Chapter 1: Plague

[Vardaen]

"We can retreat to the stairwell going up. We can choke them on the stairs, and have hte advantage of higher ground. Like you said, they can't move well maybe climbing up stairs will be enough of a..." a shutter wing open inwards, "damn it!" He pushes on it closing it again, "...maybe the stairs up will be enough of an obstacle to slow them down, espcially when we fill the stairwell with beds and dressers!" He spreads out so there is one person per window, out doubles up if there aren't that many windows. "Chaster, I swear if your bombs lit this place on fire and we have to worry about being roasted to death on top of being infected by the Sickened, I'll kill you myself." He looks over at the fat inn keeper, "Go up stairs and throw your flaming oil bombs out the windows at the ones in the rear, and tell the ladies to move to the atic, and shout down what you see!"

Dal runs around the inn assisting others when needed and trying to secure and double check each window and door. When Durnic chastises Chaster, he moves to help the inn keeper assess the situation and throw some flaming bombs at the creatures attacking the back of the building. He hopes to get a quick assessment on the families in hopes to provide a little relief to Durnic.

Everyone makes sure to board up the inn as well as they can. The banging goes on through the night. But when dawn rises above Whitewood the banging suddenly stops, as does the strange moaning. Everyone is completely exhausted from the night, but not fight came to the inn, as the zombies were apparently not able to break the defenses.

[Brennor]

Dunstan looks around as the noise suddenly stops. "Uh, what just happened... they just... went away?"

Axe at the ready, he very cautiously opens the shutter he has been struggling against last night and peeks through the opening to the street beyond, trying to keep his head far enough back that a random arm flailing through the opening won't catch it.

[Vardaen]

Durnic is leaning against his shutters and doesn't even notice the noise stops until Dunstan say something. He looks up and around and then out the broken slats of the shutter himself. "Dawn..."

[Brennor]

Dunstan is puzzled... "Dawn. That doesn't make you stop doing anything though, does it?"

[Shurijo]

Dal is quick to speak, 'œLet's go! We can make a break for it and get out of town. The other towns might not be infected yet.'

[Illeveun]

Fern looks confused. "Dawn? We should make sure that they are gone before we leave. Who knows, they may be laying a trap for us. We show ourselves, get away from the inn, and they either attack it, attack us, or both."

[Vardaen]

Durnic nods to Fern, "Lets check from upstairs. He moves up stairs slowly, his own wound festinger with infection, but so far it looks like just a normal one you would get from any claw marks from an animal." He heads up the stairs and knock on the door to the room his wife is in. "Dear, they seem to be gone. We are going to check, but get ready, get the kids ready, we might have to run out of town." He then goes into an empty room and looks out the window....

Chaster nods as he heads for the upstairs, bringing his knife with him.
