Egbert fervently looks around to see when the others are going to be up and if the Elder Shaman is somewhere. He turns his attention to the bugbear, does a quick salute (touching his own forehead with his sword) and springs into action: "For Lugus!" He puts all his strength into the blow aiming at the bugbear's midsection.
Attack Bugbear using smite evil. (If, and only if, he should fell him with one stroke, move 1e then.)

Round 3 Initiative: Egbert 16.3, Goblins 15.1, Bugbear 13.1, Humans 10

Egbert fervertly looks around for thte others and can hear fighting inside the ony tent, however the Shaman isn't to be seen. Shouting with a salute he chops into the bugbear's midsection and nearly disembowels the Frostling! The blade turns at the last second, deflected by the leather armor of the beast just enough. That doesn't however stop the sword for hacking to the creature alltogether. The blood that sprays from the bugbear and the howling scream of pain lets Egbert know that Lugus' blessing has smote the beast! There is the smell of burnt hair in the air from where the blade landed the blow.
Egbert: Attack BB1 (Smite Evil) 'œ19' (Crit: 15) Non Crit Hit for 10 + 5 Smite = 15 Dmg
Then the Frostlings swarm over Egbert. The man is beset on all sides by moving and scampering goblins. One from his tent joins the fight, its dagger dripping blood. One of the Frostling slips on the icy ground and takes a tumbling spill at Egbert's feet. The others however try and stab with bone daggers. Twice Egbert can feel the sting of the goblin's bite, minor wounds, little more than annoyances. The newly arrived goblins however also attack him. This time two of them have small bows and fire off stone tipped arrows at him. His shield blocks one of the arrows, the shaft shatters as it connects, while the other fires high over his head. A third from the south joins against him with a stone axe and he manages to connect with the back of Egbert's leg, quickly Egbert is being surrounded and overwhelmed with little biting strikes.
Goblin #1 Move/Draw Bone Dagger: Attack Egbert 'œ1' (Fumble: 3) Fumble! Falls Prone
Goblin #2 Move/Draw Bone Dagger: Attack Egbert (flanking w/ BB) 'œ20' (Crit: 12) Non Crit Hit for 1 Dmg!
Goblin #5 Move/Draw Bone Dagger: Attack Egbert 20 Hit for 2 Dmg @ 44/52
Goblin #7 Move, Att Egbert 20 Hit for 2 Dmg
Goblin #8 5ft, Shoot Egbert 19 Miss
Goblin #9 5ft, Shoot Egbert 11 Miss
The bugbear, bleeding badly from his belly howls but stands its ground, with another strong overhand swing of the rusted iron morningstar it slams the weapon into the ground where Egbert was standing. Its wound is great, and it reduces its ability to fight giving Egbert plenty of time to avoid the strong blow. The other bugbear that has joined blows a oxen horn, the resounding noise is echoed by what sounds like a dozen more Snow Goblins hidden in the darkness around the camp. More frightening however is the second horn blow, clear and clarion in its call.
Bugbear 1: Att Egbert (flanking w/ 2): 15 Miss
Bugbear 2: Blows Horn
Inside the tent there is noise of a fight, grunting and swinging of weapons and then at sick *thunk* "Praise Lugus!" The voice is Arlis' voice as he has just driven his axe into the skull of the goblin inside the tent. Getting to their feet the two men inside the tent are about to come out to help. "Hold strong brothers", shout Yohan from inside.
Goblin #6 Att Arlis: 8 Miss

Egbert fervently looks around and makes the goblins behind him back away a bit with a few wild and unaimed slashes. Then he turns to the bugbear, holds his sword high above his head and has it coming down on the monster's head.
All the while he screams: "Flee, flee, there are too many. Get out of here while you can. I will try to hold them for a few seconds!" He is intent on holding the enemies for some seconds to let his companions flee.
Attack Bugbear using a +1 power attack.

Round 5 Initiative: Egbert 16.3, Goblins 15.1, Bugbear 13.1, Humans 10
Egbert shouts for the two others to flee as he swings a few times to push back the goblin behind him. Gaining some room to swing the man steps toard te Bugbear again and with a heavy, and powerful overhand swing it down into the skull of the bugbear planting it right between the eyes. The sword cleaves the skull of the Frostling wide open driving it to its knees. Balanced in and upright position the Bugbeg topples over when Egbert yanks his blade, covered in grey matter, free of the things skull. All around the goblins start to scream, a bit worried now it seems.
Egbert: Power Attack (1) vs Bugbear 27 Hit for 12 Dmg, DEAD
The goblins however press the attack still. With club and dagger, axe, and bows the goblins gang up on Egbert. The warrior blocks with his shield, parries with his sword, and takes a hit on his armor a few times. Arrows race over his head, and he avoids all attacks save one dagger that stabs into the back of his knee where is armor isn't. The bone tooth weapon hurts but it won't slow down the Paladin of Lugus.
Goblin #1 (flank) Att Egbert 15 Miss
Goblin #2 Att Egbert 14 Miss
Goblin #5 (flank) Att Egbert 20 Hit for 2 Dmg
Goblin #7 Att Egbert 4 Miss
Goblin #8 Shoot Egbert 12 Miss
Goblin #9 Shoot Egbert 15 Miss
The second Frostling Bugbear joins the fight, this time however the creature holds into a air a javelin that is covered in totems. The creature shouts and waves the spear in the air and then points it at Egbert. A flash of light errupts, and two icy balls of energy fly from the bugbear's magical weapon and collide with Egbert's head buffeting him around and back. A ringing in his ear, his face half frozen, and his jaw aching, it seems Egbert now must face a warlock of some kind!
Bugbear 2 Magic Missle Egbert: 9 Dmg
The two men burst from the tent, Yohan and Arlis, both armed. THe man Yohan has a dagger in his hand, and isn't wearing anything other than his sleeping wools. Arlis is up, with a bronze axe in hand dripping goblin blood, and his sleeping hides hang hap hazardly over his body. The Arlis shouts back, "You fool Egbert, we ain't running no place. You can't have all the fun here! Where is the Elder Shaman?" They join the fight flanking Egbert and striking at the Frostlings. Yohan misses, but Arlis' axe chops into the chest of a goblin knocking it off its feet and sending it into the snow dead.
Yohan: Move, Att 05: 10 Miss
Arlis: Move, Att 01: 19 Hit for 5 Dmg, DEAD
There is some noise to the west, the shouts and cries of the Brantha screaming as more unseen Frostlings are decending on the tied up mounts and no doubt ripping into them.
They are/were to the west off the map.
Round 6 Initiative: Egbert 16.3, Goblins 15.1, Bugbear 13.1, Humans 10

Heartied by the arrival of his companions, Egbert cries "For Lugus!" and thrusts his blade low at one of the goblins.

Round 5 Initiative: Egbert 16.3, Goblins 15.1, Bugbear 13.1, Humans 10
Egbert shouts a battle cry and stabs his blade into the heart of the nearby goblin. The blade punches through its ribs and lungs and heart killing the thing instantly. With a snow covered boot Egbert kicks the dead Forstling off his blade.
Egbert Att #7: 23 Hit for 14! (Max) DEAD
The goblins retaliate, swinging now more wildly than ever as they are being cut down all around them. Egbert is getting tired, and he slows down enough to let one with a dagger slice his ankle with the bone weapon. His flesh rips from the weapons strike. The two with the bows fire, and one goes wide, but the other sticks deep into Arlis' chest knocking the man back a few steps. "I've been shot!" He cries out, as blood runs down his front.
Goblin #2 Att Egbet: 20 Hit for 2 Dmg
Goblin #5 'œ1' (Fumble: 17) Miss
Goblin #8 Shoot Arlis 14 Hit for 5 Dmg
Goblin #9 Shoot Arlis 9 Miss
"Let me finish ya off!" The Bugbear points his totem covered javelin at Arlis and two more blasts of bright icy energy flies out of the sorcerer's weapon striking Arlis unerringly. The blasts slam into the man's chest and throat sendings him sprawling into the snow in a heap of flesh and wool under garments. It doesn't look like the young man is still breathing!
Bugbear 2 Magic Missle Arlis: 8 Dmg, DEAD
"ARLIS!" Yohan looks frantic as his tentmate is slain by the Bugbear witch. He puts all his anger into his thrust and stabs the Snow Goblin through the eye socket with his own bronze dagger punching a nice hole into its pea sized brain. The Goblin drops to the ground dead.
Yohan: Att #5: 22 Hit for 5 Dmg, DEAD
Someplace in the distance there is a horn blast, and a flash of red light. The bugbear spellcaster shouts in his foul language, and while you don't understand it, you can tell its meaning as everythong looks like they are about ready to withdraw from the battle...

Egbert...
Just remove #5, #7 and Arlis from the map

Breathing heavily, the follower of Lugus hacks wildly at the last goblin.
Attack last goblin. If it falls, regroup with Yohan (stay more or less put. Get ready to charge the BB if it does not flee.

Round 6Initiative: Egbert 16.3, Goblins 15.1, Bugbear 13.1, Humans 10
Egbert is panting hard now, and he swings weakly slipping in the pools of blood that are starting to freeze around his feet. The sword he wields swings high, and for the first time this fight Egbert misses his target. He collects himself and stays ready to fight.
Egbert Att #2: 12 Miss
The goblins then break and flee, as does the Bugbear spellflinger. As the goblins break and flee, in no organized pattern Egbert takes an opportunistic attack on one as it turns it back and this time he hits. Stabbing the thing in the spine the honorless Frostlinig falls dead face down in the snow. The rest of the goblins race off fleeing into the night, and the Bugbear hurries into the shadows of the trees and the night himself. Unless the two men persue, the battle is over for now...
Goblin #2 AoO 20 Hit for 6 DEAD

Combat is effectively over! Nicely done!!!!

Egbert leans on his sword, panting. "We need to move fast, if we are to survive. Get yourself armed, Yohan. Make haste! I will look for survivors."
With that, Egbert does a quick scan of the tents, looking for survivors and especially the Elder Shaman.

Egbert moves into the tents to check for survivors, while he does Yohan is inside his tent dressing. He collects his armor and arms. The other young man drapes himself with thick hides and collects a Tigerskull Club, several javelins, and his bronze dagger. Gathering other supplies as well, he collects his pack and such loading up for travel.

Egbert finds that the others inside the tents are dead, murdered in their sleep by the Frostlings. Some have slit throats, others stab wounds to the heart. Among the dead the Elder Shaman is not found, so hope remains that he may yet still be alive, but if so, where is he?

Yohan comes out to the fire finishing lashing his pack to his back, "I am read Egbert, but what are we to do? Everyone is dead, everyone is..." he glups down hard, and as the adrenaline of the fight is wearing off the young man (4 years Egbert's junior) is started to look shaken up.

For now the Frostlings haven't returned...
