Such is the god's power that their will is physically manifested. When two or more agree, that manifestation is even more potent. At the formation of The Compact, a symbol of that agreement was created: a sword inscribed with the mark of each god. Each agreed that if they broke The Compact they would be vulnerable to this sword, which came to bear the name Godslayer.
The Godslayer has been broken in the war between Mulcarn and Sucellus into three pieces and over 300 years those pieces have been moving close to each other. Now they all lie in the area of Letum Frigus, the place where Sucellus was killed, the home of Mulcarn.
Kylorin has gone into this region and has sought out the bands of men that still survive in a battle against Mulcarn and his forces. He has set in motion a plan to reforge the Godslayer and to do what a god had failed to do, kill the God of Winter.
Much has happened. The Children have discovered another sibling, this one named Ronk of the Blood Ram. He has grown up among the Doviello, thinking he was of those people, when in truth his father was none other than Kylorin the Archmage. Finding this barbarian has taken the family on a wild journey from the Ice Graves of the Giants to the roots of the mountain known as The Dragon. Battling Doviello and a Cold Rider the group was forced into a cave at the head waters of a frozen river. An avalache sealed them with, but they soon discovered the caves lead to ancient Nomanhel complex which was itself linked to ancient dwarven fortress.
The Branch of Life, a mytic relic of the Nomanhel and in fact all Anhel was discovered to have been stolen by Charadon Chief of Chiefs of the Doviello. A task was given to them, but not by mortal men, or arch mages, but by Nantosuelta the Faithful the Goddess of Enchantment the Lover of Sucellus and the teacher of Kylorin himself. The branch must be recovered at all costs, for with its loss the Nomanhel are doomed to a cursed life of death and darkness through a compact they made with a spider demon during the start of the Ice Age.
The group pledged to recover it, and continued to battle their way up through the mountain until they came to an ancient dwarven tomb. Riddles and puzzles, monsters and battles, they put the long undead dwarf queen to rest. Onward, to the Doviello and Illian camp outside near to the top of the Dragon. Finding a Seer, Ronk took revenge against him for his slaughtered clan, and freed a Snowmask Barbarian in the process. From there, with the whole of the Doviello alerted, they fled.
Now on the run through the bowl between mountain they make for the Huskarl's Keep atop the mountain known as King's Peak. There they hope to find Charadon and the rest of the Seers and stop them before they can recover and ancient relic of the Huskarl King with which the Doviello Chieftain can use to "Slay the Dragon" (some how defeating the mountain and claiming something for the God of Winter within).
For two days the Children have been climbing up hidden paths, and narrow passes, getting closer and closer to the top of King's Peak and the lands of the Snowmask Barbarians.
