Prelude: Wool and Steel

It is the year 3010 of the Third Age in Middle-earth. One after another, ancient horrors awake, called by their master, Sauron, the Lord of the Rings. This is a time when heroes are needed, to protect the Free People and keep the evil at bay. This is high fantasy in a setting where there is low obvious magic using the HARP system.

Traek frowns, he does not like leaving the mule here, especially if there are wolves about. If the mule gets killed, he will insist the ranger's reimburse him.

He ties up the mule and begins to scale the cliff to get to the top.

The cliff is about 28' high at this point. Rocks and roots and other plants stick out and offer handholds.
Traek climbs up
roll 82+23+20(easy climb)=125 (total climbed: 11')
roll 42+23+20(easy climb)=85 (total climbed: 19')
When he is about 19' up the cliff, he hears someone whistling a merry tune among the trees on the top. Someone is here. Just then, Traek sees a human peek down from a tree above and pull back his head quickly. The whistling continues.
Perception roll 90+19=109, success.

Suddenly, at the top of the cliff, the head of a dwarf appears. Spotting Traek on the face of the cliff he stops whistling, and hollers to the man below. "Oi, Who are you?" he asks, somewhat loudly as he peers down at the man climbing the cliff.

Traek stops, "I am Traek. Who are you?" he says, not expecting a dwarf. "I mean no harm, I am climbing to the zenith to meet folk that I am scheduled to meet."

He pauses, waiting patiently below ...

"Name's Gorin," Gorin replies opting not to elaborate too much. "Who'er ye here ta meet?" He shouts back still peering over the edge.
