the witch is already dead at this point, fire at closest mutant.

Mutant Ambush: Round 2

Post by Vardaen » Fri Jun 08, 2018 6:40 pm

Round 1 Damien 13, Merica 11, Haxtes 11, Razorwing 10

Round 2 Damien 13, Merica 11, Haxtes 11, Razorwing 10
Damien stalks forward an then reaches out with his power, as he focuses his power a very faint breeze blows past him and those around him. You all start to get the feeling that something terrible has just happened someplace in the galaxy. Reaching out into the body of the witch. With a rhythmic crushing gesture, Damien tunes into her body, flexing her heart muscles to accelerate their pulse. This continues until their blood pressure reaches lethal levels. As he continue to exert his will, blood vessels begin to rupture, causing haemorrhaging across her body. Still she manages to remain upright and part of the battle, if only just.

Merica calls out and steps up. She lines up a shot and and grazes the witch's chest with a blast from her laspistol. It doesn't drop her as Merica had hoped, but the enemy witch is looking pretty bad already.

HAxtes, his line of sight lost as Merica moves into range, turns on one of the mutant warriors. His twin lathe laspistols charge to full power from his lumin pack then send out a volley of super heated energy blasts. The target is hit with a trio of the blasts sending him flying to the ground in a smouldering heap.

The pysker chants, "Skin upon the bones of men, Razors on the Macharian Sin!" Her voice grows louder and louder until its insanely loud inside Merica and Damien's head, but before it can reach critical levels something happens, and the witch grabs at her shoulder, her attention distracted, her body fatigued, she falters and her voice drops to a whisper doing you no harm.

The three flail wielding maniacs charge, one swing at Damien who doesn't manage to dodge in time, but his simple leg armor absorbs the blow causing him no harm. He manages to dodge the second man,and Merica easily avoids the lunatic attacking her as well.

The Inquisition fights on...
