The snow falls heavily, and Dal knows he will have to start a fire tonight. He hopes he does not set his tiny home on fire like he did a few weeks ago. He spend the next three days sleeping outside because of the stink.

Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
Dal waves to Durnic, heading off toward his own home/shack at the edge of town. He has never made a great deal of money, but the fish have never dried up, and so he has always had something to sell.

Re: Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
As Dal trudges through the snow, he remembers that he should pick up some firewood so he doesn't have to burn his bed to stay warm. The young man enters his home and takes a few moments to warm up before collecting his hand axe. When he exits his home, he picks up his sleigh that he uses to drag firewood and other things through the snow so he doesn't need to carry them.

Dal collects his sleigh and pulls it to his woodpile that one of the lumberjacks cut up for him. He grunts, as these are big pieces of wood, and throws them onto his sleigh. It takes him a few minutes to stock up before pulling the sleigh back home again.

Re: Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
Dal knows that he's lucky that the wood pile is small enough for him to carry. Having to chop up the firewood in the cold such as this would just be too much hard work for him. After a while, he has a sleigh full of firewood that should keep him warm enough for the coming night. He pulls the sleigh onwards towards his home.
Upon his arrival, he begins stacking the wood near his home and brings a few loads into his home so he won't need to make any extra trips outdoors in the night.

Re: Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
Dal settles himself down for a night of relaxation. After all, he has walked around a lot today, and he deserves it. He builds the fire, which does not take too long to get going, and warms his home sufficiently.
Just as Dal is setting settled, he hears a great scream of terror from down the street ...

Re: Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
Dal sits up from his comfortable position, 'œWhat the '˜ell? It's gotta be those kids again playing outside.' He tries to ignore it, but a few moments later something causes him a little more suspicion and he rises.
He heads over to get dressed, putting on his warmer clothes, boots, and heavy cloak. He also grabs his lantern hoping that whatever is happening near his home will be persuaded to leave once he arrives to shine some light on the situation.

"HELP!" Dal hears someone scream, from down the road, probably some distance. Dal cannot help but recognize the voice as Gelan's.

Dal mutters, 'œWhat's the boy gotten into now? Chaster's got to keep an eye on him.' He takes up his lantern and trudges back through the snow towards the Gelan. He can't just yet make out any figures, but since nothing exciting ever happens around here, he just assumes that the boy might have fallen or something.

Re: Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
Dal then spots it, in the distance, as darkness is overtaking the day ... a lick of flames from the top of Chaster's inn. The flames burst outside a window and throws glass everywhere. It is obvious, as Dal sees it, that Gelan is screaming before the fire could be seen, at least by Dal.

Re: Interlude: No Plague for Dal!
Dal notices the flames rising from the top of the inn. He picks up the pace and begins running to help Chaster put out the flames. 'œ'ell, this ain't good,' he mutters as he runs in the direction of Gelan hoping to find out what is going on and if there's anyone still inside.
