Issue 1: Origin Stories

Commerce City, glorious American beacon of business and model metropolis for the world, is under the constant threat of supervillains. The police are either too helpless, incompetent, or smart to oppose the dastardly madmen (and madwomen) that would unleash havoc on the lives of the millions of commuters that call the city their home. Are there any heroes that will heed the call and defend Commerce City for free.

The Spark shrugs. "No idea. What 'staff'?" He tries to see what direction the bad guys ran to.

Robotarm wakes up and finds himself neatly handcuffed. "GAH!"

He sees the heroes standing over him and looking none too pleased. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

For a flimsy man Robotarm can scream rather loud.

"What the.... Staph?" Charade unzips her secret cloak compartment and pulls out her waterless sanitizer. Briskly rubbing it on she towers over the screaming Robosissy. "Bring him back to headquarters boys," she says, "we can question him more... carefully there."

Out of hiding from behind a burnt city bus stride Lana Literation and her broad shouldered but meek looking co-reporter.

"Lana Literation, Commerce Chronicle."

"Hi and I'm-"starts her co-reporter before getting cut off by Lana.

"Look at Ball Point! Is Hotstuff going to help pay for the repairs of this beloved intersection? Why did these supervillains attack? Was it some personal feud that the city had the misfortune to host? If that's the case, how could you? What do you have to say to that?"

The Spark glares at Lana. "Look here, baby. These were criminal scum and we cleaned house. They did not have enough "staff" to be a big problem. We have never seen these people before. They commited crimes, so you should hold them responsible, baby."
"Has anyone got an aspirin?" He still is feeling a bit dizzy from when the car hit him in mid-flight.

Billards Boy stands up and dusts himself off after the explosion rocks the city. "What was that?" He clears the cob webs from his head, "Where are the others? I pray they were there..." he points at the base of the mushroom cloud rising up over the city. Looking for the Super Villian Girl he knew he just sighs. "Too bad Midi just wasn't in the right key, so she'd make a great hero." Striding over to the others, and adjusting his cape when the reporter shows up he leans into the Butcher offering in a soft tone, "We better find the others."

The meek reporter finally gets a word in. "Hi, I'm Miles Mannered. Who were the villains you fought working for?"

Billards Boy chimes in at the reporter, "We don't know who they are working for yet, but we will find out." Then he turns to the others, "Someone call the others, we need to find out if they are alright." He is watching the pillar rising into the air far off.

Lana Literation begins snapping photos of the heroes at angles certain to be unflattering. She seems to take care to get plenty of rubble in the background.

The pillar Billards Boy watches fades to nothing, leaving no trace behind. It didn't seem like an actual explosion or physical smoke, just a sudden unexplained darkness that coated the city.

Charade sighs as yet another unflattering flash signifies a picture poorly able to convey the craftmanship of her ... outfit. Her driver pulls to a stop at the curb and she dials the Blue Boomerang on her cell, hoping to gather HOTSTUFF together shortly. After the near germ scare, she isn't willing to risk being out of her element much longer. Her car peels off away from the curb, while Charade waits for Blue's reply.
