Re: Orc Attack
"I'm sorry, but being roasted isn't part of my itinerary."
Velethahl replies as he raises his bow and sends another shot down towards the orc.

Re: Orc Attack
Velethahl takes a step back, reloads his bow quickly and sends an arrow into its breast from above just where its chainmail shirt ends at the neck. The orc topples down and crashes to the ground with a loud thud, not moving any longer.

Re: Orc Attack
Sighing with relief Velethahl stows his bow and climbs carefully off the wall to collect his sword. He then begins as search of the ruins. He starts by searching the enemy corpses and dragging them behind the outer wall were they can not be easily spotted.

Re: Orc Attack
Velethahl climbs down and puts his sword into his sheath again. Then he drags the corpses behind the wall and searches for equipment. He notes their weapons, all old and somewhat grubby, but in good working order, he isn't sure if he wants to use or even carry orc equipment. A quick scan of the ruins revels nothing more. As the noise of the fight is gone, the normal noises of nocturnal beasts begins anew. A warm wind starts blowing from the east. The full moon can be seen above, giving some light to the earth below.

Re: Orc Attack
Velethahl pockets the coins and discards the rest of the equipment. He starts thinking about finding a place to rest for the night. The partially standing tower might suffice. Velethahl trys to get to a high point on the fallen tower to get a good view of the surrounding area before finding a place to rest.

Re: Orc Attack
Velethahl finds an ancient stone stairway in the tower, leading up. He climbs up and finds himself on the first upper floor. Here, there is no roof as all further floors have long crumbled and fallen. The tower is circular and there is a lot of rubble and debris lying around. Velethahl sits down and falls into an uneasy meditation.
...
Before dawn, he awakes and feels a bit better, though he still is battered and torn. Soon, the sun will rise again.

Re: Orc Attack
After stretching shortly to find all the bruises and strains, Velethahl sits again to eat his morning rations. He then takes a good look at the surrounding countryside from the top of the tower to make sure things are safe before heading out to the road. Hopefully he can make good time today.

The Road to Bree
Left and right of the road he can see the wooded hills of the Trollshaws, an unsafe place for any lone traveller, twisted and gnarled trees that tell stories of ancient times long past. The sun shines hot on the woodelf but he does not mind, for elves do not feel heat and cold as much as humans. The road is old and he can tell that not many have used it in the last decades. This is indeed a seldom travelled route since the times of the fall of Rhudaur. For some time, a small bird accompanies the elf, singing happily in the sun.
A bit after sundown, the elf comes near the Mitheithel river that men call the Hoarwell. He sees a series of rundown buildings, some kind of inn. He can see lights coming from the shuttered windows and smoke coming out of the chimney. The inn is about 30 feet south of the road.

Re: The Road to Bree
It has been a beautiful day and the hours seemed more like minutes as the elf traveled down the old road. The ancient trees were a beatiful sight even if their presence made him think of the dangers one could expect in such desolate places. He took joy in the simple birdsong and the breeze when it was kind enough to blow, but unlike some of his kind Velethahl was not one to pass on the chance for a roof and a clean bed for the night. The thought of a fresh cooked meal beckoned him. Perhaps there would be some locals to talk with he thought to himself as he headed toward the glow of the inn. Any information he could get might be usefull in his mission.
