Now to the races of the world
I was planning on having them all on the same world, except for the dwarves, but I want to see what you have thought about where the races should be placed.

Re: FFRPG: Setting Brainstorm
I actually thought inter-world commerce might make for an interesting theme, so different humanoids might inhabit different worlds. Certain creatures seem more adapted to certain biomes; why not give them worlds where that biome dominates?

Yes, that would work. And, with the worlds all shifting and moving, it could see a flow of trade, as one world gets farther away from another, it could cost more power to get to it, thus causing trade to decrease as profit margins decrease and increase as the worlds get closer, making it easier to get there. Cultures, when the worlds are close to one another, could also shift and change more rapidly when exposed to outside influence.

I like the idea of an ebb and flow of different kinds of trade; different commodities cheap or dear depending on their position in the Cosmos.

Re: FFRPG: Setting Brainstorm
Yes. So, should we have one world for each race, or should we, for example, group moogles and viera, because they live in similar habitats, on one world, or something of the sort.
Also, what else have you come up with about the snatchers?

Re: FFRPG: Setting Brainstorm
World ideas so far:
Elfheim - older world more distant from the world-heart. Red sun. Through war and mismanagement elves have functionally extinguished almost all life on their world, including more than one sentient race. Now those who seek to rebuild battle those who wish to merely extend their own existence (Dark Elves) in the ruins of kingdoms all but forgotten. Largest of the otherworlds, with variety similar to Earth-like homeworld
Zarok - Desert world, arid. Only recently coming into contact with the homeworld again. Large empire of the Bangaa dominates the world, with Galka existing either within the empire as second-class citizens or as independent villages.
Atonga - Jungle world, with a large archipelago of tropical islands. Society such as it is is tribal, with Mithra and Ronso along much of the equitorial region and Varg settlements nearer the South Pole. Mithra shipwrights produce the finest vessels known, as well as some of the most skilled pirates.
The Greatwood - A plane of forest broken only by rivers. Very high magic; popular place for magical and alchemical components. Viera settlements predominate (not that they're any easier to find) with communes of equally long-lived Nu Mou. Most infamous, however, are the Taru villages - though shorter-lived, these more powerful creatures search with implacable curiosity. The Greatwood is moving away from the homeworld - within a few years it will no longer be accessible directly.
Frostend - A young world, closer to the World-Heart. A place of high mountains and frozen seas. Its ice age is only just ending, causing the Crimeire to emerge from their mountain fastnesses and begin exploring, while driving the Yetis from the shallower fjords into higher peaks. The Crimeire have developed the first airships, and sell their new discovery dearly.
Moogles I saw as a scattered race - perhaps the first to travel the worlds. Qu are hard to place - not sure what to do with them. Humans live in the homeworld, and dwarves in the outerworld of strange time.
Thoughts?

Re: FFRPG: Setting Brainstorm
It sounds good. Yes, moogles do sound like the ones who would first discover there was other worlds. Just one thing, and that is that maybe Ronso should be on both Frostend and Atonga, as both of those sound exactly like their habitats.
Maybe Qu should be on the homeworld, divided between two major factions, the cannibals, and the ones who, as the rulebook says, stop just short of cannibalism. The cannibals are the more warlike of the two, and attacked both the other Qu and the humans, who saw them as hedonistic monsters.

Makes sense. We may want to have the Ronso have legends of travel between the worlds, but no real details. Clearly their methods have been lost to time.

Re: FFRPG: Setting Brainstorm
Yes. It would add more of a sense of mystery to the entire thing, such as, which world did they come from, if either of them? Also, are those the only worlds you want, or should we add in a few dead worlds or ones that haven't been explored yet?

Re: FFRPG: Setting Brainstorm
More worlds, certainly! Definitely a dead world or two (one with ruins, one a more savanna-style expanse of plain) and at least a few more unexplored worlds.
